There is a plugin fork that allows you to seamlessly switch between controllers by pressing Z+L+R on the active controller (no need to touch the adapter). Last info box on this page of the EMU setup guide: https://wermi.neocities.org/emuguide/raphnetraw/

"USA: Text boxes scroll faster. 15 star MIPS runs slower. Faster for 0 Star and 70 Star JP: Shorter intro. Less text overall. Small differences in a few stages. Faster for 1 Star, 16 Star, and 120 Star JP Shindou Version: Less lag. Longer loading times. BLJs patched out of game. Faster for a variety of single star runs, not to be used in RTA PAL: European/Australian Version of the game. Not suitable for speedrunning since the framerate is locked to 25fps

For RTA runs, the difference between USA and JP versions is minimal enough that it doesn't really matter what version you run on until you are at a top level.

Exact differences can be found in this spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/16oPkb3dESBR3RQ1DthNDV5ECu5zIM3kc4ZVMwdN7_DI/ "

Counter factor has to be set to 1 on each ROM. JPN vs USA doesn't matter, although JPN is technically faster for 16 star.

Here's a submission guide: https://ukikipedia.net/wiki/RTA_Guide/Submitting_Runs_to_Speedrun.com

And here is the emulator setup guide if you haven't already looked through it: https://wermi.neocities.org/emuguide/

Also make sure the reset is included in the VOD, and the VOD should be recorded in either 30 or 60fps.

NSO version is not patched (unlike the 3D All-Stars version). BLJs are possible with any controller, although I imagine it's harder on joy cons. BLJs are frustrating but assuming you have watched a guide you'll get it soon.

You'll also get better answers/help in the help channels of the sm64 discord server. It's better than asking questions here on the forums: https://discord.gg/0Si1OtnB7Ylmwkwr

Directly from the rules: "Using a Mupen64Plus core within RetroArch is different from vanilla Mupen64Plus and is banned."

This category kind of already exists in the MST CE although it excludes Big Bullies and Big Boos. There is also another potential CE, All Enemies, that kills all the Bosses. But that doesn't mean this couldn't be a CE on it's own.

You may also want to include the Big Eye in BBH.

Fun fact, according to Ukikipedia, the Manta Ray in DDD is considered a Boss: https://ukikipedia.net/wiki/Manta_Ray

Switch NSO runs are allowed. Whatever category you run, make sure to select "Switch" under the Platform dropdown when submitting your runs. As long as the gameplay is visible during the whole run, and you follow the other rules you should be fine.

As in, play online with other players? I don't know which ROM hacks you want to play specifically, but sm64ex-coop is a good place to start. It's an sm64 coop mod that also works with Star Road and Super Mario 74. Here is the link to the sm64ex-coop discord server: https://discord.gg/eXhpSRhCyM

Extremely scuffed, but I got a run in. I usually run on console but decided to run on Emu for the better autosplitter and not wanting to manually split on top of remembering every enemy. I couldn't get the timing for so many things, not used to Emu haha. Anyways it's a brutal category. It's very challenging and feels very different from other categories but those are good things imo. Not for the faint of heart, but I had fun. If this gains traction I'll pick it up again.

I've started making a route for this and I have another question. Should it be required to kill moles from each hole within a stage? For example in TTM, instead of killing 9 moles total from any holes, you have to kill 9 moles from different holes, i.e. 1 mole from each hole.

I haven't quite looked at either of your runs yet. I feel like this should be a requirement. Killing them from the same holes just feels silly.

Yes, you can submit No LBLJ runs to both the main 16 star leaderboard and the CE 16 Star No LBLJ leaderboard.

So I did a full sweep of the game. @Malkierian I'm sure you have updated it by now, but here are the discrepancies I see based off of the spreadsheet image you posted above compared to my own findings: -Backyard - 10 Boos (image says 9) -HMC - 11 bats/Swoops (image says 10) -HMC - 6 Scuttlebugs (image says 5) -THI - 2 Koopas (image says 1) -THI - 3 Flyguys (image says 2) -BitS - 2 Piranha Plants (image says 1)

I compared this to your latest run and you got everything except the 3rd Flyguy in THI. :( It is in THIH on the path that the rolling cannonballs follow.

I'm like 99% sure that is all the enemies in the game.

That aside, here are a few things I think should at least be discussed but I do not necessarily think they should become part of the ruleset, just some things to consider/clarify/flesh out:

-Should Chain Chomp in BOB be included? You can't kill him but releasing him could be counted as "defeating" him. Kind of a long shot, just something that crossed my mind -Should Bullet Bill in WF be included? Technically can't kill this either but running into it or touching it in anyway causes it to recoil in the opposite direction until it respawns. -Should Haunted Chairs in BBH be included and become a requirement? They kind of self-destruct like bob-ombs so they could just be triggered. I didn't pay much attention to this and don't know how many exist.

The "impossible" Goomba is omitted in the All Goombas category because it's believed to be impossible to kill. I have seen people kill it successfully in tool-assisted runs, but otherwise I am not aware of any instance of anyone ever killing it without TAS.

Also there are 2 small piranha plants in BitS. The second one is on the black and white checkered platform before the horizontally moving elevator.

I was under the impression that an all enemies run would take 3-4+ hours but seeing it done in under an hour is encouraging. I love the idea of a category that visits all main stages but also introduces interesting routing not oriented toward star collection alone. My only concern is that verifying such runs will either rely heavily on the honor system or be a huge pain to fully verify (not that I have to do that anyways).

Overall this looks like an interesting challenge. I'll give it a try sometime!
