I'm not aware of a way to prevent notifications for a specific forum thread/post.
Example: In a followed game, I want to receive notifications for all forum threads/posts for that game except for a specific troll thread/post.
Is it possible to get a "Unfollow Thread" option to allow this functionality?
You can access the correct download in the discord server: https://discord.gg/S5Yn9b4aPQ
Usamune is allowed for some category extension, such as 10x Cannonless. Not sure if it is allowed for Nonstop though. I don't see why not, as long as all features other than the required codes for nonstop are turned off. May want to run it past a mod first.
Also, Everdrive is not banned for all SM64 categories. Everdrive is required for Nonstop (and some other CEs) console runs. My Nonstop Everdrive runs get verified.
I can't tell if this is a joke or not.
Reasons this would not make a good category and why it will not become one:
-
No context - Why would it be called Paul%? Why 13 stars if the end goal (first key) only requires 8 stars (0 stars with LBLJ)? Why ban LBLJ and cannonless?
-
Doesn't provide anything new/valuable - Collecting the first key is required for almost every category that already exists for this game. Separating this into it's own category is redundant and meaningless.
-
No interest - Unlike many other games on this site, the SM64 community doesn't seem to care for meme categories that are shorter than 2 minutes. Even the meme categories that do exist are not taken seriously and many are unaware of their existence.
I'm all for adding new categories but they should add value to the community in one way or another.
I know there are a few people out there making steel stick alternatives like restick, brewstick, among others, but I've never tried them. Hopefully some other people can make suggestions on good stick replacements.
I personally just use good OEM sticks, but before using them, I take them apart and lubricate the bowl. Makes them feel better, and they last waaaaay longer. Going on 18 months with my current stick and it still feels and works great.
There is a GameShark section in this guide that has links to a few GameShark resources, including a list of codes. I don't know how updated/accurate it is. You might also want to ask in the Usamune or even the main SM64 speedrunning discord.

I just decided to run it without the bullies. We definitely need more opinions to get a consensus on that matter, as well as many other issues.
Like what counts as a successful kill? Some would argue simply getting aggro from the bob-ombs counts because they would explode soon after. But you could technically get aggro and then immediately exit course (if it's the last bob-omb in that stage), which doesn't seem right imo. Maybe hearing the explosion would be the death indicator? But what if two collide out of view and you only hear one explosion instead of two separate explosions?
We need more people/opinions to figure these things out. I suggest someone start a temporary discord server where we can better communicate and hash all these things out. It's never going to get done on this forum thread, especially with all the src notifications being delayed by over 72 hours.
Chucked a few runs to figure out some routing. This was a pretty scuffed run so I feel like 25 minutes would be pretty easy to get LBLJless. Still not sure if WF 100 is a good idea. Excited to see what other people come up with!
Edit: Got the 25. Still many mistakes but I'm satisfied with this for now. I'll return if we ever reach a consensus that would invalidate this run.
So I just tested it and I was able to add the codes to PJ64 and it accepted them (on the US version), however, it is just resetting the game after file selection. So I think those codes may be incorrect (I tried the ones you pasted and the ones in the rules tab of the 1000 Unique Coins page).
Your best bet is to join the ROM Hacks discord and ask your question there. I'm sure they have a working link to the ROM Hack/codes, or at least someone who can direct you to it. Here is the discord: https://discord.com/invite/BYrpMBG
What version of PJ64 are you using? If you are using the correct PJ64 version (v1.6.x), you can enter the codes. This thread might help, which explains how to enter codes into PJ64 v1.6.x: https://www.speedrun.com/sm64/thread/c1dhu
Just make sure to enter in the codes for 1000 Unique Coins instead of the Nonstop codes. The thread also has a link to the PJ64 v1.6.x download with instructions if you aren't already using it.
You could always make your own route. But if you'd rather not, Ukikipedia has a good No LBLJ 31 star route: https://ukikipedia.net/wiki/RTA_Guide/31_Star
There are also No LBLJ splits in the resources tab, although they are slightly different from the Ukikipedia route: https://www.speedrun.com/sm64ce/resources
Hmm, I don't think so about the bullies, but I could be wrong. If you look up Chuckya on almost any wiki they are classified as bob-ombs, like it's Mario lore or something.
Edit: After some research, Bullies are technically bombs (specifically "Viking bombs"). Not sure if that counts as a bob-omb. Unless we were to change this to "all bombs" or something. Just something to think about.
Just did a quick run through of all the stages for a bob-omb count. I got a total of 36 bob-ombs (not including the red bob-omb buddies). Can anyone think of any that I missed?
My findings can be found here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1doGj0Kphc37UuAUTFwdRiQHo6_FGaXqUzJTWibpvn1Y/edit?usp=sharing
Also Wes, what would count as a kill? Technically you can just run past them so they aggro Mario and they eventually explode. Should that count or not?
Chuckyas are technically bob-ombs. If you were to add Chuckyas to the black bob-ombs route, that would add WDW and THI. That might make it more "worth it"? That would also keep it to enemies that could be destroyed.
All Cannons+ just seems redundant. Personally, I venture to new categories to learn or experience something different. New categories should offer something different in my opinion.
The rules state: "The video link MUST embed on the run page (e.g. no URL shorteners, or sketchy file sharing sites)". So as long as your video can be embedded, the platform doesn't matter.
There are other video platforms out there (although I can't recommended them) and you can find them with a simple web search (be careful of sketchy sites). Chances are, if you aren't allowed to use YT or Twitch, your organization also blocks other video platforms. Good luck!
The AS64 discord would be helpful: https://discord.gg/zX4bex5t
Otherwise, the auto split route should be as follows (assuming you do BitDW Reds):
BOB, 1, 1,0, -, Normal WF, 6, 1, 0, -, Normal CCM, 8, 1, 0, -, Normal BitDW, 9, 2, 0, -, Normal SSL, 11, 1, 0, - Normal LLL, 12, 1, 0, -, Normal HMC, 15, 1, 0, -, Normal MIPS Clip, 15, -, -, -, Mips DDD, 16, 1, 0, -, Normal BitFS, 16, 3, 0, -, Normal BLJs, 16, 4, 0, -, Normal BitS, 16, -, -, -, Final
If you do the extra star in HMC instead of BitDW Reds:
BOB, 1, 1,0, -, Normal WF, 6, 1, 0, -, Normal CCM, 8, 1, 0, -, Normal BitDW, 8, 3, 0, -, Normal SSL, 10, 1, 0, - Normal LLL, 11, 1, 0, -, Normal HMC, 15, 1, 0, -, Normal MIPS Clip, 15, -, -, -, Mips DDD, 16, 1, 0, -, Normal BitFS, 16, 3, 0, -, Normal BLJs, 16, 4, 0, -, Normal BitS, 16, -, -, -, Final
It’s probably good to run this for the purpose of practice. But seeing as it's literally just the beginning segment of the majority of existing categories, I don't see the point in making it its own category.
The main reason I do not think this would make a good category is the fact that it does not offer anything new or of value to the community. It doesn’t provide any new movement or interesting routing. It doesn’t teach us anything new about the game. Getting the first key is required in almost every single category and category extension that already exists.
I don’t think the mods would be fond of using their time to verifying runs for a category that already exists within so many other categories, but I can’t speak on their behalf.
If you really feel strongly about it, don’t let anyone stop you from trying. You can make a post and see if there is interest in it. Specifying rules and providing an example run are a good place to start (although I'm sure everyone knows how to get to the first key).
I don't really see 1st key% becoming an actual CE, but technically if you get enough people interested it could happen.
As far as recording, OBS Studio is a free screen recording/streaming software. Install that and watch a quick start tutorial on how to use it.
If you ever plan to submit runs to the leaderboards, I highly recommend just downloading and setting up PJ64 v1.6.x. Here is where to find it, with instructions on how to set it up properly: https://wermi.neocities.org/emuguide/getting_emu/#download
Usamune is not allowed for most categories, but there are a few exceptions such as Nonstop. But again, you would have to disable all options except for intro skip and the nonstop option (which sounds like a hassle to me if you have most options turned on in the first place).
