It means you're out of RAM. A simple fix would be to switch to the OpenGL beta. Go to your steam library and right lick on Celeste->Properties->Betas->select the opengl beta
Beta's not being allowed is an artifact of the time at the beginning of 2021, where there were beta patches for the then upcoming 1.4 patch. Betas that still set your game to the current Steam version (which is 1.4.0.0) are allowed. So you can use the OpenGL branch for speedrunning with no issues
because src is a very functional site.
How this website works is that B-, and C-Sides are an Individual Level wide category, and you can't disable IL categories like that only for certain ILs. So Farewell just has an empty B-, and C-Sides tab because of that
That is completely fine. Only thing disallowed is using a feature of it. Having it enabled is fine as long as no feature is getting used during the run like the debug console or debug map.
If you want to disabled it, you can set the "Debug Mode" option in Everest to "Everest" (or "Off)
If you care about lowering dashes for Celeste, there is the Celeste Challenges Discord. A lot of it revolves around TASing them first, but you also see occasionally human gameplay. Here is a spreedsheet of what dashes people have been able to save and been able to replicate as human players.
But we will not add a mindash speedrun category. Reasoning and other categories that we won't add can be found in the Category Extension Submission Spreadsheet.
You can just change them in your controls.json. This is located at ./local/share/Celeste64 on Linux and AppData/Roaming/Celeste64 on Windows
The answer to your first question: No, we require one continuous recording. You can stream to twitch and submit a highlight of the streamed run instead of recording it if length is a problem. Just need to make sure to have "Store Past Broadcasts" enabled.
Runs don't require the pie screen to be showed. Seeing the final time in the summit complete screen is enough for submissions
As Spirialis proved, the final berry under the last island is possible grabless. And the berry for the wall you need to climb on will be possible in the next patch by clipping through a wall and then going from below it into that room. The dev's actually patched that last solution in.
I don't know if the mods want to add it for some reasons: First a grabless challenge is really hard and not a lot of people will do it. They only want to add categories that people actually are running, so they won't add suggestions until a sizable chunk have actually done runs on them. Also verifying those runs is pretty hard as you have to pay even closer attention that no grab was involved.
Yep, as long as we can see everything clearly then it's fine. Make sure that we can actually clearly see the corners of the screen as there is information necessary for verification there. See the overlay rules imgur album

Vanilla
@mlyu Yes prideline is allowed. You can check the approved and denied mods and comments to them in our spreadsheet
Exactly, runs have to be performed on Vanilla Celeste, so no mods allowed at all. Only exception of course are the modded boards like Strawberry Jam but they also only allow specific cosmetic mods. Even for the leaderboards that allow you to play on Everest, the Niko skin is banned as it alters some animation timings.
As far as we know, Twitch does not have a storage limit concerning VODs. For most people I would say that they might confuse the 7 day expiration of stored broadcasts but you know how to highlight so I have no idea what's going on there. If Twitch did a policy change like that, we probably would know about it as there would be a huge outcry.
While it's not recommended as 1.3 doesn't have some good QoL updates from 1.4(which is now out on all other platforms and consoles), the Microsoft Store version is completely valid for our leaderboards. We only require the latest patch on the platform you play. As the Microsoft Store version's latest patch is 1.3.3.0 you're completely fine to do runs on it and submit them
It is not allowed to speedrun this game on Everest. You can just hold right on the titlescreen or use the Olympus launcher to launch into the vanilla version of the game. So it shouldn't be a big hassle to do runs on a vanilla version
Yeah so many different keyboard layouts and I have no idea what people use. I think isaac uses wasd, zkad uses default controls mainly(arrows+zxc), and prof uses ijkl for movement. Keyboard is a huge preference thing and everyone uses something else
Runs can be as long as you want if you can upload a video of it to a video sharing site, but they do have to be a reasonable attempt at being fast. We don't reject people for just not being as experienced with the game and taking a long time to beat the game. However we reject runs for fooling around and trying to be slow on purpose like standing around for an hour. This does not include challenge runs as long as you try to beat the game fast with the restrictions placed upon you
