Testing is currently under way for the projected time differences between higher framerates (120 - 200) and lower framerates (30 - 120). After extensive testing, we'll continue to discuss the options.

No salt here. Just want to avoid turbo, as does most of this community. The point is that you still need to perform the stair skate, and the method that is allowed for PC Door Skip allows you to do this. Everyone is on the same page, and the stair skating is still being performed by rotating the analog stick. Not just holding up on the analog stick (which is basically just holding a button)
I was away on vacation and didn't see these last two messages. Jadusable had a similar issue, and it was fixed by downloading a more recent version of JoyToKey, which can be found with the same link provided in the video description. Let me know if that works or not.
Yeah, this is why I made my tutorial video the way it is. To avoid exactly that. Thank you for demonstrating why everyone should use the same setup, Zeroth.
EDIT as of January 2022: Steam updated the Configuration Settings, and removed the feature entirely. (wtf Steam) So, the alternative is to set the Controller Config specific to the game, which Martin explains in the latest post here in this thread. Please refer to Martin or DiamondDogez setup for Steam. Joy2Key still works with Martin's method, theoretically, it's just more out of the way.
Upon popular demand, I have created a video explaining how to set up everything that's needed to start speedrunning the PC Door Skip category. A simple Door Skip explanation, as well as a faster and more comfortable way of stair skating, without the use of turbo or macro. No longer will you have to destroy your hand/wrist to run this category. Enjoy, and have fun!
No offense Bulkich, but "this game is so fooking old" isn't a good reason at all. Why should PC2006 have loadless? A better question is why NOT? The game may be old, but that doesn't somehow invalidate a load remover. Even as old as the game is, some people may still have varied loading times. As minor as they may be, Load Removers are the best way to ensure that everyone is on a level playing field.
I may not be a runner, but I would like to give some outside perspective on this. As someone who has reformed, and set up a lot of boards, I have to agree that the DMC3 boards are in need of a change. There are far too many categories, based on what seem to be minor differences between Consoles, an unneeded Any% category, and three Misc. difficulties with practically no runners.
I'm not really super knowledgeable of every difference between versions and difficulties, but I know enough to see that this needs some work. It won't be easy or quick to do, so I hope everyone here can have some good discussion about it.
@redemption99 I would be happy to take over, but only if the community is okay with it. I have a lot of experience, and could help just about anybody who would potentially run the game.
I agree, the run isn't necessarily as smooth as the first game. The only jump that I find inconsistent is Snake Fist skip, but the bulkiness of Becket makes getting caught on certain props/walls very easy. Thanks for giving some input, even though you've stepped down.
In that case, what are your thoughts @redemption99 ?
This game may not have much activity, or active community members, but I'd like open up a discussion here that introduces a Load Remover for the future (used in my current run), and the possibility of considering the "Sound Acceleration Error" as a separate category.
I learned this game in October, in order to submit to a contest held by Monolith. Upon looking into the game, I noticed that the Any% category allows for something called the "Sound Acceleration Error" to be active during runs. Despite the argument of "It's free time save, and anyone can do it", I think this is probably the main reason why people might not care to run this as much as the first F.E.A.R., as we don't allow audio to be muted in that game. I'd say it's a bit discouraging for someone to check the WR, and realize that they might not be able to get that time without muting the entire game, leaving out a huge part of what makes it even remotely entertaining. After seeing Snowfats comment on his submitted run, I felt that it's something that should be re-opened for discussion, as he even thought it shouldn't really be allowed. I know the community isn't very active, but having a World Record for almost 3 years because nobody wants to compete in a game with no audio, is a bit silly.
I think I've proven that this game can be much further optimized, without muting the entire game. I personally think that it should be moved to another category along the lines of Any% SAE (Sound Acceleration Error). I'd like to think this will help prevent any potential runners from being discouraged by having no audio, and allowing people who DO want to use the SAE, to further optimize that category.
As for the Load Remover, well that's just to keep everyone on an even playing field from now on. It works quite well, considering a lot of the flags are finicky in this game, and the person who worked on it did a great job. I'll provide the version I used in my run in the Resources tab. Only thing that is a bit weird, is the need to pause and unpause when you're waking up after the first mission, as the Load Remover will stay paused until Becket puts on his glasses. (An example of a weird flag) The Load Remover also makes the boards even more viable for a PC/Console split, as PC already has an advantage in RTA in the first place.
That's about all I wanted to say, and I'd love some past and present players to share their thoughts.
@vinev, well in that case, you, much like trator, were clearly not around for many of the big leaderboard change discussions in the past. You can be skeptical all you want, but why the hell would I lie about that? It's fact and plenty of people were around for it that are still here today. The Any% change is different. That discussion was a bit brief, because it was a pretty small change, and was a way of promoting a category that was already on the main board. The way that category is set up doesn't have to be finalized if most people don't like it that way. But like I said, that is a very small change in comparison to what is being presented here by Igor.
There we go, some good feedback. One thing I do want to point out to both Zealot and Michelle, is that the 120fps categories are optimized to the point where you cannot get record with controller. 60fps PC is not on that level yet, and having slightly slower menuing does not ruin a record run. Being able to move items in your inventory with the mouse, while also being able to use it to select and deselect things in the menu, alongside the keys on your keyboard, IS a major difference. No matter the FPS. Just because it doesn't seem that way based on leaderboard position, does not mean it's not a thing. I give 120 as the example because that's where the most optimized runs are, and are examples of how different M+KB and controller are. I do understand that 30fps consoles ARE at a disadvantage, and this was brought up a while ago. I believe it would be better to make a 30fps variable, but back when we were making the big leaderboard change, a lot of people were against it. If those same people were to come forward with a changed perspective, then I would be happy to make THAT change, at the least.
EDIT: Only problem with that last part is that some people may not have submitted their console type correctly, and we wouldn't be able to tell if a run listed as PS4 or Xbox One, was actually a Pro or X.
@IgorAlmeida, Bringing CE categories to the main board guarantees nothing, in terms of activity. Also having a PC/Console variable would lead to 120 Console variable being a completely blank default sub category. It's not that I don't like the suggestion, but I just don't see it being a need. I understand what you're trying to go for here, and I appreciate you taking the time to write it up, but I'm just not on board until this site has a better system of handling more complex leaderboards. I'll gladly keep my eye on this forum post for more discussion though, as I would be swayed if enough people were truly supportive enough to make this a need, and not just a want.
@trator_ensaboado , I am perfectly up to date with things. I was not dismissive or condescending until you said "Keep up the great Kappa". Again, just let it go.
@Michelle_myBelle I'm not suppressing it, I'm bringing up pretty valid questions as to why any of this is needed. I personally feel like putting PC and Console together isn't needed. Putting people who use M+KB and completely change their keybinds with multiple uses for one key, against people who use controllers with set binds? That is already pretty unfair. No matter how good you get with a controller, you cannot compete with that. Just look at the top runners for PC 120. Their inputs are insane compared to the inputs of controller players.
I would also like to bring up the fact that completely deleting NG+ is just unnecessary and achieves nothing, other than deleting months of hard work. No reason for that at all. Also the CE boards may not be as well known about, but is that all that matters? Giving it exposure? Run whatever category you want and OWN it, even if it's not on a board. That's what Crazygamingdayz and I did when we were first running Knife Only.
Me not running the game has nothing to do with moderating it. I run a ton of games, and still know plenty about this one to have moderated it since the very beginning. I'd suggest just letting it go, instead of acting like a moron.
It's not an excuse, it's the truth @trator_ensaboado. I also literally provided questions to be answered and discussed. I didn't shut it down, I just need more than 5 people to act like 5Heads in a forum. Don't act so smug, as if you have any experience in moderating a game on this website.
The hundreds of people who have ran the game since release? The ones that would post on the forum every other day, asking for the leaderboard to be changed? People who gave great feedback and discussion, and then people who just acted like spoiled brats asking their parents for toys? People who decided to run the game, because they like it a lot, and people who decided to not run the game, because they didn't get their way with an arbitrary leaderboard. There were so many people on these forums every day going crazy over this game. If you weren't here for that, then I don't know what else to tell you, other than that. If you wanna privately message everyone the leaderboard and ask them what they were doing on the night of the great leaderboard change of RE2 Remake, be my guest. We're mods, not detectives.
Suggestions like these have been brought up so many times in the past. The way the boards are set up now are a result of hundreds of people coming together and agreeing on separating the categories as you see them right now. Some people weren't happy, and some people were. That's just how it goes. You can't please everyone. If we were to do another round of major changes, where hundreds of runs needed to be moved to a new category, and new variables, while also leaving one of those Variables (Console 120) completely BLANK, it better be for a good reason. Is putting PC 60 and Console together even needed? IF so, then explain why. Is it going to benefit the entire community? Is it something that many people will come together and agree upon easily? The boards have been set up this way for MONTHS, and it's worked out pretty well. Why make such major changes now? Things like these need to be discussed over a long period of time. I hope you understand the point I'm trying to make here.
