ILs are usually for things that are really for individual levels or individual challenges in a game. X recipes would fit better in miscellaneous.

This isn't really important, because I retime every run before it goes up on the leaderboards anyways. But I just wanted to say as an FYI that one millisecond is one thousandth of a second, so if a time ends in something like .35 it is 350 milliseconds, not 35, and a .7 is 700 milliseconds, not 7. Just something I thought I'd mention because it's a common mistake people make when they submit times (which you guys never get to see because I fix them).

I actually found SharkAttack's old forum post from 11 months ago when he asked to be added as a Hypixel Party Games mod. Honestly I can see now why he was added back then, but everything I said in my above post is still valid. Even if my discord and youtube links didn't work back then, he still could have reached out on the forums to me about it, and he doesn't help with things even occasionally anymore. Plus I'm more active, more experienced, and a better moderator than I used to be back then so there shouldn't be any problems in the future. I'm sorry my post was so wordy but I'm just trying to explain things as well as I possibly can. Going in to even more detail than necessary usually isn't a bad problem to have.

I have two games that I am the only active moderator of (that also have one other inactive moderator), which are Hypixel Party Games and Kinect Sports Season 2. Both of them have one other Super Moderator, but neither of them do anything so I'm gonna explain why I'd like the other mods within those games to be removed.

For Kinect Sports Season 2: This one is very straightforward. Alaskaxp, the other moderator, was never interested in doing anything except his one run of golf in the first place. I eventually picked up the game, and after having my first golf run unverified for a long time, I reached out to him asking him to make me a moderator of the game, which he did after a few days. Since then I've expanded the leaderboards, done many more runs, and even gotten a couple of other active runners in the community (we have a discord group chat rather than a discord server because there's so few of us, but it's still a thing). He's been a lot less in to speedrunning than before in general so I don't blame him for this, I'm even a mod on his twitch channel so I don't care that he was inactive on this game but still because he doesn't do anything for the game anymore there's no reason he should be a moderator for it. He hasn't verified a single run either so I'm not losing anything. I'd add more moderators if it was reasonable but all the other people in the community are really young and I know mods are generally supposed to be 16+. Plus, I don't get enough runs to be stressed by it. Not even close. So I'll be okay unless one of the games I moderate suddenly pops off, and I'll deal with that at the time if it does happen.

For Hypixel Party Games: Months ago, maybe even a year, I had been inactive on SRC for 2 to 3 weeks or so and suddenly there was another moderator for Hypixel Party Games. I had no idea why. Nobody had reached out to me about why I was inactive, or posted anything on the game's SRC forums, or done anything about it, but I'm assuming at one point he might have submitted a request to be added as a mod? I don't really know. But he's verified like 3 to 5 runs ever if that, back when he got added, and for months since then he hasn't done anything for the game including verifying even a single run. Even if he did start actively involving himself in the community again, I couldn't trust him to be as thorough as I am, where I retime almost every run that is submitted and check carefully to make sure things are done correctly. The guy simply has never really done anything for the game and I'm not sure why or how he was added as a mod in the first place, so I don't see a reason to keep him as a mod. I was the one who took over for the old inactive mod a long time ago (back then, the game had a major update which made all of the categories invalid and it needed some immediate change which didn't happen despite my best efforts to contact him) and I've been keeping up perfectly since then without any outside help. I'd consider adding more mods for this game in the future but just don't know anyone who would be good for it yet, but regardless of that, for now I don't want a random inactive person having moderating powers on a leaderboard that I alone keep up with.

Thank you site mods for your time, I know there's a lot going on lately with the website being much more active and I want to say I appreciate all of you, you're doing a great job!

The list given at the beginning of this article looks like it includes everything.

I was making one a while ago for this purpose, but I stopped because I didn't think anyone would ever actually want to do that category. I can try to come up with a list. The IL leaderboard purposely doesn't have most of the minigames on it because many of them take a set amount of time to complete

When I looked at the 100% Co Op category I was really confused, because in the Co Op menu there's still all 55 recipes that you can choose, and you only do the first 10. Why would a category be called "100% Co Op" when its not even close to 100%?

When I made the rule about proving that you are not in a party for solo, I did it knowing that many people wouldn't read the rules that closely before doing runs, and wouldn't realize that this is a rule, and because of that I never really intended to have it be a rule that is followed so strictly that any run that doesn't do it must be rejected. After all, having a run be invalid just because of a little rule like that is pretty lame, even if it's still the player's fault for not reading the rules. Even in a forum post from roughly when I made that rule, I said that it would be "nice" if from now on people typed /p list at some point to prove that they are not in a party.

Regardless of that, I don't personally find the run very suspicious. Let me tell you, people are HORRIBLE at Fire Leapers. I've had countless games that end in the first 5 turns, and honestly at least half of the time, the game ends before it reaches 10. People doing so well in Chicken Rings and Jungle Jump is a little more rare though, and I understand the suspicion for that part, but having a couple other decent people at those games in a lobby isn't so unreasonable.

However, since this is a world record run, and a rule is a rule, I get why you feel as though it should not be considered legitimate. Honestly, when I accepted this run it was probably during one of those times that I had 8+ runs waiting to be verified (I'm a moderator of a decent amount of games) and so I probably paid a little less attention to the run than I should have. The run should be rejected because it didn't follow that rule, and I'm going to stick to that rule more strictly in the future.

I'll also change my forum post and change the way it is phrased in the rules to make it more clear that you NEED to type /p list during the run (preferably at the start).

Thank you for pointing that out. Even though I believe this run is likely legitimate, you are right that it shouldn't count.

Somebody submitted a run recently for the 25, 50, and 100 stars categories with a party, with a 25 star time of under 11 minutes and some other crazy times as well. I looked at it closely, and it turns out that they were combining the star totals of everyone in their entire party and adding them all up to reach each total amount of stars, meaning they actually got to 25 by their understanding in only one game.

This is not how it works if you do the run under "Party" instead of "Solo". It is still only one person's star count that matters, and that is the one person who's POV is being shown in the video. Having a party can certainly still help, because they can help you win in some cases and also help games end faster in some cases, but their star counts do not directly contribute to the end goal of the run.

This is the reason I gave for rejecting the run, basically saying what I just explained here. "There was a very big misunderstanding of the rules here. For all X amount of stars runs, even in runs where you're in a party, it is YOUR star count and only yours that matters. Your party's total combined amount of stars is not what the run is based off of. Having a party can still help because the other players can make games end quicker, and they can help you win, but their stars that they earn do not directly contribute to the run."

I'm sorry for the misunderstanding, and I hope this clears things up. If anyone ever has questions about the rules, feel free to ask on the forums here or in DMs, and I'd be happy to answer anything in order to avoid things like this happening.

If you exit one screen too early, then a 10 second penalty will be added on to your time. If you exit even earlier than one screen too early, but you're at least at a point where it is clear that you won the game, then a 30 second penalty will be added to your time. I don't expect to have to use this one unless someone doesn't read the exiting rules before doing a run. If you exit so early that it's possible that you haven't even won the game yet, your run will be rejected.

It is definitely taking a long time, but I just read a forum post where one of the site staff said that game requests are taking a lot longer to get to than normal right now because of COVID-19, because people have been more active and people have been submitting a lot more games, which is understandable. hopefully we will get our leaderboard soon.

Do you know roughly how long it's taking right now on average? It would be good to know

I've never seen anything like that in this game tho, it's really bizzare. I'm sorta curious if it could be replicated but I definitely doubt it.

Iowa, USAThatRaisinTho4 years ago

Can we just talk about wtf this was on hole one in this run?

Iowa, USAThatRaisinTho4 years ago

Just an FYI to everyone here, I submitted a game request for Kinect Sports (the original) to be added to speedrun.com today! It usually takes them about a week or 2 to get to the request, but I can’t see any reason why they wouldn’t accept it when they eventually do, and I’ll try to get leaderboards set up ASAP when it happens

Personally, the way I do it is i swing my arm wildly all the way from behind my body and arcing it over my head to the front of my body, and I very rarely fault (although it isn't 100%). The motion is nothing like a real tennis serve, and it probably looks incredibly stupid, but it works for me.

I am updating the rules about early exits (quitting out of the game early than you should in the rules), because I don't believe that you should be able to lose a run just because of an accidental early exit

The new rule: If you exit one screen too early (for example: Screen showing final scores in foot ball instead of the winner screen), then a 10 second penalty will be added on to your time. When the requirement for a run is only that you need to finish a game, the same logic applies but the game only needs to be clearly over (as far as actual gameplay goes) instead of clearly won.
