There's something not so many peoples know but there's multiple way to BLJ up that stair, 1, timing every a press (Remember that for every BLJ Alway hold Z ) This is much harder but will make you gain speed consistently on a much higner count, You can mash 8.5 times a second or 12 times a second which is a slightly easier option but if you're a beginner it's gonna be hard ofc. pratice will solve it. or.. you can do the Mash with two fingers method, basically you mash quickly by doing a press with one finger and another at a fast rate. this is easier than it apear to be. it is my method of BLJ personally, remember to alway keep the same rate/speed you mash And pratice. if you do the two finger method well enough, as soon as mario go throught the door you go back to using your thumb for the A button you then move yourself in a way so you doesn't get stuck in a wall of course, and you should be fine.
Pretty sure such a clip would require perfect or atleast near-perfect movements. doubt it possible. but hey speedrunners been surprising for generations so. who know
it is most likely for OG Speedrunners if they felt like coming back would be able to catch up and get a 4.54, it is very likely, however getting a 4.54 would probably be the best possible time for a human unless new knowledge is found. so to me i feel like even if anyone decided to pratice and get 4.54 (Which isn't as easy as you think) i don't think we're gonna see any new MASSIVE time save any time soon
@Lamoosa pretty sure the G&W Version is overall faster no?
@Giffi as i mentioned in my edited post ''a humanly perfect run would be a 4.54 or a 4.53 if new knowledge is found'' last time i did a speedrun/was doing more than just answering threads in this community, the best possible time for super mario bros 1 was 8 minutes. i'm probably unaware of the new strats and all of that. so forgive me if im wrong but if new knowledge is found im pretty sure sub 4,54 is possible.
i Think that a ''humanly'' perfect speedrun of super mario bros with the CURRENT knowledge we got, would be a Four minutes and 54 seconds. no miliseconds or whatever just 4.54 it would require basically almost perfect speedrunning throughout an entire run. but i feel like it a possibility in the near future, if we find a way to optimize the game even more than it is, then maybe Four minutes 53 seconds and 58 miliseconds or something like that is probably the best we'd get. i'd love being shown that with our current knowledge a 4,53 is possible to the human being. but oh well.
honestly i don't think there much difference. virtual consoles are pretty much the same with a few difference that doesn't actually matter in runs. correct me if im wrong but between virtual console on wii, wii u, 3ds and switch. i didn't see any difference.
i feel like playing overall faster in 8-4 and 8-1 would probably do. if im right with my calculations, a ''humanly perfect'' run would probably give a 4.54 or 4.53 if new knowledge is found so i feel like by playing even just considerably faster in 8-1 and 8-4 it would simply give him 4,54. i have faith in miniland being able to pull this off fairly quickly.
I'll definitely be the one getting the 4:54, i haven't done any speedrun in years so you know im more likely to get that WR. jokes aside, kosmic or nolmy maybe. kosmic: between 20 and 8500 attempts. nolmy:between 10 and 8500 attempts.
Basically on emulator L+R in specific locations tend to bug mario. you should use a better emulator since not ALL of them experience this kind of bug. maybe retroarch if it's still a thing.
the only difference with the 3d all star version is that Sm64 3d all star is the shindou version, meaning BLJ is patched so you cant do anything that isn't 70 stars or higner. Sadly :/
the bunny clip (or mip clip) is a glitch that allow you to use the bunny to go throught doors, now you use that bunny twice, one to go throught the first door in the basement, then the second door leading to bowser in the fire sea. however... since as long as you doesn't grab MIP star, he doesn't disapear (or it seem like so) i was wondering, would it be possible for someone to use mip to clip throught more doors, all the way throught the locked key door requiring the bowser mentioned previously, Then use mip to clip throught the stair door which usually require a BLJ. Thus reaching the room in which have the door leading to the endless stairs, now there a problem with this, even if all of this setup was possible, (if anyone willing to try, do it im fairly busy these days still getting used to the control xDD) but even if it worked, the endless stair just cant be skipped with a bunny you know? i doubt mister bunny has the ability to give us a golden mushroom straight outta mario kart wii, so this give us a problem, there is however an tactic that i remembered, most tas will first frame wall kick off the walls and chain it till they gain enough speed to just first frame wall kick a certain way facing upward, thus propelling mario throught the endless stair barrier and reaching the bowser entrance, this tactic is almost imposible to pull off, but hey we were trying carpetless for years thinking it was ''tas only'' but a human did pull it off a few times. not in a run, but who know we might get there one day.. so if carpetless is possible, would this be possible? and assuming the bunny tactic doesnt work at all (considering keys door tend to not ''Load'' things properly unless you go throught them normally) would it still be do able with Insanely precise inputs? Can a human even get this far?
So basically you're suggesting that, we add a 64 star category extension, which would have as goal to get 64 stars. would it be 64% With every glitches allowed etc.?
thats why i asked for his version, 3d all star version of mario 64 is just a translated shindou ._.
you should check this out. May i ask On What do you play? emulator 3d all star version or console?
Shindou version has BLJ patched, easiest way to know if you have shindou version: Mario say Bye bye instead of so long-a bowser. BLJ is patched and so you'Il never see your speed rise and clip you throught stuff. mip clip has been patched as well. so check out your version MY way of doing BLJ: long jump backward mash A as fast as possible while holding the direction so mario stay STRAIGHT. (if your angle is off you'Il never blj)
speedrunning in general is A combination of skills, motivation, patience, game knowlege, and pratice. There is more addition to this list depending on the game you speedrun, my favorite game of all time super mario sunshine require Both precise and speedy movements optimizations, combined with insane glitches, or if it's glitchless then it become precise and agile movements along with clever optimizations, super mario 64 Any% with glitches is a combination of movements optimizations/strats and glitches. if you want to learn speedrunning, then chooe a game you'Re familiar with to begin with (You can speedrun as many games as you want but a familiar one is a good start) read guides and strats for that game, Pratice And pratice, oh and pratice too. (xD) pratice with and without a timer to put some pressure on yourself, because you need to be able to perform under pressure, pratice be patient, and most important of all: HAVE FUN. speedrunning doesn't mean you cant have fun while doing so, i speedrun sm64 and SMS even tho i quit speedrunning, because i find it fun. for more informations again watch the guides there a few ones on this as well, otherwise if you have problems finding guides PM Me and i'll find you a guide myself. i hope i helped.
Okay yeah now that's kinda broken, so With glitches And Faster load etc. Super mario 3d all star version of sunshine is faster... Weird.
Turbo nozzle somehow get the same time as blooper but there room for optimization, not only that turbo nuzzle movements are less problematic than bloopers. back in my speedrunning days i was constantly trying to find new strats without success. it's crazy how far this community has went lol. with this aside, there might be a turbo nozzle strat that faster than bloopers :v? then again you'd have to go all the way to get the nozzle then come back.. but i'll do some research and meet you back on this site if i find anything Or not
