I updated the link.

kram11384 years ago

@ISlide, I was also thinking of that. Like I said, we'll see how it goes. I have no issues using this forum, but maybe other people would prefer to use discord. I would definitely like to make sure the resources and guides are up to date, wherever they end up being hosted. The first attempt was the video tutorial of Geonosis. Might continue that and possibly make an updated written tutorial, or a more general video tutorial.

Utsu had a good point in his run with the dev of there being no discord/central location for gathering outside of this forum for SWRC Speedrunning. I created a discord for speedrunning in swrc. Anyone is welcome to join and we can see how it goes: https://discord.gg/RBgv9qG

Yea, i think it could use some optimization to improve consistency still so that doesn't happen

kram11384 years ago

After much testing I've finally found possibly the most consistent setup for the to own the skies skip. It takes a bit longer to set up than the usual one, but it's maybe 50-75% consistent. Also, because the sonic detonators are on the ground already, to retry you just reload and move to the side to trigger the spawn, so a reload only costs 2-3s. I'm sure there are ways this can still be optimized to perform it more quickly or make it more consistent.

EDIT: I've found doing it from here with 4 grenades, aiming at the same spot, is actually more consistent. I did it 8-10 times and it didn't work only once, and its a bit faster https://imgur.com/QM0kO2r

The cheat code "lamasu" unlocks all the levels, then you can make saves at the parts of the level that you are interested in. Is that what you mean? I'm not sure what kind of tools you are referring to. There also isn't a ton of tricks in the run that are particularity difficult, even when you are starting out. Doing them quickly can take more practice, but there aren't any tricks that will take hours of practice before you can do them consistently. The way that I started, and the way I think it's best to practice, is to just start doing runs of parts of the game. Then you can replay the levels and missions that you are need more practice on. Start with running without having any specific speed goal in mind, then move to practicing specific tricks once you are familiar with it.

You need to double load the level by quicksaving and quickloading while the level is first loading

kram11384 years ago

No, the ini files shouldn't matter. The save files shouldn't matter either. I really have no idea why it isn't working.

Sorry, I missed that video. Everything looks OK. You could try deleting the saves it makes and see if that helps. It shouldn't need a specific split file.

Just went back to look at the code and it basically just splits whenever there is a new save file in the save folder. If it still isn't working after deleting the saves, I'm not sure why it isn't working.

Ah, I see. So basically, once you put the dll in the components folder, you should be able to add it as a control component, like this: https://i.imgur.com/BjmJlXK.png You don't add a scriptable autosplitter. That is just for asl files, which this is not. Then once you add the component, you should have the option to set the save folder path, so the component can read the save folder.

kram11384 years ago

If you are getting saves in there, it means the mod I made is working, the live split component just isn't working. What does your live split swrc component configuration look like

kram11384 years ago

Yea, the component isn't a script. Sorry it wasn't clear, you don't need the asl file. You put the dll in the components folder and add the swrc autosplitter, not the scriptable autosplitter as you mentioned. Once you've done that and replaced those game files it should work. It should work with any split file as long as they have a split for each level. If not, can you load a level in the game without live split running and check your save folder to see if there is a folder there with the name of the level?

I don't know how to fix it. Mine is like that too. I just use the keyboard for navigating in the menu

Yea, it sometimes doesn't properly remove the saves if you exit livesplit without resetting or a few other things.

I disagree with that judgment. We already know that it is a frame perfect trick. While it may be possible to get consistently, my guess is that is isn't really worth spending the time to practice it to get to that level. You would be able to save much more time just practicing the rest of the game and make up much more than the 15s that you would save. Overall, the game simply isn't optimized enough to justify spending the time on a <15s time gain from a frame perfect trick. You are welcome to try, but it wouldn't be my recommendation. There aren't a log of tricks in the segmented runs that aren't possible in RTA, which tells us there is a lot of time to be gained from just playing the game better.

The first level of kashyyyk and the first level of the bridge mission also saves time if you double load. And the one right after blowing up the bridge. I don't remember the level names offhand

I updated the dll, but the process for using it should be the same. You need to make sure to configure the plugin correctly. There is a setting in the configuration for the plugin. You need to set it to your game save folder so it can tell when new levels are loading

The bumps would be the only thing that is affected by fps in a noticeable way if it's already about 100.

I would definitely give the autosplitter a try. It's not too difficult to set up and once you start using it, you can't go back. Especially with double loading and other things you need to be doing when the levels are changing you don't want to have to worry about splitting.

For double loading levels with start buttons, not every one gives an advantage. Check out the thread on double loading to see exactly what happens for each level. For some it only saves a very small amount of time, so if you struggle with doing it it's not really worth it. For others, it's saves a lot of time, so you should do it.

I updated my autosplitter recently and it should work for everyone. I've noticed that because of the way it works it sometimes splits when it shouldn't or misses a split, but that is rare. I think it's specifically on one Kashyyyk level. If you have issues with it, let me know.

I play in full screen mode and as you probably can tell from my ribs I don't use any fancy overlay. I just use the green screen thing. I think I use widow capture, but I'm not totally sure. Sometimes I need to alt tab out of the game once or twice for obs to pick it up.

For livesplit I use the autosplitter, so I don't really use the keyboard controls except to reset.

For double loading levels, there is no timing. Just do it as fast as possible. Like ISlide mentioned, there is one or two levels where you have to delay it slightly, but it only saves a few seconds on those levels, so don't worry about it now.

For the into the hive bump, you don't jump at all. You just look down at the crate, hold forward and you will eventually magically teleport on top.it's also fps dependant, so if you can't do it, just jump on the railing. The bump barely saves time, and if you don't get it right away it can actually lose time compared to jumping.

For squad following, do as ISlide mentioned. The one level I consistently have issues on is at the beginning of into the hive. I find that after the level loads, wait for all the audio to be done before forming up and 62 will always follow you.
