If you try them out, I bet they would be more likely to be added :) Speaking from experience with other game leaderboards
Hello, I'm happy to see your interest in the game! It's true that getting Coo in 4-4 is faster. If everything is done perfectly, it saves around 12 seconds. However, the strats with Coo are more difficult. So, instead of going for a 1/3 chance to save up to 12 seconds, I went for a consistent couple of seconds in not waiting for the bag, and then using easier strats for the next few levels. Overall just a safer play, giving me more opportunities to reach the late game. For 6-4, Coo is much more important. If you don't get him, the fastest thing to do is just go back to 5-3 and get him, which takes around 33 seconds. For which bags contain which animal, unfortunately I don't have a list. I know enough of them for backup strats in no-reset runs, but I wouldn't be able to recite it off hand.
Feel free to ask any other questions you may have!
Hello! Personally I am always happy to see new people running this game, feel free to ask if you have any questions!
I like your ideas, but too lazy to implement them, so I made you mod :) One note is that the DS version is a completely different game, so it should be its own game page. Not sure about PS3, but I think that is the same game, but available for download on PS3. Good luck!
I would say that anything allowed by tasvideos.org is good enough for me. http://tasvideos.org/EmulatorResources.html
That said, I wouldn't reject a run based on emulator used unless I had reason to believe it was specifically inaccurate.
Hi Dani, if you click the "Guides" and "Resources" sections at the left, there are quite a few guides already made. They should be great for helping you get started. Welcome to Pokemon speedruns :)
In Fixed World, a present located in a certain spot on a level will always have the same contents. The outer package will look different each time, but the contents are the same. As far as different platforms, they should all be the same, though I haven't tested it myself. I'd be extremely surprised if they were different.
I'm excited! I want to run Rue but I don't want to route it lol. Plus still focused on Mint for the time being :)
A lot of runners like to race randomizers, you could probably find people who'd want to race with you. It's also quite reasonable to route and run a particular seed to get a better time on it, or to run different seeds each time. Being as it is unofficial, it wouldn't be tracked on this leaderboard, but that shouldn't stop you from running it :)
I think Reboot's idea is good. Best of 3 is more similar to what other speedrun communities use, for example Crypt of the Necrodancer, for which the runs are comparably long.
Most people use a capture card to get the NES signal to USB. Probably the most common cheap one is a Dazzle, you can get it for $50-$75 on sale.
Hi friends, how do you do the level skip glitch? I looked online but couldn't find anything. It seems super interesting :)
