If you want to do an input display from console, then you need to do a lot of things that include getting an extension cable for the controller, splitting the wires and soldering them to an adruino or a similar kinda board to read the inputs and then also sending them back out to the console. Then connecting that to your computer via USB and reading the inputs/putting them on a display with NintendoSpy software.
I probably butchered that explanation but basically, if you're not good with soldering, then you're probably gonna wanna find someone to commission to make you one (some people often make them and sell them). Otherwise, I think there are in depth guides out there on the exact process you need to go through to to fully build one from scratch.
Emulator rules differ based on game/community - check with the moderators of the game you're interested in running to find out if emulators are legal.
In most cases, PS1/PS2 emulation is usually always banned because they run faster than console and for Gameboy, Gambatte is usually allowed while Visual Boy is banned for the previous reason.
You can make posts in HL specific forums, but cluttering the main forums with topics like this when none of us here have experience in Half Life speedrunning is not the way to go
I get that you're passionate about this I'm sorry that I can't provide anymore help, but just making more and more posts here in the main forum won't accomplish anything and will just annoy people.
Obviously that's a decision for the site's admins, but auto deleting runs on banning is a bad idea imo. Just because a user gets themselves banned from the site for something doesn't mean their runs are automatically illegal or rule breaking. They could have perfectly valid runs, but get banned for being abusive in the forums. That wouldn't warrant a deletion of their valid runs.
If a run is rule breaking then it's up to the game's moderators to remove that run. And in the case of a run being rule breaking like that, a moderator should have never have approved the run in the first place. Sounds like w/e game you're referring to has a moderation issue as opposed to a banned user issue.
I had problems with Livesplit crashing and had a couple cases on my old laptop where Livesplit ate my CPU the way Chrome eats RAM. Both of those led me to WSplit (especially since I used practically none of the customizable features Livesplit offers).
But yeah, Livesplit is definitely the better option in 99% of cases and it does offer amazing features and customize options. Plus like Drakodan said, it's still updated constantly whereas WSplit was last update in 2013 I think or something like that.
One of my best friends in the speedrunning community is like 35 and he's been experiencing a huge influx of support over the past 6 months (closing in on 2k followers after hitting 1k about 1 year ago exactly). Numerous other people I've met through him are also in their late 30s and are still speedrunning games and many of them are quite good at the games they run.
The point is, there is no age limit on having fun. And that is what speedrunning is - a fun hobby. If you have the time to invest in it, then go for it. You don't have to be the best at a game or the youngest one out there. As long as you're having fun, that's what counts. And if you're friendly then people will watch you as well.
I mean they aren't really that dead, people usually talk in each of the forums every day (or once every few days). The most active forums are by far The Site and Introductions, but every so often Talk can get going pretty good too.
In general though, the site wide forums aren't super duper active because most people I'm sure spend most of their time talking in game forums or external places like Discord servers. Most of the chatter here in the main stuff is for questions/answers and whatnot.

XSplit/OBS for streaming and recording. WSplit/Livesplit for a timer (my personal favs are XSplit and WSplit for whatever it's worth).

If the game is on here, just post your time. If the game itself isn't even on here, then go here http://www.speedrun.com/requestgame and request the game be added (you will be added as a moderator for the game as well).
Happy running and gl
It can sometimes take a few days for the admins/mods to follow up on this thread, so just give it some time for them to get to your request.
Considering this is now the second time we've had to tell you this my patience is running thin, but once again, this is not the place to ask game specific questions as most of us won't know what you're talking about if we don't personally know the game inside and out. I'm sure a lot of us know a few games really well, but none of us knows everything about every game.
So once again, ask in the HL discord or SourceRuns forums like PackScieneces just said. Or reach out to a top runner of the game and ask them as they will either have the answer or they can push you in the right direction.
tbh if you don't even have the game (and it's a big maybe/hope you'll get it at all 6-7 months down the road) you shouldn't even be a regular mod, let alone a super mod for a game.
That's how people end up with like a dozen games they mod and it's how games end up with inactive mods - people request mod for a game they may or may not run, get mod, forget about the game/don't get it/don't run it, disappear from the LBs and then people later on can't get a hold of any mods and they end up posting here.

I know this bot was already reported but Im reporting it again because I promised yesterday I would http://www.speedrun.com/user/busett1115
@jo_ninja This is a last resort thread for when you have an issue/pending runs and can't reach the moderators.
One moderator was active on the site a couple hours ago and both have twitter accounts and other social media links to contact them if you are having any issues with pending runs or other questions. I'd recommend reaching out to them first with any issues or questions. One of the mods is also a super mod so if you have a strong desire to moderate the boards, ask them to add you and they should be able to.
Why would you delete the tweet? How are they going to know you tried to contact them if you delete your tweets, to them it might then look like an error and they're not going to pay any attention to you.
EDIT: Deln apparently types faster than I do

It might be helpful to know the exact game you're talking about.
But if I understand correctly, the answer to your question is "yes". If a game tracks individual stage times and you happen to PB in a particular stage while doing an "All Stages run" then you can definitely submit your individual stage PB unless there are rule differences (for example, if a Stage in the All Stages does something not allowed in a single stage run, then you cannot submit it).
It's like how some people do "All Categories" runs of games. The run itself is a single segment run of every category for a game, but if one of those categories, say Any%, is a PB, then they are allowed to submit that specific part of the All Categories run as an Any% PB.
Hopefully that made sense.
