You can keep a Mario 120 star file in one of the 6 slots, so you can load it and play as Luigi. You can even copy it to a different slot before starting a run so you can save and still have a clean Luigi file for next time

@WhicheverMirror: The loader isn't the problem there, loading from USB/SD is much faster than loading from a disc, but loading an official disc through loaders like Gecko OS or Swiss is fine

From what I could find online, WiiFlow can't run GC games directly, so it depends which GC loader you give it in the settings

We ban top emu times because as 1Ups explained, emulation varies from one PC to another so emu runs can't meaningfully be compared, even with one another. For the same reason, a separate emu leaderboard wouldn't make sense either. We allow low emu times because they tend to be more spread out so the emulation differences don't matter as much, and it allows new players to start running without having to get official hardware right away. Call it half-assed if you want, but it's meant to help people in your situation.

If it makes you feel any better, Nintendo stopped selling GC games and Wiis long ago, so they wouldn't get any money from you unless you choose to buy a Smash Ultimate controller from them

True any% would look like this:

It's not realistically happening RTA, but on the off chance that someone pulls it off, these rules would prevent the category from being dead forever

The leaderboard for 3D All-Stars is at https://www.speedrun.com/sm3das/ but there's currently no IL leaderboard for it.

As long as you use an official disc, yeah

I don't think it warrants a variable on the board, especially as it seems people will be switching between both kinds of controller mid-run. Switch controllers are bad for travel skip and underwater levels because FLUDD takes half a second to start spraying or hovering, but good for manta and Sirena 6 because of easy spam-sprays.

Your best bet is probably to use the turbo nozzle

Usually it's getting close to him and spam-spraying him with a rollout, the one in Noki uses a ground pound instead because it's more convenient. To unlock Yoshi on the plaza, the best way is to spray him down as he runs left, but a spam-spray kill also exists if you waterslide at him from Ricco instead.

Sunshine ILs only moved to a spreadsheet, which would be a fine way to implement them for 3DAS too imo. SRC's level leaderboards were bad enough for one game, I can't imagine setting them up for 3 different games at once with a single set of categories.

The 3D All-Stars Sunshine leaderboard can be found at https://www.speedrun.com/sm3das#Super_Mario_Sunshine but there are no plans to have category extensions for it at the moment.

I think it would make sense to add it since it's allowed in the original and was always the least controversial option to skip the cutscenes anyway

PAL Sunshine is kinda carried by language, if you ignore it it's tied with USA and JP 1.1, and probably around 15 seconds slower than JP 1.0 because of plaza load time differences. We don't know yet if that difference is reduced by the All-Stars version generally having much faster loads.

Sprayless is already a thing on the category extensions board: https://www.speedrun.com/smsce#Sprayless

There are two required uses of the spray nozzle, first to shoot a Poink at Petey to wake him up in Bianco 5, and second to shoot rockets at Mecha-Bowser in Pinna 1, so the category only bans shooting water with the spray nozzle (or juice with Yoshi).

Hi all,

We've decided to close the Individual Shine leaderboards on speedrun.com. A few years ago, a spreadsheet was created to track IS times done using practice codes. It made grinding much more efficient, removed the verification step, and was easier to browse than its SRC counterpart, so it quickly caught on as the main IS leaderboard in the community. Until now, the SRC boards stayed out of concern for accessibility, but at this point they're only confusing for newcomers and don't reflect the current state of competition. Here is an archive of the boards, and the spreadsheet can be found under Individual Level Leaderboard in the sidebar, or at http://sunmar.io/il

Thanks for reading!
