I am not quite sure what your question is, you can pause the timer (if you use livesplit) by going into settings and using a bind. You can't pause the console but you could pause an emulator. I would not recommend doing it since the rules are strict and abuse of it won't be tolerated.

You can always play https://www.speedrun.com/enduro It has some easy categories which are around 2~5 mins and some longer ones, it can be played on an emulator and it's more fun than it might seem. It's more complicated then it might seem too.

I wanted to do speedruns (preferably not long ones) and after buying the GDQ book about speedrunning I thought "Why wait for the book to arrive, read and then start' so I just did a speedrun of my first ever game that I ever played. It was less then 2 minutes but it was a lot of fun. Now I am planning on doing some Level runs from games I like

I wanted to talk about what I was speedrunning yesterday to a friend, and I don't know the proper term. "I speedran" just doesn't sound right and I don't hear anyone use it.

Should this just be avoided by saying "I was doing a run" instead of using speedrunning in the past tense?
