We have 4 active players that are currently mods and I will leave it for them to update. I will check back if not in the near future to make sure they are added. sorry for delay on this, these changes should be coming very soon!
chill out changes being made, Not sure if we need 1p listed for doubles? maybe change to 1p 2 controller?
I am all about pushing the boundaries and trying to replicate things only thought to be possible in a TAS run.
Im highly intrigued by these discoveries and I might see if I can get some buddies who are good at finding / exploiting glitches to see if this can be applicable in a speedrun.
I will give this speedrun a look soon
yea, looks like I will need to add sub categories for versions of the game too since there are major differences. I can do it or add mods. Have had this similar issue with other games were multiple versions of the game available leads to dividing the leaderboards. In this case it would be very empty having no runs for them, but I will add them and also add a tournament category. I just need to do a bit of research first like are there different difficulties, singles doubles etc.
Yea, I verify runs if submitted. I don't always check forums of Games on SRC (honestly rarely ever do) but if a run gets submitted I always check it out for all the games I mod. not much of a community for this game but it looks like tournament mode has been requested. Should have DM'd me a while ago about it, I would have responded much much sooner. There are no notifications for forum posts, nor do I look at them. Would be best to reach me on twitter, popping into my stream, or dm me on src
So I automatically put "No Manip" for all the runs right now. If Manip was used then might want to re-submit. Any of the new mods can check for that, If I have time I will look over the runs and see if Manip is being used.
I have no way to tell what console people are using other then the version SNES, Playstation or Sega Saturn. If they are playing on Wii VC for Snes or if they are playing on playstation 1-5 I have no way to tell. Load times would be a give away but I can't tell other then that
I am okay with having a vote on this.
if there is a vote, I would have multiple options available such as starting timer on powering on console, starting timer selecting new game, starting timer after entering name, starting timer after selecting Sex of leader.
Would also do a vote on when to stop timer whether it's on final hit, after fade out of final fight, after final input, or after credits.
This would obviously mean that all runs need to be re-timed based on that decision, and if powering on console and or after credits are decided then runs that don't have those in the posted video would be disqualified.
I am open to debate and discussion on this
I think I actually answered my own question as far as requirements go.
Discussion however if some of the categories should be combined.
Emperor Ending and Empress ending only difference is selecting Male or Female,
Hierophant Ending and Priestess Ending only difference is selecting Male or Female,
Sun Ending and Moon Ending only difference is selecting Male or Female,
Those three categories can be combined together or left seperate. The run is no different, but you get a different ending so for now I will leave them seperate, but as far as the speedrun goes, they would be the same pretty much.
But like I mentioned in another forum, only issue with having a bunch of categories and not very many runners is the boards will look empty. I feel like the categories all have their own merit and should be there, and it's better to list them now instead of later when there are 40+ runners of the game.
I would like to add Devil Ending as a category. I need to have a clear description of what the category requirements are. Same as re-adding Best Ending or renaming that category to Good Ending or Hero Ending. The rules need to be clearly defined and easy to understand. I can add the categories now and add in the Ruleset soon, just want to make sure the entire community is on board with the definitions for those 2 categories.
Either way, the recording submitted for runs should indefinitely include setting up of the RNG manip
I do heavily agree in general for any speedrun anybody does for any game, the recording should start with powering a console on. This in itself helps distinguish what is being played on. I do that for all of my runs and would encourage that for all speedrunners in general. However thats not something that is easy to enforce, and doesn't need to be done, more of a gesture of authenticity for runs. Clearly this game has RNG manip, whether or not to add a variable if RNG manip is used is up for debate. Thinking about it now I might add a variable for this to select when submitting runs, as it is optional to do for runs and does make a HUGE difference in how the game is played. As far as the timing for FIRESEAL starting after entering the FIRESEAL letters made sense to me because how fast you enter those characters should not be part of the run. I get the debate on whether this should be universal, as RNG manip is a thing and if you start at new game for full game and choose to do an RNG manip, you will "lose time" setting up that rng manip initially. This might warrant a group vote as I don't want to make a cut and dry decision individually when the community should be involved in making that decision.
Changed to 100% for now. If anyone has any objections let me know.
Also if Best ending should be added as a new redefined category that can be done. I will add a "Devil" Category since people have put work into that. There seems to be an open debate on potentially adding categories based off specific routes that are unique. I am more then down to add more categories, just need to discuss in depth what is required for those runs / what defines those runs
I am sorry for not keeping up with things concerning this game. New School Boxer hitting me with a Direct message was the best way to reach out to me. I moderate over 100 games and speedrun over 300 games so I definitely don't keep up with SRC forums as much. Hitting me with a Direct message will definitely result in a quicker response. I have added Mods, so you guys can make necessary changes. This game not having over 20ish runners creating a bunch of categories that are hard to understand what they are and what is different may cause confusion to people interesting in picking up the game. I am currently working in depth to try and fix what I can. Whatever I miss or could use additional touch ups please discuss.
Yea, I am making this change to the leaderboard now.
I can of need to gather information on whether people were running on Playstation 4, Nintendo Power Kiosk etc.
is the vannila game gonna get its own category?
No, it's completely entirely possible. I did runs on the Party Edition, which is a different game listed on SRC.
There are a couple minor differences on how to get the items in NES, but it is otherwise the same, and the category should be listed as I will do runs and it is a legit category
I will submit a 100% run with requiring both games 100%.
Could also do an all Charaboms category.
Ill post the runs in forum here if anything showing what that would look like. I have a GBA Link Cable and both cartridges, I am pumped up and ready to Roll this out
what happened with this?
is this intentional or unintentional?
