Remember to add the emulator used in your submissions

List of accepted emulators, based on our testings and allowed for most PS1 games are these: • DuckStation (At normal speed, without any loading acceleration) • XEBRA • BizHawk 2.5.2 or newer • mednafen • RetroArch (Beetle/Beetle HW) • ePSXe 1.9.0, 1.9.25, 2.0, and 2.0.5

BizHawk Setup: Games can only run under the cue format. • PSX > Options • Select either mednafen mode option. • Config > Speed/Skip > Audio Throttle To verify that you are running with Audio Throttle enabled you must hit the increase/decrease speed keys [plus/minus] it will display a message on screen.

RetroArch Dedicated Rules: You must show settings of the core settings before/after the run. Your settings must match this: • CPU Dynarec: Disabled (Beetle Interpreter) [Default] • Cycles: 128 (Default) • GTE Overclock: Disabled • GPU Overclock: 1x (native) • Skip Bios: Disabled. • Access Method: Synchronous • Loading Speed: 2x (native) • PAL (European) Video Timing Override: OFF Recommended: Keep PGXP Disabled Custom settings are allowed for anything that isn't mentioned such as resolution.

Runs submitted before this post that used not allowed emulator will keep being part of the leaderboard, but using those emulators for new runs are not allowed.

Hi. Along with a friend we are leaderboard mods for a game where we have been dealing with a runner who does not follow the rules, making that we reject their runs. We explained them the reasons why we rejected the runs but the runner just spam our DMs here and in Twitch to call us "stone heads" and treating us like if we were incompetent to manage a leaderboard, which has no sense for us as the new rules we added were based on their suggestions but looks like now they don't agree with the rules they were looking to implement for the game

Their attitude is the main problem, as if we keep rejecting their runs they keep insisting in submit them, and if we don't approve them they still spamming our DMs to a point where is annoying to deal with them, so I wanna know what we can do about it

For now we have been considering into banning them from submitting runs for that game, but due to their attitude nature we don't know if site mods and/or managers should look into this and try to look for a solution for the situation

Thanks in advice

Hi. I was trying to add a game to a game series, but instead of adding it a new board was created and I cannot find the delete game button. If the duplicated board can be deleted and the game can be added to the game series I'm gonna appreciate that

Board that needs to be deleted: https://www.speedrun.com/httpswww.speedrun.comgawgmulti

Game series: https://www.speedrun.com/gawg Board that needs to be added to that game series: https://www.speedrun.com/gawgmulti

For a long time, obsoleted and commonly banned PS1 emulators were used on Pepsiman since those were the only ones that played CD audio tracks for levels, but thanks to MrMonsh was discovered that a simple solution to this issue was to load the .cue file instead of .bin, meaning that emulators like PSXfin and smartphone ones now are banned.

You must also state what emulator is being used when submitting your run and always remember to load the .CUE file to get CD audio tracks. If your version doesn't has the .cue file or it doesn't play game music, you can use the version shared in Resources.

If you have an emulator suggestion or any additional questions feel free to contact leaderboard mods on Discord.

When I was trying to do my first BTG run I accidentally discovered a way to skip levels (like in NES version).

Looks like some stages has an item that looks like a ball with wings (or a golden snitch). If you defeat an enemy and you're lucky to get it you can skip stages. At the moment I was able to find 3 of them.

First one (Timestamp: 22:16) makes you go from B18F to B12F and the second (Timestamp: 38:16) moves you from 05F to 09F:

When I was uploading my run I decided to give a try to a BTG attempt again (offstream) and accidentally found a 3rd one that makes you go from B09F to B02F:

I don't know exactly the pattern that you need to follow to get those skips and/or if you need to defeat specific enemies to get it, this is something that need some testings. Plus I think that probably the item can spawn in another stages.

I have been trying to find a way to capture the emulator window on OBS but the most I can get is the options bar and game feed. I cannot capture the full window as a proof that I'm using an allowed emulator.

Is there a way to capture all the window without using the capturing screen option??

I use Gambatte

Hi everyone. I have been planning to run this game for a while but I'm kinda curious if using 3DS streaming software (planning to use NTR) is allowed to record runs??

I ask this since 3DS capture cards are not produced anymore (plus is hard to find one nowdays) and at the same time I don't wanna use a webcam pointing to my 3DS

MexicoGhostSenpai4 years ago

Maybe this has been answered before (I wasn't able to find info about this) but checking the rules it says that NTR software to capture footage is not allowed. Does it affects the gameplay?? If that's the case, in which way does it affects it??

I wanna run the game but I don't wanna use a camera pointing to my 3DS (it looks awful imo) and nowdays is impossible to find capture cards for 3DS

For the dummy 0.00 load file is not required anymore to stream when you create the loading file. You can use a 0.00% load file to skip the first cutscene or start a new game and watch it

Will modify the rule in another day, since for know I've been kinda busy

Is there an specific reason about running the PAL release instead of NTSC?? Does PAL is optimal??

MexicoGhostSenpai5 years ago

Some people were asking me about the possibility of allowing to load a dummy 00.0% file in order to skip the 1:17 cutscene that the game has before it can be played

For a long time N64 console runners needed to deal with this while emulator runners just load a savestate to skip this (not recommended at all but sometimes that happened), and then they realized that making a dummy savefile after watching the cutscene allowed to skip it entirely, helping to save 1:17 minutes each time they started a new run, so after analysis, console and emulator runners now are allowed to make a dummy save file each time they start to streaming the game, and then use the file to start every attempt

In order to make your run approved, all you need to do is this:

When you start your stream you can make the dummy savefile, and after each reset you just need to load the savefile you created before.

Saying this, you need to have the option to preserve your past boradcast activated, otherwise your run loading a dummy file is gonna be rejected. This applies also for emulator runs, meaning that now savestates are banned. And if you make an offline attempt (local recording) you cannot make the dummy savefile.

Any questions about this please feel free to make them on this post or to send me a message through Discord

After memeing and consulting Boyks some changes were made to the game's leaderboard:

  • Gnome% is not a misc category anymore, so feel free to run it
  • All Endings: Basically if you're fast and lucky you can get 3 PBs with this category
  • All Cans: The equivalent to 100%. Needed to do this just to see if the game has an alternative ending if you got all the cans. I added the amount on them of the rules, but if you find a new can, feel free to dm me since maybe I missed one

After waiting some time for this, finally I was moved from verifier to super mod. Now, there're some things that are gonna change and I opened this thread principally to talk with all actual and new runners about new changes I have on mind and the one you think it should be added

For now I have added the next rules for future submissions:

  • Game versions: As we know, this game got different releases, making them being diferent from each others, so, to resume words when we discuss about the game, we're gonna call the versions like this:

  • Version 1: N64/DC/PC

  • Version 2: PS1

  • Version 3: PS2/GC

  • All new submissions needs to have game audio in order to be approved: I know that some people likes to play/run games with custom music playlists during runs, but the problem this has is that the vods gets muted segments, or sometimes the videos are blocked in some countries. Also having the game audio helps a bit to know if a run was or not spliced when somebody doubts about it. For now this rule can be reconsidered for non-top runs (mostly for N64 runners since they deactivate in-game music to reduce lag, for this case maybe external music can be added). I'm aware that not so many people runs the game so maybe some people will think that this rule is dumb, but as I've said before, this rule can be reconsidered, at least for non-top runs

  • Emulator runs needs to show an input display program: We know that it's super easy to manipulate emulator runs, making them look as a regular gameplay, so, as in all games I'm mod, if you wanna have more chances to make your run get approved, emulator runs should use an input display. Emulator runs submitted before the day I posted this avoids this rule, but now all future emulator runs needs to use an input viewer as an anti-cheating proof

  • Allowed emulators: For people who wanna emulate the game can use one of the next emulators: N64: • Project 64 v1.6 • Project 64 v1.7 (recommend) • M64Py v0.2.4 (Mupen64Plus v2.5.0) [Linux only]

PS1 (updated on May 8th 2022): • ePSXe 1.9/2.0 (recommend) • BizHawk 2.5.2 or newer • DuckStation (At normal speed, without any loading acceleration) • XEBRA • mednafen • RetroArch (Beetle/Beetle HW) June 22th 2022 Update: ePSXe 1.8 and Zebra are not allowed anymore, as both have faster loads than origina hardware. All PS1 emulator runs needs to have memory cards activated. Vod should start from "Press Start Button" screen to validate that.

Dreamcast: • Demul (recommend) • nullDC • Flycast through RetroArch

Gamecube: • Dolphin

With this said, all PS2 & smarthphones emulators are banned due to inaccuracy. If you have questions about another emulators that are not listed, feel free to ask

  • Platforms obsoletes runs: As in most games of the site, platform can obsolete old runs, meaning that, for example, if you made a run on PC version and then you move to N64 getting a better time, your N64 run will be shown instead of your PC run. Maybe I can reconsider this moving N64 emu & PC runs to its own leaderboard

  • About emulator runs: Since N64 version recently got a lot of activity, console runners asked to move emulator runs to its own leaderboard. For now I have been looking for a way to add a subcategory for version 1 so we can have a leaderboard for console runs and another one for emulator ones. If somebody knows how I can do that I'm gonna be glad if you can help me. The last thing I wanna do is to add another category to split consoles and emulator runs

For now that's everything I wanna mention about this, if you don't agree with a point and wanna talk about it, please reply to this post. If you have an extra comment of you wanna make a rule/category suggestion, feel free to reply to this post. Also, if somebody wanna discuss more deep about new ideas for the game, hmu on Discord, Twitter or Twitch to keep talking about this. Both Scorpi and I will discuss at our discretion any new changes we're gonna implement, and, if in case of being neccesary we're gonna make it public before we apply new changes

That's all for now, and rescue Daisy

Is there a difference between languages for full game runs?? Talking about the speed/amount of text

MexicoGhostSenpai5 years ago

So, if I wanna post my highest score, how did I do the correct "timing" in order to submit my high score??

(Sorry if this was posted before, I looked for it but I haven't found any info)

MexicoGhostSenpai5 years ago

I see that all runs are done in the european version. Is that the optimal or which are the differences with the american release??

Planning to run the PSP version on PSTV

MexicoGhostSenpai5 years ago

So, how can I run this??

And which should be the rules for both categories??

MexicoGhostSenpai5 years ago

If you have an idea for a new category, you can make a suggestion on this post
