Steam link: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2487350/Alex_Jones_NWO_Wars/

Not sure how different the Steam version is from the web-based online version. If you bought the game on the official website email SVGS at hello@alexjonesgame.com using the same email you used to purchase the game with and they will send you a Steam key for free. (The devs themselves said they were not expecting Valve to allow the game on Steam so it's nice of them to hand out keys so you don't have to buy it twice.)

Not a question, just buttmad that you got the first run for this game and I didn't. Been busy with Christmas/holiday stuff, lol.

UPDATE: Good news @AntBlueR my support ticket was responded to and now I am a moderator of this game. First order of business is to clean out the pipeline of pending runs, and then I will look into adding a Buster Only leaderboard since I agree if it's a thing on the main line Mega Man games, and this is just a MM romhack, we should have it here too.

edit: That didn't take long, lol. I have added the Buster Only category to the leaderboards. I don't do Buster Only runs so I am unclear on this, but there is one particular boss you HAVE to use sub-weapons on? Who is this boss specifically so I can add that clause to the leaderboard rules? Thanks, and happy running! :)

United StatesGatorbox7 months ago

It's not a bad idea especially if it's a common leaderboard category for other Mega Man games. The problem is I think the mods of this game have abandoned their accounts. Kaiser was last online months ago and Polski_brony seems to have only registered just to submit their run of this game because they were last online five years ago.

Because when people say "McDonald's" they either pronounce the Mc as "Mick-Donalds" or "Mack-Donalds".

It took me far too long to figure this out on my own.

"why do you want to follow so many games?"

I like to go window shopping looking for potential games to run, so I follow them so I can go back to them later and look at the leaderboards, forum posts, guides, etc. Also I happen to run a lot of games. (I follow 450 games and I'm locked out of following any more.)

Interesting deep dive! I figured the game would eventually wrap around at some point but I couldn't place where that happened, and I had never played it long enough to get to that point. I created the original leaderboards for this game and I set the category as Max Stats/Nitros because it just seemed to me like there was nothing else left to do once you maxed out your truck except play the game on an endless loop.

thread: Crimson Room

Okay, well as of January this year Firefox does not support Flash any longer, and the final update of Flash neutered it so that it doesn't respond anymore in ANY browser that tries to initiate Flash content.

~~I downloaded the DRM-wiped versions of Crimson Room, Viridian Room, and Blue Chamber from FASCO-CS.net... but White Chamber is again proving to be a pain in the ass. FASCO-CS.net initializes the game's preloader, start.swf (with English language modifier on the embedded site code), but this is the only file available for download. The second half of the game is missing.

I will be doing some poking around. The first 3 games play fine in a standalone Flash Player (which is still online as "Flash debugger" from Adobe, not sure for how long -- I've got backups just in case that I can provide).~~

EDIT: GOT IT ALL WORKING In order for White Chamber to work you need to grab two files from FASCO-CS.net, they are: www.fasco-cs.net/white_chamber/start.swf www.fasco-cs.net/white_chamber/main21.swf Do not rename either file, put them in a folder named "White Chamber" if you need a reminder so you don't get confused. When you launch "start.swf" locally with Flash Player, it will initialize main21.swf and the game will function normally. It'll be in Japanese though, as the only way to set the English language flag was with a URL modifier in your browser. English might be able to be hacked into the .swf's but I haven't dug that deep into the actionscript yet.

Anyways, all of the files are now mirrored in the Gatorbox "Secret Stash": http://gator.co/secretstash

That's cool. Not sure if there's a DOS website ya'll are getting these from, but you can buy a DRM-free copy from ZOOM Platform (they're like 3 bucks each). They also have the other games from this series like the 3D Dino Adventure, which also has an SRC page. :)

Like to make it a "meme" run? Just validated three runs today which is a lot for a relatively unknown game like this.

United StatesGatorbox3 years ago

Hey everyone, looks like the previous moderator deleted their account on speedrun.com (?) so either they appointed me as Cosmic Spacehead's moderator, or the website automatically gave it to me because I was the only other person on the leaderboard or something?

I am not sure. Got an email this morning that there was a new run awaiting verification and was like "wait a minute that's not my game".

So uh, a little bit about me. I usually moderate very simple games and all that, don't have a lot of free time, and I have some emotional issues that need some working through. Cosmic is a game that takes like an hour to beat -- so if it takes me a little while to get to your submission please be patient with me. I promise I am trying.

Thank you, and good luck to everyone running the game! May the Luk-E-Day Machine forever be in your favor!

Firefox still supports Flash, though they will ask you if you want to enable Flash applications. Additionally many derivatives of Firefox's code, such as Pale Moon, will also allow Flash.

Way more browsers out there than Chrome. I don't trust Google one bit so I stopped using as many Google products as I could, Chrome being one of them.

All four of the Crimson Room series of games are available on www.fasco-cs.net.

This is not the original website from back in the day, it is a fan recreation made to look identical to it. The author went through the trouble of cracking all of the Flash files to remove their URL checks so they can now be played on this website (instead of trying to reach the servers of the former fasco-csc.com which no longer exists).

As long as you have a browser that is able to play Flash content you should be able to play all four of these games, including the part in Crimson Room that requires you to find the safe combination!

Thanks! :) Yeah, Crimson Room has gotten to the point now where it's going to come down to fractions of seconds instead of whole seconds to determine WR's. I think a 57.xxx second run might be possible but you'd need like absolute perfect clicks and timing.

United StatesGatorbox5 years ago

I recently did a run of the "Beginner" difficulty that I will be submitting soon, but I noticed there are no leaderboards for the other difficulties in the game -- just wanted to know if there are plans to add them, as I was thinking about stepping up to Intermediate at some point.

thread: NanoQuest
United StatesGatorbox5 years ago

NanoQuest can be downloaded from archive.org here: https://archive.org/details/Nanoquest

In order to get this game to work on your computer you may need to run it in "compatibility mode" for Windows XP SP3. Alternatively, you may run the game inside a Windows XP virtual machine, however if you choose to do this please submit your runs to the "VM" leaderboards.

KNOWN BUGS/PROBLEMS -- Do not press the "V" key while playing the game. It appears to try and call a routine that was unfinished or taken out of the game and it will crash the program. -- Pressing "S" on the first stage will disable the skybox and other textures.

Q. Why two leaderboards? NanoQuest runs substantially slower on a virtual machine than a native OS and as such a run performed with a VM would not be able to compete with a time submitted from a non-VM attempt.

Q. This game doesn't work! I don't know what to tell you. NanoQuest was designed on and for Windows XP and it doesn't seem to like any other OS. Although it "works" on Windows 10 with compatibility mode options enabled, random crashes have been reported to happen in the final stage. We have not been able to consistently replicate these problems.

Q. Why won't my LiveSplit timer start? You will need to run LiveSplit with administrative privileges in order for your global hotkeys to work.

Q. Why RTA times only? The in-game timer is unreliable and affected by the game's framerate. Additionally, the game frequently messes with the timer in most of the levels. In levels 1, 4, and 5 falling off of the stage incurs a +30 second penalty. In level 2 the in-game timer freezes when you enter the "Nano Gallery". In level 4, if you collect all of the bonus items and use the warp portal you will be sent back to the start of the stage with the in-game timer reset to what it was when the level began originally.

Ah yeah, it's technically 50 LEVELS, not necessarily 50 exits. My suggestion didn't take that into consideration. My mistake. :(

Perhaps "50 Levels" is a more clear term, assuming that simply naming it "100%" isn't something that we can come to consensus on? (I personally am okay with calling it 100%, as historically I've always referred to it as that.)

thread: Puggsy
United StatesGatorbox6 years ago

So I've been thinking about what to call the "100%" category of this game since it's not technically a true 100%. Because there's 51 stages in the game and the "100%" route only lets you complete 50, how about we take a page from the Super Mario World community and rename it "50 Exits"?

Also, would it be worth it to maybe add a "Bonus%" category for completing the five stages unlocked with the password from the credits? Since the speed shoes basically invalidate many of the puzzles and intended level solutions in the game, what about a "No Shoes" category too?

I genuinely thought the hacky sack minigame was just some stupid thing that the game "devs" hamfisted into the game because it was a bare bones basic "game" that someone had thrown together.
