what do you mean by "taken away"? does it disappear from your inventory? are you not able to pick it up?
Hello, I can observe that having too much fps isn't ideal, since some item boosts give too much height, and some jumps seem harder (the item boost against electric barriers such as the last one in A1 in Any). So here are two questions :
- What is the ideal amount of FPS to have for Any% (required for all tricks to "work" consistently)?
- Is it possible to cap FPS using anything else than the performance settings? If not, what's the best solution to limit my FPS while keeping a stable amount?
Binding the jump action to your mouse wheel is accepted, pretty much every speedrunner uses it because you can't really bhop effectively and consistently using a keyboard key
A lot of research has been made on the fight, there is a spreadsheet somewhere in the discord server that shows a lot of different strategies. The current strats used by the top runners are the best people found. There is an advanced strat that involves Ralsei defending a bit more (iirc) that is probably done by nhaar. For further information, you should discuss in the discord server
THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT FOR ALL SPEEDRUNNERS, EVEN FOR OTHER GAMES YOU MIGHT RUN
Youtube is about to make a big update that might make a lot of runs on the leaderboards invalid. Any video that was uploaded before January 1st, 2017 and that is unlisted is going to become private What does that mean for us? Simply that if your run is hosted on youtube and was uploaded before 2017, it is going to become invalid. In order to avoid that (and we know that, sadly, not everyone will react), you can tell Youtube not to switch your old videos to private. How, you may ask? Just use this link : https://support.google.com/youtube/contact/older_unlisted_update It will take you to a site where you can input your channel ID and simply click on a button.
If that link scares you, you can check this page on speedrun.com : https://www.speedrun.com/news/833-2021-7-7-check-if-your-runs-are-at-risk-due-to-a-youtube-policy-change It is really quick to do and it will preserve your speedrun history, and a lot of current PBs on the leaderboards.

The real answer is that in Portal 2 there isn't any clear distinction between what's a glitch and what's not. Is bhopping a glitch? If yes, how can you make the difference between bhopping and jumping repeatedly? Are you allowed to strafe? If not, does that mean you aren't allowed to touch A or D while in the air?
Any category that implies playing on valve servers won't be added to src, for many reasons. As Ezze said, it will lead to bad behaviors in competitive matches. Unless you are smurfing, it is not possible to do this "speedrun" in a reasonable amount of time. Playing online brings many factors that are not speedrun-friendly, and make run verification extremely hard because there would be much easy ways to cheat.
Check the autosplitter settings through Livesplit and see if the checked boxes correspond to your amount of splits. The autosplitter does not recognize the part of the game you are in, it just knows when to split. You probably have more boxes checked than splits on your splitter
Hello, it is possible for us to give you this role. However I'd prefer making sure you deserve it before. Also I don't think that there will be many runs to verify in the future, yours are the only ones in like 6 months. If you want to talk about this you can add me on discord.
There's no loads in any speedrun, apart from one (and there's only one run on the boards iirc). What would be interesting is the ability to track specific data such as, as jtm said, when you pick up a weapon, or interact with something in a more general way. 99% of the cs speedruns are done on one map, so we don't have any actual load time. I've done some autosplitters and I know how hard it is to find this kind of data. I don't have time to do this, but one good place to start with would be to track ammunition : you can easily control its value so the pointer shouldn't be too hard to find
to me it sounds like not much people would run this category, and there is a lot of maps, so it would create big leaderboards that will probably not have more than 5 runners :/
Yeah I see, but that's not possible because :
- It would be completely easy to cheat
- The wr would quickly be a guy randomly disconnecting at the beginning of the first round
- What you propose is just a meme
I think that it might be a better idea for you to join the discord server in order to discuss this. I don't know if you use discord and I absolutely don't want to sound mean, but posts here notifies a lot of people, including runners that don't play talos anymore ^^
