Thanks for the replies, guys! Let's see how far I can get!
Oh, I didn't mean to say that. I haven't even done a full run yet, so saving time is not my biggest deal right now. What I have problems with is that I can;t do a full run yet because I get stuck on those flight levels. Was just wondering if you guys had a plan B for that or if it really means I have to die hard learn the flight levels?
Hey guys,
I am having a hard time collecting everything in the flight levels in the any% category. So what I was wondering was if you really need to get everything in the flying levels or if I could get less/change the levels up a bit to still get enough gems? I just want to be able to start a run and train the flying levels on my off time.
Greetings, BucketPls
Alright, I have been asking around on this to try and figure out how it works. One of the people is Rogue Warrior speedrunner Traz64. Since both games are made in the same engine it could might mean some of the same mistakes are in both games, so we could help each other out here.
What he had to say after watching the stunlock was the following: "Traz64: It looks like your hits are moving him slightly. Perhaps this is interrupting a scripted action he takes when he spawns and because he drops in he doesn't attempt to reroute himself back to that point. Enemies in rogue warrior have a scripted sequence to go through before their AI kick in (generally running to a specific cover point) and we normally use this to run past them before they start shooting. It could also be frame perfect to cause that displacement however."
I hope with this info we can figure this stunlock out and optimize this category!
Ah, I see dude! I will try and look what I can find as well! I'll keep you posted!
I have not yet found a clip in the Alien campaign, but that might be because there is no cover machanic.
However, there is only 1 place in the run where a clip could actually speed up the run once it is found, so if you by any chance could post a link here to an OOB skip guide that would be great!
Yeah, you can walk to the scientists' window to let them open the door, but that wastes too much time to make it worth.
Hey guys,
I noticed there is a bit of a faster way of doing research lab. If all is done correctly I think we can get it down to a 5:35 or maybe even lower if more is found!
What I did to get a 5:37 is breaking the lights before attacking the first guy. That way you skip some dialogue and waiting around.
An other small time saver is using shift+space to attack the second one instead of shift+mouse 1. That way you can attack a bit earlier. However, I did notice it did softlock a door from time to time when I did that, but we might be able to find a way around it!
Here is a highlight of what I did:
Hey guys,
Since a while I have been really interested in doing a Doom speedrun, but I can't seem to do the second skip in the game.
What I see people doing after they glitched through the first door with the "Glory Kill Glitch" is sitting in a corner, turning around and pressing the button, but what are the exact steps for this?
Alright, so I guess the new rule is: "Cutscenes can not be skipped unless you do something (Glitch or strat) during the run."?
If so, I will make the saves up to date where the cutscene skip is not included anymore.
Oh, now I do understand you.
But yeah, unless we find a way to skip the cutscenes during the run because of a glitch or strat I do not think it should be allowed.
ThinksTheClown, if you look at the save files I put in the resources section, those are set up to skip the first cutscene.
But now knowing it is more then just that cutscene it makes me kind of against it since there is a good 8 minutes at least to set it up and that is all before the time starts.
If it was an actual glitch or legit way to go through it I would be okay with it, but since you need to set it up buy playing parts of the game beforehand it makes it a NG+ category which Storytime isn't.
The reason why he still has to do all Hogwarts stuff again is because he is still doing Storymode. How he is able to skip the cutscenes in the first level of the 6th year is that he already played through the level but quit it before its completed. The save file has already seen those cutscenes that way so you are able to skip it.
Reason why I am against it is because all the stuff you need to have done before the run starts. Storymode is a NG speedrun, not a NG+ speedrun. That's where Replay and Freeplay come in.
@defqon_Jan, never ever have I stated that it is a replay run. However, the only way found to skip cutscenes is by having those cutscenes played already. This so means that he played the level till almost the end, went to the leaky cauldron and restarted the story. Just the idea that you need a set up like that makes me feel it is not NG anymore but NG+. It's not a glitch nor is it a strat you execute during the run. It all happens before the run.
Of course not. That would mean the any% would need multiple save files.
I just had a talk with AntiGravityMaster and he says the skip is now a strat. Because of that I updated the save files so you do not have to set up the skip anymore. The skip also works on the later years.
