its probably better to use ecwolf nowadays as its the most accurate and usable version

i would highly suggest DSDA-Doom 0.25.6 as the source port of choice for ease of use. https://www.doomworld.com/forum/topic/133096-dsda-doom-v0256-2023-01-15/

hey there! I haven't been the most active person in the world, and I checked this glitch out and the videos posted and I don't quite understand what the categorization is?

I noticed a lot of your runs load the game from saves instead of warping on startup, which is not ideal because of RNG issues (not sure how many people do this btw lol)

the other aspect of the IL timing to me is strange because technically the run is longer and also requires saves but none of this is counted in the run? I'm not sure if there was ever a discussion on that or where I can find it, but this seems bizarre to me to count in the same way.

I don't really think loading pre-run saves should count for a speedrun in the same way as regular runs do. What I mean, really, is that it's not really an "any%" kind of run, but more of a novelty thing as a side category, which I think is awesome (the routing efforts here are really impressive btw! Well done!) but really I don't think "any%" is an appropriate title for it. It feels more akin to a new game plus kind of run than anything else? Again, not sure where discussion has been, but if you can point me to any answers that'd be great. Cool find :) Getting back into the board and its nice to see so many players!

you should probably be using the warp commands to load the level on startup to avoid RNG seed issues.

@Lazarus I don't play quake and this isn't a quake forum so that is irrelevant. If crossposting worked, we'd do it. Most of us on the mod team talked to pac before he sold it to a corporation who destroyed the site about it, and it never happened. Everyone would love that outcome, but until srcom is functional, it won't happen. Ask the new owners about that.

Re: "totally closed site with no visibility", what do you mean? Once again, over 90% of doom speedrunners check DSDA frequently, even more thousands of people use doomworld and browse the speed forum all the time. I understand you come from a different world of speedrunning online, but speedrun.com is not a gold standard. I've been speedrunning games for about 10 years and can safely say I haven't cared about this website since pac sold it, and so many others who've been around for this long feel the same way. DSDA has all the visibility in the world for people who care enough to look, not to mention youtube and twitch has way more visibility than this website. Either way, if the new corporate overlords made it possible to sync DSDA with SRCOM, we'd do it in a heartbeat. Unless you want to sign up to list THOUSANDS OF RUNS onto srcom yourself without any payment, it's not helpful to complain without offering solutions.

@II3URNZ if you or anyone else sends me the demos I can try to forward them to 4shock for posting. Although it's much easier to just do it yourself :P

a nomo run is a few minutes, so feel free to record a demo of the run and we will absolutely post it there whenever you post. if you never recorded a demo, then there's nothing that could be migrated. :)

I think dsda looks a lot better than speedrun.com. Speedrun.com's layout is pretty awful, theres scrolling images that make things hard to read, and there's ads everywhere. Not to mention the system thats used for verification is slow and meaningless. I think that if you want to say DSDA is a bad website, you should provide a reason other than "I loaded it once and left after 3 seconds because I couldn't log in".

A lot of people put a lot of time and effort, more than any one of the people who use speedrun.com's leaderboard would ever conceive of, and to write it off as "bad" is offensive and honestly a little ridiculous. It's unnecessarily hostile and creates enemies for little to no reason.

@II3URNZ I highly recommend making a doomworld account if you enjoy the game. Doom is a pretty big community and 99.9% of us are over there. You'll make a lot of friends! :)

Just curious, been a while since I checked and saw that any% uses the beautiful adorable doggy straight from the jump, when I was under the impression any% is done from a blank save. Just wanted to get discussion here, regardless of how long it'd take. Have a good one :)

Hi there folks, I'm trying to do some runs for EDS and intend to do a run where I don't use passwords and unlock all the booster packs (close to 100%, but getting all the cards seems a little silly + i dont know if the game keeps track of %s) and want to know if a category can be added on here for that.

Ripped from a gfaqs post on booster unlocks: Tier 1 - Earn a total of 10 wins in Tier 1: Judge Man Defeat each Duelist 10 Times: Harpie Lady Defeat Yugi Muto 20 Times: Blue-Eyes White Dragon Defeat Joey Wheeler 20 Times: Exodia

Tier 2 - Advance to Tier 2: Tiger Axe Earn a total of 10 wins in Tier 2: Gate Guardian Defeat each Duelist 10 Times: Great Moth Defeat Mako Tsunami 20 Times: Gemini Elf Defeat Mai Valentine 20 Times: Launcher Spider

Tier 3 - Advance to Tier 3: Garoozis Earn a total of 10 wins in Tier 3: Relinquished Defeat each Duelist 10 Times: Black Luster Soldier Defeat Marik Ishtar 20 Times: Blue-Eyes Toon Dragon Defeat Umbra & Lunis 20 Times: Battle Ox

Tier 4 - Advance to Tier 4: Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon Earn a total of 10 wins in Tier 4: Millennium Puzzle Blue Defeat each Duelist 10 Times: Millennium Puzzle Green Defeat Seto Kaiba 20 Times: Millennium Eye Defeat Yami Yugi 20 Times: Buster Blader

Tier 5 - Defeat Simon once: Millennium Puzzle Yellow

Separate the categories, it's obvious that the gameplay styles are entirely different, if someone resets the console or game, have them note that and the moderators can judge whether or not things are fishy.
