Just letting you all know that I've made the leaderboard more accessible for our console players. Console runs will now show on the main page alongside PC runs, instead of being hidden away in a sub-category. Hopefully this encourages more console players to join us!
Please let me know if there are any issues with existing runs, since I had to mess around with variables and whatnot to tidy things up this way.
Just bought the game on sale and I was wondering if the fan patch to fix the widescreen is allowed for PC runs? I can see myself really getting into this game so I might end up doing a run.
Hey all, just quickly letting you all know that I've added the Secret Ending to our ILs. The run will be very different based on platform, as PC players can only get the ending through save file editing. Console players get to use the hidden developer room for the ending. I've tried to make the rules as clear as possible but if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask. Please be very, very careful that you don't accidentally reveal personal information through File Explorer if you do the PC run.
We have a new joint world record for any%, so I'm putting the question of whether or not we should include milliseconds in our leaderboard timings to the community. I'm going to wait for a few responses to come in, I know some people have likely walked away from the game for good so I don't need our full playercount. I'll probably make a decision once I get 3 other opinions.
Any chance Switch could be added as a platform? The game is now part of the Switch's GBC collection. I know it's technically just playing the game on an emulator but it's a standard one and it's accessible, so I think it could help bring new people to the game. Plus, games like original Pokémon Snap added Switch as a platform after the N64 app dropped.
I'm planning to run both the PC version and the Gameboy version anyway, but personally I'd like to be able to tag the latter as done on Switch.
Hey, so in a failed Family run I did earlier the cat got trapped in the flaming music room but the boss still spawned as normal. If the run was successful would that count as Any% rather than Glitchless? And does anyone know what causes this to happen? There was no cat body or anything left in the central hub area and I know the cat had definitely entered the piano room which I failed to extinguish in time.
So I did an oopsie and accidentally left the statue puzzle room and the puzzle auto-completed part of itself during my next attempt. If this can be replicated it could shave time off of everyone's run.
I think it'd be a natural inclusion to have an All Endings category since we have a category for individual endings. And I think it'd be pretty fun since it would still be very short. Would anyone else be interested?
Last time I asked for a category to be added to a game, I was the only one who bothered to try it so I think it should only be added if there's a wider audience so I don't feel like a narcissist getting a WR by default in a category I suggested. But I think it could prove popular.
Is there any reason why the timing ends after the ending cutscene instead of as soon as you trigger one? People could more efficiently grind out any% runs if time ended as soon as you triggered an ending cutscene. Wouldn't need to wait as long to see if you beat your PB and you could dive into the next run sooner.
Just wanted to draw attention to the rulesets I decided on for the new Full Game categories and get some feedback. These involve playing the Base Game + TOC + TLT.
I thought I'd allow more freedom in the "Any%" category by letting players choose to go the diamond or ruby path instead of the crystal path when possible to clear levels (I'm considering changing our other Crystal% categories to be similar if people want me to). For the "100%" category I decided that we'd end the category with the Trilemma escape.
I feel like these rulesets, combined with the ones we already had, give potential runners plenty of variety. There should hopefully be a category for everyone.
I'd appreciate any feedback and hope to see people make their mark on the leaderboards soon.
Happy running!
Hi there, just wondering if we could maybe make some misc categories to help encourage new runners to check out this game? With the third game by Joe Richardson under works, it'd be nice to see the games in the trilogy run both individually and back-to-back. These are some of my favourite point-and-click games and I think they need more love.
I was thinking one category could be a meme one like lust%, in the same vein as the sex% category for Fallout games. It'd be short and grab people's attention on the front page here.
I'm sure there are loads of fun categories we could create.
