New Categories to Draw in New Runners?

Hi there, just wondering if we could maybe make some misc categories to help encourage new runners to check out this game? With the third game by Joe Richardson under works, it'd be nice to see the games in the trilogy run both individually and back-to-back. These are some of my favourite point-and-click games and I think they need more love.

I was thinking one category could be a meme one like lust%, in the same vein as the sex% category for Fallout games. It'd be short and grab people's attention on the front page here.

I'm sure there are loads of fun categories we could create.

Could be fun to have some other quick categories going. I have a run awaiting review, and I've submitted another Joe Richardson game (The Preposterous Awesomeness of Everything) for inclusion on the boards as well.

I think the point-and-click games are a fairly niche type of speedrun already, and Joe's games are relatively obscure within that subset, but I'm the mod over on Procession to Calvary and I'd be happy to hear category suggestions over there.

I'm looking forward to learning Calvary sometime this year, I'll be sure to brainstorm categories then! I didn't realise Joe had other games, I'll be sure to check out The Preposterous Awesomeness at some point so you have some company on the leaderboard when it's added :)

Joe uses different versions of the same engine for all his published games, as far as I can tell, so you should feel right at home in Calvary as well! Excited to see more people running these games, at any rate.

I just checked out your run of the game and I think I saw a couple small optimizations I might try out in a future run.

Slightly off topic, but a couple minor tricks I've been using: I find running the game in windowed mode makes things easier, but I'm also on a larger screen, so that might just be me. There's also an option in Windows to have your cursor highlighted when you press ctrl, I've turned that on to keep track of my mouse during certain parts of the game for menu and clicking optimizations.

Thank you, I'll try windowed and that cursor trick is going to be a life saver!

Been thinking about other categories that we could see added here and the original prototype build of Four Last Things (https://gamejolt.com/games/four-last-things-prototype/150059) came to mind as one that could be an entertaining run, and probably not reasonable to have a separate game page for.

I have a touchscreen laptop that I was considering trying some runs on as well, but I feel like that might give me a distinct hardware advantage, so a separate category for touch-enabled devices might be a sensible addition as well.

I'd definitely be down for prototype runs! I just looked at a few screenshots and saw a few minor differences, so that should feel sort of fresh and new.

I ended up buying the mobile version of Four Last Things to mess around with and I have to say, touch controls do make things feel a bit simpler. I was hoping to come up with different categories while messing about on the go but I'm still drawing a blank for the most part.

Is there any real way to interact with the dog? I messed around a bit on the PC version before bed and couldn't find a way. A dog based category would be popular. Also interesting to note, the dog isn't in the mobile version from what I can tell.
