Decided to try out a new strategy for this run (for me anyway). I had always gone for room battle quests but someone in chat mentioned that exploration can also have good RNG and only spawn a single room battle and that, if it is exploration, you can run from it and still complete.

It took almost 80 attempts of this new strategy to get two exploration quests both with only one room battle.

RNG was mostly on my side, though I had a ton of fights on way to Necro. I also got 2x HWM in the coach. Would have preferred Hellion+HM I think.

This currently puts me in third! Now if I could get all my personal best segments lined up I could take gold after months of attempts!
