Hi, the timer starts from your first movement, not from the main menu.
Yep, john is right - when I first set up this page I added all the times I could find from m2k2's old PBs thread. I promise we're not cyber-stalking you!
I'm still getting the bug reported earlier when trying to reject runs (on chrome).
As of yesterday, when I try to reject a run (on desktop, chrome) I get redirected to this page:
Ah, sorry, I forgot that I can't add moderators for this game... I'd recommend using this thread to get added: https://www.speedrun.com/The_Site/thread/63nr7/
Hi dohz, that's a good question and a pretty unusual situation! My take on it is as follows:
- Firstly, I added switch as a platform, which should have been done some time ago.
- It seems like the only way to have consistency between platforms is to start timing after the minigame. My assumption is that the benefits of the minigame are fairly unimportant, but I'd like your advice here - are there any new strategies which are only possible on the switch version?
The other, and more important, issue here is that I don't actually run this game (I only have power because I'm a series mod). If Rainbow_Lemon is inactive on the site, I don't want to be in the position of verifying runs I don't fully understand. So, would you like to be added as a moderator?
I don't know much about the technical aspects of running GBA via SNES mini, but if it can be shown to be accurate, then I don't see a problem with it.
I think it'd be worth adding the old version of the game, either as an extra variable or as miscellaneous categories. It would be nice to still have your runs up!
What about sports teams though (football, rugby, etc)? You can't play for a "British" team, you have to pick one of the four.
I don't think this is a good analogy because when I do a speedrun, I'm not running for an English team, or a British team, or anything else. I'm just running for me, which is why I think I should be able to have my location displayed as whatever region I identify most with.
I have heard about it but I haven't played it yet, thanks for the reminder!
Yeah it submitted fine, I just didn't get time to watch it properly until this morning. But now I have and it was super cool! I was expecting it to be longer but your route worked out well.
That sounds great, I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with! Good luck :)
Your daughter (future speedrunner?) raises a good point. I tested this and it turns out that the event flag that turns on the ziplines in Kraid also despawns those two sidehoppers. Why? Who knows! There are a few other examples of event flags affecting enemy spawns, but usually it's to make more enemies later in the game. It's possible that the developers wanted to make it less likely for people to die on the way back from acid worm, since there is no save point immediately after beating the boss.
Feel free to post any more questions she has, maybe she'll find early power bombs next.
I am not too sure what you mean by that StarFalco. Either way, I added easy mode and some other stuff as misc categories. Go nuts!
No disorder is something I thought about but never put the time in to come up with a good route. I think it would end up being a very interesting category.
As for the chapters, I'll leave that up to you. I always like full-game runs, but with Knytt Underground the first two chapters are kind of redundant. Depends what you want to run!
Unfortunately, I will not be going to ESA this year. However, the good news is this shouldn't affect the schedule at all, since Dragonfangs and Eagle will still race. It'll be much easier for tech this way!
Nope, you pretty much hit the nail on the head. If there was sufficient interest we could have an easy mode leaderboard, but the run is almost identical to normal, so there has never really been any interest in the last 13 years.
