New Categories for Difficulty

I recently submitted my Hardcore run, and although I like hanging out on the same page as everyone else, I think there should be different categories for different difficulties. I'll leave it to the wisdom of the moderators. -Anthopants

As of right now, the way I see it is that there's not enough runners of other difficulties to justify having categories for them. The same goes for Chronoscepter based speedruns.

Cool, I'll hang with the rest of the community. Hopefully I'll inspire others to run on Hardcore. Thanks for the speedy response :)

I dontt want to sound like a dissenter, but I think having even just a single run done on Hardcore is enough to give it it's own category. It's a different run and should be recognized as such. Same for the chronoscepter ones. Just my humble opinion.

Like, how is someone causually looking at the leaderboard supposed to know that anthopants' run is done on Hardcore, and that's why it's a longer time, as opposed to someone just assuming that it's a slow time for some looming negative reason.

I plan on improving my run, maybe after that I'll re-ask to be placed in the Hardcore category. A lot of games have the different difficulties available, even if they're no runs in them. I think more as a way to entice people. Not everyone wants to run a game on its top difficulty, or its any% (even if the community most values those respective runs). I can understand not allowing something abstract (like a bow only run) or having trouble categorizing a Chronoscepter or 100%, but Hardcore is part of the game. Like I said, I'll hang with the rest of the community if that's what they decide but I don't feel that I belong in the same list. I doubt anyone else does either.

I'm also for having a separate category for Hardcore, since as Anthopants said, it isn't a meme category. I think expanding the number of categories would be good, since it would allow people to try something other than constantly grind any% runs on Easy. I'm more than willing to do a Hardcore run, if not enough runners is the main justification for not adding it.

Tolarus, that would be very cool. I won't hold you to that, since I think you need to have a passion for a game to run it and maybe this game won't speak to you, but it would be awesome to see how someone else tackles Hardcore.

If you guys don't wanna make a seperate category for hardcore, you should add a variable for the difficulty, so it says what difficulty the run was on next to the time. You can also filter the runs after difficulty then.

If you do wanna split them up, make them into subcategories.

Seeing as the interest in the category definitely grew (especially for me) I'm also for this category to be made. It alters the gameplay very much and forces much more change on the player compared to a chronoscepter run (though I still think that that should be a category too.)

Problem is the mods here are kind of inactive.

GrowthKasei, it sounds to me like you're running Hardcore. If so, how's it going for you? Let me know if I can help.

Yes, I run Hardcore. I made a little 'route' for it a couple of days ago.

My PB is 40:46, ran on version 1.1.

That's a very fast run, congratz on that. I'm excited to hear you're running on Hardcore. Are you going to submit it?

Yes, as soon as the Hardcore category is added; I don't see why it wouldn't be at this point. Just gotta get in touch with moderators.

I msg ZanderGoth on twitch, but haven't gotten a response. Maybe you'll have better luck getting in touch with a moderator.
