This might sound stupid but is there a way to revert to the legacy patch on the switch? or am I just stuck with the current patch.
You may have found an answer somewhere - but the answer is a mostly no. If you have a cart that has an earlier version, you can factory reset the switch and use the cart without updating, or you'd have to mod the switch - which is heavily unadvised.
The legacy patch runners are isolated from the current patch runners I must say.
