I added a distinction between Any% and Vanilla/ Glitchless because they run with very different strategies and even the optimal character changes.
But there are too few players to just split the category... which has been scaring me away from touching anything for a while now.
It was my personal thought that both Styles deserve exposure and distinction, because they are charming and they entertain in unique ways.
I'm not entirely sure of whether I am in the right to do such a thing, so it might be temporary. If you have a strong opinion on the topic (which I can understand from the WR Holder, for instance) leave some feedback.
I'm not creating new "News" because I'm scared of officially adding Emulator to Adventure Tours hahahahahha so now everybody knows it's allowed but I won't split it until there hasn't been a submitted Emu run
Honestly, I can get behind this.
Even normally, Downhill is an event that goes by very quickly compared to most in the game, clocking in at a little over 20 seconds on average. Getting good at it requires quick thinking and knowing when to use mushrooms.
But when glitches are introduced, which aren't even too consistent to begin with, the intensity is dialed up to 11, needing lightning fast reaction times which if missed could end a run. And if an input is missed, you have little to no time to react and perform a backup strat to save yourself.
Obviously, newer players may be discouraged to go for the record if they don't feel confident in going for brick skips, which with how optimised the record is now, are pretty much mandatory if you want a shot at it.
Thanks!
Either way I don't think many runners are interested in grinding hard for either of the Play Styles XD (sadly!)
I hope it promotes more submissions, but I introduced it mainly as a 1. enhancement for the viewers (who mostly won't care to filter by obsolete), or 2. gameplay-wise, an enhancement for the top runners.
(Rule me out though, I have to go to rehab for "capsulitis" on my thumb. 3 months ago it was thumb tendiditis... I'm not going to make excuses though, Brick Skips are daunting to me)
It's odd, currently Vancouver DS is the most active game and almost the most followed of the M&S games! Only behind LondonWii and closing the gap. So this is the theorical peak of visibility.
Maybe M&S Paris 2024 will increase traffick. But Van10 DS is as healthy as it can be atm.
hey guys, Remy and I have been talking and we want to add a few Verifier moderators. Because activity is still reasonable for us to handle, but a tournament is coming soon. Verifier moderators essentially verify runs and don't generally have any more abilities. So just read the rules and watch runs.
