man i wish i could ignore just a single level when following a game on speedrun.com because it would be great to not be told "someone 'beat' the WR in this super easy star to get a 'wr' on" every time someone gets the star
24 hour hack 2 categories, 20 star (any%) and 25 star (100%)
my 25 star PB: sonicgordon6's 25 star PB: (NOTE: this is the full stream in which he got his PB. This shouldn't be added to the leaderboards because the video will get deleted in 14 days, but it is still proof that he's done a run. IMO, either someone should download the stream or he should highlight and submit it, and then it will be added to the leaderboard)
EDIT: aussieadam is also running this category (same full stream problem as the last thing)
Super Mario Fantasy 64 There are 3/4 categories (clarification in a bit), 0 star, (12 star), 100 star, and 182 star
I'm on the fence as to whether an "easier any%" category should or shouldn't apply to this hack, mainly because in order to get past a vanish wall in bowser 3, you need to do 7 firsties, and I'm just unsure of whether that should be considered difficult enough to add an extra category.
Either way, if 12 star were to be added, it would be pretty different from 0 star, as you first chuckya clip through the 50 star door to get to bowser 2, then go to bowser 1 and open the 12 star door, and once you beat both bowsers, you can go to the vanish cap level, getting the vanish cap and bypassing the need to skip the door.
Here's the two runs required (i dont know whether 0 star counts as fullgame but i think it does???): My run: StarrlightSims' run:
i've also done 100 star runs but i cba to find and upload my current pb, as it isnt that good anyway
i already asked you in dms but im asking you again what my points are just to annoy you :D
That's one problem with 1.6, and there's no real way to fix it outside of using a 4:3 monitor. Generally, I just run project64 in windowed mode, not in fullscreen.
In the future though, if you have a game specific question like this, you should ask it in the specific game's forums, not the general forums.
Most games allow it, some only allow it for times below a certain point. Check in with the specific game's forums if its allowed. Some games dont even require a phone cam if your time is below a certain amount and instead is fine with no game footage.
Edit: about the specific consoles, I'm pretty sure every single 3ds game or 99.9% of 3ds games allow phone cam as 3ds capture devices are notorious for being difficult to get, as with the switch, wii, and wii u, i think 90% of games allow it but there might be some that dont allow it if your time is too good. Check with whatever game you are planning on speedrunning.
faster strat in BNW pillars star (131 star / 82 star?) | ()
Video as promised (I completely forgot about the video until now)
one last reply I promise: It's faster than I thought because you can reset right when you get the green switch which I didn't account for. EDIT: I decided to time it and it makes this route 5 seconds faster than it was for a total of 11 seconds faster (it takes 10 seconds for you to get out of the void but it takes 5 extra seconds to reset instead of save exiting out of course 12 as done in previous routes.)
Actually, I'm pretty sure this is faster. Getting overworld 2 reds is around 4 seconds faster if you get them from b2 instead of from frozen caverns. Because of this, it seems as this route is around 6 seconds faster https://gyazo.com/f414c4655bffade136646cf46c97e716
Wait, I forgot the 100 coin star in MSC required the triple jump. I'm going to check if I can 1: Get it without triple jump 2: Get other stars in place of it.
EDIT: I found a way to consistently get the 100 coin star without the triple jump. I'll post a video in here later.
I've thought of this route idea but I thought it had been timed before. Basically, instead of grabbing both wall badge and triple badge in the beginning, you only grab wall badge at the start and you grab the triple badge once you revisit overworld 2. The main timesave from this comes from the 64 extra seconds it takes to grab the chuckya and bring it up to the top. However, the lack of a triple jump causes timeloss in overworld 3, and you need to go to overworld 3 before revisiting overworld 2 as you need the ultra badge and the green switch to complete overworld 2. I thought that these timelosses were too much and that grabbing the chuckya would be faster. However, with making no mistakes on either side, not doing the chuckya clip is a whopping 3 seconds faster (https://gyazo.com/3551133ce32941205b9c291ca0e3205a). However, I feel that this new route could be slower, as the 3 seconds could've been minor mistakes, and also I didn't consider the decimal position, as when I started this, I thought the answer would be much more clear.
Here's why I will run with the new route over the old route, though: 1: The old route is only faster if you get the triple jump for the star "Fake" in FC first try, which is inconsistent 2: If you mess up the chuckya clip somehow, either with getting light chuckya or dying after the clip, you lose over a minute and your run is dead.
I posted splits for this new route in the resources section on speedrun.com
The only solution I know of not involving discord is by getting the other players to stream their game to twitch (or anything else) and then capture their screens using Streamlink with VLC to directly get the stream feed without having to deal with the browser.
