Switch Question

Hello, I'm pretty new to running, so I was wondering about video quality standards. For now, I will be doing runs primarily on Switch but have no way of recording runs over the built-in 30 seconds clip system, so if i was to do slightly longer runs, would i be able to record the screen with my phone or something as long as the melt screen and results screen are shown clearly enough? Also I usually play without sound or pretty low volume, so is game audio required? I would prefer to not have the sound of me breathing over the video lol, thanks

I do the exact same thing. If you can see the screen well in recordings and you can read text you’re golden. For the audio, I’d say if you can hear the music at like half volume on your phone it’s good. If you’re worried about your breathing being heard, louder audio from your game could cover it up. Or just breathe quietly like me. As a little extra tip, record somewhere dark if you don’t want your face reflected on the screen and in the video. GL

You are allowed to use your phone, as long as the screen in it's entirety is visible. As far as audio for full game, all top 5 full game runs REQUIRE it, all other's don't. For IL's audio is not required (at least it shouldn't be, it's not on Unity, should be the same here)

Correcting something @MissRaven said:

Yes, there are audio requirements for ILs on Kex. If the IL you're submitting claims to be world record, then it is expected to have audio. For Solo Full Game runs, yes, top 5 runs are expected to have audio. For Co-Op Full Game runs, top 3 runs are expected to have audio (only applies to the host). See ruleset for more info.

Why do you have audio requirements for IL's? Lol so many other ways of verifying, kinda laughable considering it wasn't required on Unity. Y'all just adding on way too many verification rules now.

Audio requirements were something that we deliberated when creating the boards. Unity's moderation hasn't been (still isn't) perfect, and IL audio on this board was something we decided should have a tad more regulation than in Unity.

Besides, high quality runs should be preserved in... well, high quality. I maintain that the best of runs (both Full Game and IL) should definitely have game audio as an additional form of authentication, as well as a credit to the preservation of the run.

Yeah I disagree. It's not your call how someone wants to preserve their runs. Having it as an additional form of authentication doesn't even make sense considering you have 1000 different other ways to verify it's "authenticity"

I just realized I was completely wrong regarding the audio rules. Audio requirements are indeed only for top 5 full game runs, as @MissRaven originally said. I got completely confused with another issue and have since been corrected. I sincerely apologize for any confusion.

So to answer the original question from @Puke: Audio is only required for top 5 full game run submissions. Other than that, feel free to mute game audio.
