SR50 Is Now Possible on Kex!

Hey everyone!

Yesterday, an update for the Kex Port was released. Among the many patches and quality-of-life changes made, the update made SR50, a faster straferunning technique, possible on Kex!

To perform SR50 (StrafeRun-50), one must have a forward input and two strafe inputs for the same direction. This is done by holding “move forward”, “strafe left/right”, the “Strafe Modifier” button (unbounded by default), and “turn left/right”. Using the turn inputs while holding “Strafe Modifier” will register as strafe inputs, thus allowing players to have two strafe inputs at any given moment.

Note that a side effect of SR50 is that your look angle is locked in place while you use it, so optimal movement with SR50 will take some getting used to. Also note that players must bind the “Strafe Modifier” input themselves, since it is off by default. While runners are encouraged to test out different key binds to find one that is comfortable to them, I personally recommend the following setups:

For Controller players, binding “Strafe Modifier” the left bumper or trigger, while keeping turning and movement controls unchanged, is recommended.

For KBM players, binding Right Mouse Button to “strafe modifier”, E to “turn left”, and “Q” to turn right, is recommended. Note that Q and E are “inverted” as holding “AWE” or “QWD” is generally quite comfortable.
