Functionally, I like being able to follow users and see which runs have splits but I think it was a mistake to remove recent runs on game pages and no longer seeing last login date of users.
It would also be nice to have the option to return to followed games being an alphabetical list of text rather than a wall of game art as well as having co-op runs showing your co-runners on your profile, 24+ hour runs staying hh mm ss rather than adding days to the front, and absolute time not showing the time of day on your runs (last three of which shown here):
As with every update in the last few years though, I'm reminded how much I miss the actual leaderboards being more central to game pages than they are now. Speedruns used to be the first thing you saw when opening a board's page but now the first speedrun you'll see is over halfway down your screen tucked away in a non-prominent panel.
And it could be just personal preference but I also miss every run on a profile being one line with the primary detail of the run being its length rather than having the leaderboard placement shown first with the time listed below in a smaller font.
The all levels cheat doesn't do anything until you've beaten the game which requires a lot of eggs being acquired not in alphabetical order first.
It is in the original as well. However, the point of the category is to collect all percentage-altering collectibles (gems/eggs). It just so happens that the way the game rounds things, you do hit "117" but not actual full completion until you finish Sorceress 2 because of the bonus egg in Midnight Mountain. The name 117% is just used to imply full completion.
Not much reason to continue responding to a banned user lmfao
Yes, under the general site rules (https://www.speedrun.com/knowledgebase/site-rules), turbo controllers are banned by default unless specified by the rules of the game. Currently there are no rules in place to allow turbo controllers for this game.
Hope you're well too :)
I just recently made some changes to the board to fit the SRC standards and rules a bit better. One of them was moving the Sunday Tiger Woods run into 'individual levels' because its not accessible from the start of a fresh world tour, thus making all current submissions not 'full game runs' but rather a part of full game runs, if that makes sense.
It's still considered part of the world tour, and full world tour runs still include it but that specific section is just a level within the full game run. I also considered whether regions should stay on the full game board or be moved to levels but since the start point is a new game and there is a defined end point, I suppose it's fine how it is.
Let me know if you think it should be moved or other changes should take place.
I didn't say Tower was wasting anyone's time or referring to what they were asking as "common sense". If anything, they're wasting their own time by asking for rules to be clarified before reading them. And common sense refers to me saying "we don't need everything in the rules". For example, uhhh your spyro speedrun cannot be a video of someone else's crash run, that sort of thing. If we all considered this a waste of time, we wouldn't put effort into responding, especially with links to series and site-wide rules.
The rules really don't need to cover everything. Common sense and general submission rules should be adhered to. See: https://www.speedrun.com/knowledgebase/site-rules if you are unfamiliar.
"That being said there are gamesharks for PlayStation that unlocks potential for faster cheat% runs". You mean, editing your next zone to the credits? Literally start the game and then end time? What is the point in speedrunning when you can edit the memory however you want? If you want specific cheats, like HK is saying, we have that. For example, sparxless 120 uses a gameshark code.
Any% with no glitches isn't really done because that requires nearly every collectible in the game anyway. You can look at Hagg's 2:17 in hundo and just take out the like, 6 jiggies(?), that you dislike the most. https://www.speedrun.com/bkce/run/ywd8w8nz
Having to start and stop LiveSplit manually is how it is normally meant to function. Since 95% of runners are on console, that's how we do it since we have zero access to the game's memory (unless someone has a personalized autosplitter that splits on a specific frame of the gameplay capture). LiveSplit isn't inherently an "autosplitter".
If you're referring to the autosplitter script available in the resources, the setup for that is pretty straightforward. In LiveSplit, edit your layout, add a source, Control -> Scriptable Autosplitter. Set the path to wherever you have the ASL file from the resources downloaded. When you play the game on one of the three emulators stated in the ASL file, it will automatically read the memory of the emulator and split for you.
If you have any further questions on LiveSplit, you should either join the Spyro speedrunning discord ( https://discord.gg/GDYcVjg ) for real time answers or use one of the many FAQs and forums more specific to LiveSplit issues on places such as Reddit or elsewhere on this site. Most people don't read these forums and they're usually more specific to Spyro discussion.
There are plenty of options for the presently allowed emulators. If you want a new one to be added, give us a report on its accuracy.
@Tortellino x4 runs faster than FDS, at least in testing Spyro 1. Mednafen is an allowed emulator. I don't see why you can't submit a run on that if you already like using the mednafen core in RA
@CDRomatron its based on the 301, 642, and 602 rules. 602 allows SM3DAS so 1545 allows it too. Same with xbox/wii u releases for Rareware and PS3 releases for Sprash
No, they're entirely different games with completely new physics and speed tech. They have no part in this run.
