generally people are more active in the discord. generally your idea is useful, but the extra time to setup 5 army xp, and needing artillery instead of guns to have the base equiptment makes it harder to setup.
Because HOI4 was mentioned, Main timing method is RTA with limiting game speed (speed 5 is as fast as the processor can handle) and Speed 4 still has some of those problems. IGT is a great subcategory for games, but it also has its problems with being somewhat easy to tie.

We had this. You could mark every subcategory as miscellaneous. This would always move them into a dropdown Menu. While the rest was aviable as Buttons.
Is it so hard to keep feature parity with a redesign?
One thing down, still stuff to do to get back to the point were you could "perfectly tailor it to your community's preferences!" like before the whole redesign stuff.
Second this is the general Forum ask on the MC Forum or the Discord
Back before redesigns started we had the Misc option this would put subcategories into a Folder. You could choose every individual Subcategory of a Category if you want to display it as a button, or dropdown. If you had many buttons the buttons would form a second line to have enough space.
Then we got it automated, we had a character limit for the first few categories, then the rest would go into dropdown.
Now we the update we can choose between dropdown and display all (which is useless because it forms a great long line until it cant be seen anymore if you need to force it) and automatic, which basically chooses dropdown once the line is to full. There is no point in choosing buttons,
Why have that fucking button? to say you have it? We had a system which maxximised customization. https://vxtwitter.com/speedruncom/status/1691117488342286336?s=20
Nothing of this fixed the Problem that if you have many subcategories which you could hide selectivly via misc. in the old system get forced into a drawer system.
Is it to much to ask for the old functionality Back?
@YUMmy_Bacon5 its about switching up minor things which were unnecesairly changed from a working system. it should have been done months ago. if they want to fix it a year later with a proper update, why make a bad inbetween update at all?
I know the update was a while ago, but multiple things about leaderboards are still broken which doesnt give us all old functions we had with the old layout.
Its mostly about unnecesairy collapsing. -Subcategories collapse if there are more than three (this is entirely unneccesairy because you can get a dropdown with the (misc) system
- Variables get collapsed if there is to many of them, even if there would be space
- Maincategories become a bad scrollbar when there are to many.
Communities were able to control all of those before, so why is the option gone to have control about the layout how your leaderboard looks from moderators?
@ShikenNuggets i hope we get somewhat of the old layout features back or i have to nuke some boards and fully redesign them. i was promised months ago it will get fixed, honestly in my opinion the leaderboard itself could just be rolled back, nobody likes the scrolling, nobody likes forced folders on subcategories. I want my games to look good and clean.
honestly i filled it, but for real. you could get a work group out of active forum and discord members and they would compile a list with priorities etc.
boosting a game is to random apperently followers and runners are used. it should just be recent runners.
add paypal and other services as an option to pay. also there should be a option to buy a single month/year without a subscribtion.
As an example in germany creditcards are often not used (only around a third of people have one), we first have a girocard which skips the process of making debt and just gives direct access to your bank account and it doesnt allow for online stuff and has to be directly physically used. this is often supplemented with online banking and alternatives like paypal.
how is a bad idea? a monthly subscribtion is much money. you could rent a server and domain for that. making a small board with half a dozen active runners addfree for a small amount of boosts isnt a big problem. and making a bigger board with more boosts addfree is also possible.
this should either be something you pay once or if you boost a board it should remove ads completly on that board (maybe depending on the size of the game)
Honestly depends on how you look on the game, yes resetting is a strategic descission in speedgames where you need luck etc. But YuGiOh is build around to basically not depend on to much luck. Banning Resetts gives incentives to build a consistent deck which is a great part of actual yugioh. Its basically the descission to value short term evaluation of a hand or good deckbuilding, deck expertise and playing in a well thought out order its also the descission how to work with a (in modern yugioh terms) brick. So short term descission making vs routing and deck expertise. In the end you still have the option to just give up after some rounds.
Also generally building a run around resetts makes it long term way more frustrating if those resetts arent for actual RNG manipulation but just a brute force reroll.
EDIT: Also from a moderation perspective resettheavy runs need more control and proof, because they are prone to splicing.
EDIT2: I dont know how i forgot this back then, but fair timing Emulator vs Hardware is extremely hard to do if there are resetts, because emulators are faster and adding a penalty will either give an advantage to hardware or dont do enough)
