3 1/2 hours is what I'm aiming for, but if I'm under 4 hours I'll be happy. So much can go wrong during a run like this, anyone who's iffy at some characters can maybe estimate 5 hours.

Alright boys, you heard the judge. Time to get a big Any% All Characters race going.
I'll post details in a new forum post dedicated to the race whenever Sakurion and I figure them out. It'll probably be sometime in the morning for US and afternoon for Europe, so that everyone has a chance to finish. Potentially next weekend.
Yeah forgot to mention that. Character order doesn't matter, as long as all characters activate the terminal after Providence.
While doing my shitty 100% run last night, Sakurion posed me the idea of racing Risk of Rain soon. When deciding the category, he thought up Any% All Characters. Could this possibly get added as a category? It would be a long run but atleast it would be shorter than 100% Both me and him are racing it soon, so the category wouldn't be empty.
Rules would be similar to the regular Any% category: Fastest completion on all characters, Rainstorm difficulty, any patch that has every character. Timing in RTA. You can Exit to Main Menu after defeating Providence and activating the terminal. Timing ends when you activate the terminal on the final character.
Sidenote: Hopefully we can get others in this race. If there's enough interest I'll post the date and time we're gonna race it so others can participate with us. Just know that it could potentially take several hours.

I think it could be useful if it's possible to use the teleporter while it's counting down, that way we move onto the next level that much quicker. The reason it might be possible is because after I die, it counts the enemies as if I was ready to teleport.
The way I think I did it was dying on the frame I selected an item. I'll look into reproducing it tomorrow and see what kind of benefits it may or may not have.
Edit: Trying to explain better If for some reason this works and we can use the teleporter before it counts down, the any% run could end up being less than 9 minutes, and the monsoon any% would pretty much be equivalent since it skips the longer teleporter. 1 minute per level, assuming we teleport early 5 level = 5 minutes 3-4 minutes for final level + Providence (based on igt% wr) = 8-9 minutes total
Double edit electric boogaloo: Just tested it, and it doesn't work as expected. I didn't fully test it, like using the Imp statue in the video, but if anyone cares to look into it further here's how you do it: Get a command chest, activate it but don't pick an item. Wait until something is about to attack you for all of your health. When it "kills" you, pick any item in the command chest. You have a few frames to do this. The game will consider you dead, but you are invisible and can still run around and shoot and kill things. Maybe the Imp statue will do something important? Who knows. I don't have time to test further tonight.
I'd like to preface this with "I have no idea how this happened and if it will work," and also "this may be a known glitch already."
With that out of the way, something strange happened while doing attempts today. While collecting items, I died. Not so strange, right? But when I died, the bandit turned invisible and I was able to control him normally, but couldn't interact with items. I tried to make it to the teleporter to see what would happen, but it took too long and the teleporter already counted down. I was still able to activate the teleporter like normal and continued onto the next level with none of my items. It seems to be very similar to activating the teleporter and then dying.

If this is a known glitch, let me know. If not, I'll try to explain why I think this could allow us to use the teleporter early.
To add onto what Onin said, it's possible to still be able to jump when getting onto ledges that have the same height as your jump height. It's rare, and if I had to guess it's frame perfect. Example:
So far I've only found it to be useful in that spot, and grabbing onto the invisible ladder in Dried Lake.
I get it most of the time when I have to jump up exactly 2 blocks, like this spot:
I usually fix it by falling down or grabbing onto a ladder/rope.

Just checked both my versions of RoR (steam and speedrun), neither save_backup.ini anymore. Might have been removed when Steam Cloud got added. Maybe there's a temp file or something outside of where I have it installed, but I haven't had any luck finding it yet.
Edit: Just re-watched the vod and it was indeed on my first death. Also just tried replicating it and so far haven't been able to. Seems to just be a lucky glitch.
I was testing/running 100% earlier and after I died once, I noticed I somehow unlocked Dio's Best Friend, even though you need to die 50 times. Is this some kind of glitch in verson 1.2.2? Or do you need to remove another file other than Save.ini when starting 100%?

If it always removes all your items, it seems like it would only be an ingame timer strat like you said. If there was a way to keep your items, it could possibly help in RTA. I'm not entirely sure but I would think Providence and the Gilded Wurms would have less health making the last level a bit faster.
