Adding onto my last point, if we were to accurately assess if pausing such as a low battery pause or an unintentional pause helps, we'd have to have a system where the game randomly pauses every few minutes to see if it did help or not. Though knowing that the game would pause every few minutes would already create an expectation for you to know the game might pause at any moment.

Here are reasons that it might benefit your run: -Time to think of a way out -Assess where cars are and assess if trains are about to go off or not -Stress can fall knowing you don't have to perform for 3 seconds

Here are reasons that it might ruin your run: -Having to reassess the speed of the cars when the game unpauses -Unintentional pause ruins mindset and flow. Instead of being focused on the run, you are now focused on the pause. -Stress can rise due to points above

I think it's fair to say that pausing the game, especially unintentionally, will not benefit you. I believe most if not all mobile runners can attest to the fact that unintentional pausing is a nuisance more than it is a wish.

I'd argue it's harder when you are forced to pause. An unknowing pause ruins the tempo of your run as well as your mindset towards the run. I'd argue it's similar to how some of the modes will have random effects like Michael Boom who will randomly blow things up and shake the screen.

You can't change from NG+ to NG in the game, you have to do it through the files.

Go to resources and imawakka's "external save file resetter" will make it so you can restart the game easily. Download it, find your save file (Steam>steamapps>common>DeadCore>long slew of numbers) and put it in the directory, then you can use the resetter.

If you don't want to use the resource, just go to the same directory, and delete story.save before every time you start the game.

You have to record your entire run whether it be highscore or speedrun. We won't accept images nor will we accept videos that do not show you starting from the beginning of your run to the end of your run.

Timer ends when you get the number of apples in the category you are running, so you're good. Just submit your run!

On https://www.speedrun.com/games Crossy Road does not show up unless you check "Show unofficial releases." On https://www.speedrun.com/crossyroad It also has "webgame, mobile" which are text and not clickable just like all other unofficial releases.

The game is official. https://www.crossyroad.com/ The creator, Hipster Whale, has the game on mobile devices (iOS, android, windows) as well as on the PC (windows appstore). It is also a "webgame" because Hipster Whale published it at poki.com.

I'm unsure why a mobile game or web game is considered unofficial. There are plenty of mobile games that are official games ( https://www.speedrun.com/games#platform=iOS&orderby=mostactive&unofficial=off ) and rightly so, because they are official. There are also plenty of web games that are official games ( https://www.speedrun.com/games#platform=Web&orderby=mostactive&unofficial=off ) and rightly so, because they are official.

So what constitutes Crossy Road as unofficial?

Reason I am putting it as a thread is because the times are unreadable (times that are given are what was submitted before when the runs were on a different video platform and were readable). Since they are unreadable, they are invalid.

This is very interesting, but a problem that might occur is it isn't a verified mod on Mineplex so anyone could get banned for the use of this. Also, it would be considered cheating to add blocks before the timer since it allows for an advantage against other players, even if it is by slightly a second or so.

Just so that we can work on it, would it be a good idea to go with icy's idea of making an old patch category (named legacy)? Such as putting all current categories into 1 category named as legacy. It would look something like this: Solo Co-op All Bosses All Bosses - Glitchless Any% 100% 100% Glitchless Simple Low% 200% 200% Glitchless Simple Regular Expert

The only problem, which is moderately big, is that 200%, Low%, Simple wouldn't work in this. 200% only allows expert, Simple only allows... simple and Low% only allows regular and expert. Which can be avoided by putting that only certain difficulties are allowed for the categories, but there are going to be cases where people don't read the rules. It also makes the categories look sloppy. With that set up there are 35 different categories that are made from this (2 (solo/coop)*9(categories)*3(difficulties) - the amount left out because they won't be allowed). Then if we keep doing this we could make it certain versions (v1.0, v1.1, v1.2) which would create hundreds of subcategories.

As for the current patch it could be labeled as current patch as a category and have the above pattern, or it would just have all the categories spread out.

I'd be interested seeing the opinion on this and would it work? If people think it will work or it is better than the current design I can try and bring it up to other moderators and see if this would work better than what we have currently.

Just going to add in on this. Speedruns aren't supposed to be defined by their difficulty or what is taken out of the game. The points above about GDQ, audio, and video are light weight problems that shouldn't take a matter in whether we create a new category or not. GDQ, we have a lot of different categories, it doesn't have to be limited to a category with the menu glitch if we were to go into GDQ and this isn't even about speedrunning events anyways. Audio shouldn't even matter, but it does because of the viewer. As speedrunning can be entertaining to the viewer, the first priority is speedrunning to get a better time, as Jason2890 says above, we basically already cut out a lot of the audio. Video, as it is annoying to see the menu in the middle of the screen, the speedrun isn't concerned by what appears on screen. I personally disagree in making another category with no menu glitch. At this point it just looks like any new somewhat major glitch that is found will result in another category made.

We aren't going to add a simple difficulty to low% because the game wouldn't be beatable. Sure, you'd be able to get to king dice, Low% is about the player beating the game with the lowest percent possible, being stopped at King Dice isn't finishing the game.

Just on my perspective, having weapon swap as your analog stick seems fishy. Could you show a video of you doing the trick with the analog stick in the camera to see exactly how it functions?

I agree with your first paragraph, second not so much.

Firstly, the rules are purposely made to be loosely connected. For example, lets plays vs speedruns. In a lets play you aren't going to see someone switch their gun back and forth rapidly, which is exactly what the rules for no wsg are supposed to entail. Secondly, you make your second point about speedrunning is 'this and not that' very hypocritical. You are correct that speedrunning is supposed to be beating the game as fast as possible under a certain category, but the "It isn't REALLY how I thought the game was supposed to be played" breaks that whole argument. This is exactly why we create categories, it is a different way to beat the game. Lastly, it is speed tech, but we don't mistake it for a glitch. Other moderators and I know that it is an abused mechanic, what produces its divergence is the outcome of WSG. There is over a 9 minute divide linking the All Bosses Normal and the All Bosses Normal Glitchless and stating that above 80 percent of that isn't caused by WSG would simply be false. WSG also causes phase skips and boss freezes.

I would disagree with you. Without evidence, your run isn't an official run, it is just a claim. Just my thought on it.
