If in game timer is inconsistent, then adding it as optional doesn't solve our issue.
I am still recommending use of timing software like LiveSplit or Xsplit. Timers added in post production will be validated aswell but in some cases can be re-adjusted with disadvantage.
Lack of such external timing software during full game run will result in it being invalidated.
For now there is only one issue with timing certain events in Crashday: There is no timer!
Because of that I have thought of a solution that is open to debate and could require some alteration because of in game timer inconsistency noticed by TigerShark.
- Because the game allows us to start the countdown on demand, by pressing any button, close to perfect timing can be achieved by using tools like LiveSplit. 1.1. If you set the start timing button in LiveSplit to something that also activates events in game (start countdown etc.), then the program can do all the timing for you.
- Some events allow us to use built in timer which is going to be a concrete base for all submissions that don't use timeskip (which fast forwards it) 2.1. For other events an external timer should be included on screen that begins counting from the moments you start the countdown. Not from the moment you gain control of the vehicle. That is to assure consistency between submissions. It is better to start timing on keypress rather than manually seeking a frame on which the car moves. 2.2. All events that require an external timer are going to have 4 seconds deducted from final time to better fit with events that are timed with the games clock.
If there are no objections to the above I will retime manually every currently verified submission.
Awesome. In this case, I am rejecting your professionals2 submission TigerShark and await your new runs.
I would like to sustain leaderboards integrity and leave amateurs1, finals2 and finals6 as they are, with timeskip allowed. Are there any more events that should have this bug unrestricted?
Hi guys. Reviewing a submission for professionals2 made me think. Alt+Tab (TimeSkip) is 100% luck based when it comes to how fast you pass the stage. It's great in full game run and there is no reason to remove it from there. But, Individual Levels are supposes to demonstrate actual skill of the player for others to admire and learn from. Just watching someones desktop is not very enterntaining nor productive.
What do you think about forbidding timeskip for stages like professionals2?
Edit1: Timeskip at Finals6 (SuperCombo) would still be allowed as it doesn't change much and allows for good practice for full game run.
@Camomile Your review of the game you want to moderate https://imgur.com/a/LNB4wi1 ...
@Camomile @Liv It's well known how easy it is to modify Crashday in very slight, unnoticable ways. Such way of things is very threatning to a fragile leaderboard with runs verifiable solely through videos.
Having someone with such deep knowledge as moderator could result in complete loss of interest in this game because of single runner domination.
+I have just filtered through messages on official Crashday discord, where I can see that many people are not very fond of your attitutde and doings. Because of that I will have to deny your request even though your first submission appears clean and unaltered. :/
@Camomile Your run is being reviewed. We have to check every run from a new person thoroughly. Please be patient.
For some reason I can't mod this user: https://www.speedrun.com/user/MrRacingmonster
To this game: https://www.speedrun.com/smash_cars_ps2
Sorry, what? No rules. Just finish the game. Win the last race in the chapionship.
-If you mean that you have to win all the events then yes. If you mean skipping stages, but still winning events is OK. -There is always a possibility that more skips exist. The game is quite long.
-I only remember that maxing out downforce on gymkhana events is usefull, but only for Individual Levels because menuing takes up too much time.
Same shit happened to me once on the intro race with razor. The BMW didn't stop and I could just drive over the finish line. I think it's 100% random.
Hello. I'd like to request assignment of super moderator role for: PojeBunny thebpg13
in: Colin McRae Rally Series
Reason: Community asked for addition of new games
Watching your video I've noticed that when you hit restart your car does some kind of "instant teleportation". That restart feels a little bit quicker than normal and is accompanied by a white flash.
My theories to test are these: -The moment you pressed restart, the game decided to reset your car (which happens with a delay and white flash). These combined resulted in restart and then reset on the starting line. -Random bug caused by something "virtually" obstructing the starting line.
Oh. The first two stages were already added, but I forgot that IL category is required to show anything :D Now you can submit.
Because extreme% is done on a already prepared save, then yes! You can do whatever you want to shorten the run. (Except for cheating ;) )
@kirkq Alright. We've sorted everything out in the CMR series moderation.
We need one more thing, removal of Larathen from Dirt Rally. He has left the servers, muted some of us or just doesn't respond. It has been like this for at least a few weeks now if not months.
That's the last thing we ask of you (not counting bringing back the Series Moderation) :)
The CMR community has agreed to this distribution of duties in the series: As we are unable to sort it out by hand, we are asking administration to give us a hand.
CMR: thebpg13, PojeBunny CMR 2.0: thebpg13 , Lucky (as normal moderator) CMR 3: PojeBunny CMR 04: PojeBunny, Kinnin11 (as normal moderator) CMR '05: thebpg13 Dirt 3: FireFox2000000 , mopsi (as normal moderator) CMR Mobile: SPY3R Dirt Rally: FireFox2000000 , PojeBunny
Series Moderation: benjacastellon , PojeBunny Also, if possible: benjacastellon as supermoderator for every game of the series.
Thank you once again for bringing life back to Colin McRae Rally Series. New events are being organised. People are interested in running new games of the series.
Benjacastellon has been a respected moderator of the series and we trusted each other with the series. When I started having issues with a newbie, potato, administration decided to tear everything that was estabilished to that date. With old, experienced members of the community we are attempting to bring back the life and order that has perished from these leaderboards.
I'd like to add to Vipers and Firefoxs posts, the request to add benjacastellon and me as Series Moderation.
