JP vs U vs PAL differences are more or less the same throughout every console choice, jp is slightly faster due to text, text speed and cart movement in some areas while PAL looses a lot due to running at a lower framerate.
The biggest differences between versions is lag and how demanding oak is with centered pics. There is more lag on the wii version, probably due to terrible optimization, but if I had to guess there's only about 5-10 seconds timeloss vs N64 if you're good at lag reduction. The Wii U version has no lag and saves roughly 40 seconds compared to N64. Centered pics does't seem like much but it does make N64 much easier, and there's also a strat we use in River 1 that won't work on wii or wii u due to this difference.
Ottawa isn't too far from Toronto, has an international airport, doesn't have any roller coasters close by but does have a pretty kick ass water park (http://www.calypsopark.com/). If we want a different Canadian location to take advantage of the shit dollar, Ottawa would be a good 2nd pick.
The good Stream room was comfy as shit Proximity of stream and casual room was great Stream problems were few and far between, a big step up from last year No one was super drunk to the point of being obnoxious(other then during farcry 3) Farcry 3 was pretty based Location of hotel was pretty good in terms of food considering this was choice #3, I wouldn't be opposed to going back to the same hotel City choice was also good, If we (the marathon) were to come back to Canada, Toronto should be highly considered again (altough I wouldn't be opposed to Ottawa or Montreal) Chat wasn't as cancer as I would have imagined A good number of people were awake during graveyar hours, avoiding the stream room to be empty most of the time Mafia was a good time Canada's Wonderland was good for 2 reasons:
- It's fucking wonderland
- Frosh week effect, met people early in the week that I probably wouldn't have met otherwise Did not hear "Hype" a single time duting the event Everyone was hella chill Free breakfast and parking Event, in general, owned Probably other stuff that I forgot
The bad/improvable stream room was, on occasion, hot as shit casual room layout could have been worked on, most of the TVs were spread across 2 tables and there was a lot of empty room near the sink Also seemed to have a lack of power bard Seconding what's been said about having a projector or something for a few runs so everyone can see Setup for races really needs to be worked on Headcrab Sens lost to Pittsburgh
There's no easy way to say it but I read both of your guys' submissions and honestly I can't blame milk & co. for dropping the runs.
@SheppardKiller your submission seems... incomplete, especially for a game that's not really known. For example "I think this would be a very interesting game to speedrun" how? Is it a fast paced platformer, puzzle game, FPS, what makes that run something that would interest viewers in watching, like cool strats or glitches. Check Hardrocker's Chroma Squad submission, havrd's Valley submission or Gyoo's Splasher submission for solid exampled.
@DarQ_Massacres there's a few key words you want to avoid in submissions, such as "I don't have a very good time" and "honestly I don't know, this is a meme game". Think of submissions like an interview: you're trying to highlight why your run is a good fit over anyone else's runs for the marathon. Other than lying, you need to say whatever you can to make your game as appealing as possible, and leave out anything that could be seen as bad ("this game has long cutscenes" or "run killing RNG" or the likes) especially for lesser known games.
"You think your opinion is more important than an other person because you are so important and so famous[...]" It's not, everything I've said echoes the ruleset put in place by the mods
"[...]and it's my responsibility to prove that my opinion is logical because you don't know who i am[...]" Yes, it is.
"[...]it's a joke?" no, it's not.
"In the rule it's written that you need to be septical and bash someone when you don't have arguments?" Someone with no times on sr.c, no twitch, youtube or even twitter linked to their account and their only interaction on the site are through the forums? Tell me honestly why anybody in their right mind would take you seriously. Harsh as it is, I explained why that's an issue in this post http://www.speedrun.com/botw/thread/a2cc5/6#rloqp
It's not, everything I've said echoes the ruleset put in place by the mods. If you don't have the money for a capture card, you can always get a $30 webcam while you save up. With enough skill, webcam videos don't look too bad actually.
re: "[...]it's my responsibility to prove that my opinion is logical because you don't know who i am" Yes. It is.
You do need to understand that this is not an isolated event, every now and again in whatever community people who don't care about a game and are not part of the community push for rules that "are logical" to them. Easy examples are n64 vs vc in sm64, or igt vs rta in the prime trilogy. It happens often enough that the "high horse" position, as unfortunate as it is, is honestly the only viable way of getting things done. If you want your opinion to be heard, you need to prove that your opinion is worth listening to.
And why is equality so important to you that you would ban the way some people play the game? Also as of now, there's no way to accurately compare wii u vs switch until the tools are developed (which involves HACKING (omg!!!) and I know your opinion on that so I don't know why you're bringing it up anyways)
Yeah but the thing is you don't want to run the game, you just want to sit here and have your opinion heard and pretend like it's going to have some big everlasting effects on the community. This thread should have been locked a month ago when the mods decided to keep the ruleset as it is, because we'll just keep having people who don't particularly care about the game want to ban amiibo because their favorite streamer doesn't have any. There is already an easy way to distinguish between runs that do and do not use amiibo, clear as day for anyone to see, asking for an amiibo ban is just insulting to people who have put the time in with amiibo.
Also if you want to complain about P2W (if that's actually the thing you care about), you should put your energy towards the fact that the fastest console is a European Wii U, not a plastic figurine.
Think of NFC tags more as third party amiibo. It's like the hori pad for n64, not official but the end result is the same
@AKC me and Tolarus are still looking for roommates, lmk
Yes it is, however people hacked the game onto wii u to save more time. This is all a ploy from the shadow government.
