Honestly for emulator I'd say either go the route of Haunting Ground and make it a misc category where it's entirely emu v emu, or go the Silent Hill 1 route and have all emulator runs hidden by default(meaning they don't really count) Emulation on a PS2 is not accurate enough to compare. More importantly games like Haunting Ground have a reason for needing an emulator category considering it's both hard to find and expensive. Clock Tower 3 is probably the easiest in the entire series to find and is normally like $15 + a capture card being $20-$40. This entire bundle is less than Haunting Ground pricewise.
Ultimately though this is a decision that should likely come down to Speedwerd, TheMixedHerb, DrWobblebottoms, and potentially Carci if he is still active in this game.
How fast it truly is? Do room 810 with and without it and see which one is TRULY faster.
Sticky Keys saves time on every single elevator or waiting section. Not using it will 100% be slower in every scenario unless you manage to kill yourself by doing it which isn't too hard to avoid
I use a PS2 Controller thats analog stick is physically missing pieces.
Fits me like a glove and has given not too many issues. D-Pad was never good, it was required and thats arguably the best answer in regards to that. Some controllers will physically age though so a PS3 controller if you are used to it would be entirely better. It's pretty much Comfort is King
I posted the guide under guides. It would make people interested in the game more likely since it seems pretty detailed and now it should be more accessible
I may need to try this again when I get a NES. I have the game now but no NES
Are you playing on Emulator or Original Hardware?
If I remember right certain jumps are much harder on emulator and become near impossible. If this is the jump I think it is, one route for a safer run is to get the mage upgrade and use a longer jump to cross instead
I'm not the greatest at this game but do have a fundamental understanding of how it works. The current categories are also simple enough so unless there is anything major for this game it will mostly just be easier verifications since the current ruleset seems to do the game justice
So with the currents strats available would more be able to be skipped?
I heard in one of the vods you could technically get to the mushroom early but it wouldn't be loaded in at that point, it seems like the trick is doable in multiple locations?
I think Blockbuster or Circuit City may have a copy lying around but it's hard to say
So what's the best way to manage health/avoid the monsters for the speedrun?
I seemed to die to psychological damage a lot in the final level
You have contact with Zeno?
Hi,
Are emulator runs allowed on the leaderboards for Overblood? There doesn't seem to be any information on the topic at all.
Another note for jumping in general and I felt stupid after.
Alice gains height the longer you hold the button. This counts for every jump and makes a huge difference once you get the hang of the jumping. I imagine most runners knew this but for anyone reading this who may be new. You're welcome
Field of View should be 100% Brightness 100%
The game has absolutely terrible item detection/pick up and this will help you immensely.
In addition watch Juh0's Guide under the guide's tab and it will help with mostly everything
You still need to remember to swap over to the keyboard on the final jump but it makes it way more consistent.
Also while Turbo is usually not allowed plenty of games allow between swapping of controllers. If anything it seems like it would add more to the runs in general
So while I was running this Sasam pointed this out to me and it worked pretty much every time I didn't physically forget how many jumps I had.
When you do the glitch 4 jump on the third jump when you hold down Float and get ready to do the 4th jump if you use the space bar on the keyboard instead of controller to jump it will work pretty much every time.
For some reason it's considered to be within the frames?
Are the leaderboards for this game still active at all?
It seems the most recent anything was months ago
