I'm locking this thread as there was a verdict reached already and there's no point in putting more posts.
If you run an official copy of the game whether be a port, or a legitimate arcade rom, these settings are typically the ones that are fresh when you start, and does not involve messing with any dip switches or settings in the in game menus.
The default settings are
Lives: Start with 3, get one for 20k points, one for 70k points, then everyone after is 70k points
Difficulty: Hardest If I recall correctly some Namco Arcade Ports sometimes don't point this out as hardest, but an easy way to check this is, if after round 1, and every round after enemies fire at you as they come in for formation. So I'd suggest playing rounds 1-3 and paying attention to what it is, if not change it till you get to the correct one.
These settings are essentially the "fresh out of the box" rules for Galaga and these are the important ones that are checked for verifying runs.
You can, but I think it's more referring to setting the counter factor in the rom settings to 1, and reducing most if not ALL lag. The camera movement in DDD is a strat that helps with console, but you do need to look at the sub at one point, and the lag will kick in when that point occurs.
Try different 3rd party controllers? There are some that do wildly differ from standard controllers, maybe even get some kind of adapter to take a different controller to be compatible with gcn ports.
Otherwise, dunno what to tell you
Then I'd highly suggest looking into getting one, the game itself is cheap for Gamecube versions, and Gamecube controllers used aren't tooo bad of prices.
I would not suggest getting the 2-7 dollar unofficial gamecube controllers.
The speedruns on this leaderboard follow a set of rules.
-Video is required, and must show slightly before the run starts to see you started time correctly, and show when time ends. -Advantages such as turbo and savestates are banned -Standard arcade settings must be used, and if playing on things like Namco Museum ports, those settings must be default.
Your first attempt at submitting has 2 issues. https://www.speedrun.com/galaga/run/y23rn66m
Not using default arcade settings (notice the lives) Does not show right before the start of the run
Therefore, it was rejected You used this video for Challenge stages 2-8 and Extra Life 2 Categories.
8 Rejected runs so far
Your 2nd Attempt has 1 issue https://www.speedrun.com/galaga/run/y678k8qm
Does not show right before the start of the run
It was rejected You used this for challenge stages 3-7
Bringing our current total to 13 runs rejected so far
Your 3rd attempt https://www.speedrun.com/galaga/run/zgn1dv0y
This video works just fine
However, you used this for Challenge stages 1-8, when it doesnt complete 2-8
For challenge stage 1, it works, however for the rest, it does not meet the requirements which means reaching and beating said challenge stages.
Bringing our total to 20 Speedruns that were rejected.
I expressed what was incorrect with the videos through the rejected runs message.
The video requirements of showing right before your run starts, to where it ends and meeting the requirements are the basis for all speedruns that require a video to count as legitimate for any speedrun on any leaderboard.
Since video is required for this game to have a time on the leaderboards, regardless of how good or how bad the speedrun is, it will get rejected if it does not abide to the rules, no exceptions.
If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.
Hello, I moderate the Galaxian Series.
Recently this game was submitted to the website: https://www.speedrun.com/galaga_8890
It's a Galaga game which is a part of the Galaxian franchise, and so that it goes with the other games, can it please be added to the Galaxian series? https://www.speedrun.com/galaxian
Thanks in advance.
Potato cam works fine as long as you can tell what's being played. Av capture cards run anywhere from 7-40ish, so there's a wide range of options. Basics for recording: Capture card that's AV compatible Splitters to put it to your tv and to the capture card.
You could also do something like show your phone screen on your computer, point the phone camera at your game and just leave it there for a webcam recording.

Do you have a gamecube or wii?
20GB Fat Launch models to be specific
Yea, that would be allowed.
Can you be a bit more specific? I don't really understand your question in regards to the game saving each turn.
In what way? Timing ends on the VERY FIRST FRAME of you grabbing the star.
Timing ends on both circumstances yes, however it's easier to tell when time ends when someone doesn't star cancel, than when they do, and since it doesn't really matter, it's not hurting anyone taking it away.
Why are you asking exactly?
