Its not that he has more life, its that he takes less damage from all sources.
I dont personally ever drop a game. I frequently switch speedgames, with the hopes of returning eventually. I hope you do the same. Though I can understand with how monotonous the run is now that you're at the top.
Congrats on retaking the WR :P Thats something I wanted to go over, whether ot not IGT was just round times or just IGT without loads. Like, dooes the end screen, and the inbetween round animations count or not? Adding up round times would be easier though.
It might've. Hasn't since I started running though.
Its funny you say that. For the last few months I was only 7 seconds behind JerQ's time. Though I do believe my WR has some of the best RNG that if load times do differ enough it may be enough to remove them without a PC runner being competitive, but I dont want to work any more than I have to :P
If its needed ill make the change, or if enough people want it now.
Personally, The first loading screen is always the longest, and then every other one is fairly consistent within a couple seconds that its not really worth the hassle.
I think its kinda dumb that the game doesnt give you the IGT for the entire tower just 90%. Like, why stop half way? If the iGT after Goro is accurate, that could definately be an easier solution. It would make my job a hell of a lot easier.
So currently there are no competitive times done via PC. But I wanted to get this out of the way before that happens. Obviously load times will be faster on PC, and those times will vary by user. I wanted to know if different PC's had consistent loading times or not.
Obviously if someone were to seriously run the game from PC, there would be no fair way to compete with consoles, as console loading times are always gonna be the same.
While I would like for everyone to be on the same playing field that cant happen, so theres two solutions I think can happen.
-
If PC loading times are similar for most runners we could split PC into a different category, since should any runner on PC take the game seriously, then there is no way for console users to compete.
-
If PC loading times are inconsistent, and even splitting them into their own category would be unfair due to some PC's being superior because theyre objectively better, we could opt to manually remove loading times from all runs, so that these inconsistencies dont matter nearly as much.
We dont need to do this now, as so far PC players havnt really shown much interest in taking the game seriously. But it pays to be prepared.
I also dont know if small things like time to go from the Fatality screen to the outro animation transitions might differ across platforms, but stuff like that is hard to figure out.
Opinions?
Haha, thanks. That run suprised me, did it about an hour before travelling for a tourney :P
Unfortunately I lost the pad I use for Fighting games, so I wont be running the game anytime soon. Good chance to run other games. It would be interesting to compare the exact differences between each difficulty exactly. Like percentages of how often the A.I. breaks, blocks mixups, techs a throw etc. I was experimenting using Flame Fist before I got that WR, cuz you can do realy good damage really fast with little to no setup + it keeps them standing so wakeups and mistiming oki isnt really an issue. But Ive never used liu so I gave up pretty quick.
If the A.I. isnt consistently overpowered on harder difficulties, It could end up being a run with a bit more diversity, as we may all have to play the characters we are most familiar with, as split second decision making comes more naturally with a character you already have good muscle memory with.
Never considered the inbetween difficulties. Only really played Very easy, normal and Very hard. Like I said would be interesting to see what differences are between each one going from VE-E-N-H-VH. But that sounds like a lot more work than people might be willing to do.
Ill probs just ask Scaff when I start running again.
Sucks that its private. probs feels more special and personal but it limits exposure, people interested in the community cant just pop in and ask questions. I defs know some people who would rather talk on discord than on a forum.
I was legit just about to join as well.
Since im probably gonna try and run the game seriously.
Id be down for a discord.
I still want to do a test run before potentially adding more difficulties. And I dont want to add categories because 1 person wants to run it. Free world records arent the point of speedrunning. If theres no competition for a category, then theres no need for a leaderboard. So if people express intesrest ill add it. Im not gonna keep people from competing just because I dont think it will be an entertaining run.
My problem with harder difficulties is that it almost nullifies all competition. If someone gets god level RNG, then theres not much you can do to beat that unless you get lucky. I would say more RNG = less skill, not the other way around. More RNG = more luck. The higher dicciulties dont change what the A.I. can do, it just increases the chance that the A.I. will do more things more often. Even on the easiest difficulties the A.I. can wake up xray, or breaker, and something as simple as blocking a D2 means ur run is potentially over. I just dont see how a harder run could be remotely competitive. Fighting game runs require skill to stay consistent. But MKX in particular has no consistency, even on very easy. I wish there was some sort of A.I. manipulation that we could figure out, that would make the run way more skill involved, cause as is its just hope for the best to get a good run.
And I wasnt being literal with my throw tech example. Just something to say if the A.I. can tech something thats a straight guess alot of the time, then you're relying on RNG that things go in your favour. If they can tech a 50/50 throw, they're gonna block whatever you throw at them the majority of the time. And its no fun knowing you lost a run because someone elses A.I. didnt block a move when yours did.
Im not currently but Id like to come back. It would have to be later this year though.
I did my first run on 1.07 with no problems. I cant think of what you're doing wrong. I wouldn't think PS4 Pro would have anything to do with it, but Its not like most of us can test that.
Yeah? Thats interesting. Ive experimented with Cutthroat Kano, Unstoppable Jason and Ruthless Ferra/Torr. But theyre all way too slow. Need to beat the round in 7 seconds to be competitive, and they do it in like 9 seconds.
Mortal Kombat X specifically has way too much RNG and no where near enough A.I. Manipulation to be a contested speedgame. Unlike other older titles where its easy to be competitive. MKX rely's almost solely on RNG. So its good as a one-time run, or for fun. But when you're going for WR like I am, its literally just a grind until u get the perfect RNG. I cant say its particularly fun.
I reckon itll remain how it is. Ill keep going at it, and everynow and then we will have a new runner stop by, do 1 run then leave. Maybe they'll stick around, who knows.
