So I found out that you can use elevators to clip through walls (and maybe out of bounds??). It's fairly trivial to do. Here's how to do it:
- Stand on an elevator, and call it upwards.
- When it's moving upwards, walk to the edge of the elevator that is closest to a flat ceiling (this is important!)
- Stand still, and you clip straight through the wall! You can use any ability while clipped through a wall.
A video below shows this off:
FYI: you don't need to crouch. The game automatically did that because Emi became too close to a ceiling.
This has amazing potential to do some busted stuff, although I haven't found any bombshell use of this yet. I was thinking of using this to bypass the robot in the beginning so that you wouldn't have to FIFE yourself to bypass it, but unfortunately the developers placed a wall inside of the walls! 99% of the time though, the inner walls have no collision.
I've also tried to get out of bounds, but it as though seems each room has invisible inner walls towards the edge of the loading zones (edges of the screen), so I don't know if that is possible. I hope it is, because that would be cool.
So I was going around testing various things with FIFE, and I realized that you could stand on top of certain enemies. At the time, I thought it was useless, but I remembered a spot where this might be useful: the two moving platforms where there is a deactivated luminet platform and water beneath.
The idea is to use your Zorlon Shot to push the robot in the direction of the upper entry way, then jump on top of it, then continue upwards. But there's a problem: the robot doesn't get pushed back far enough in normal mode, making this impossible, and a Pro Mode exclusive glitch since enemies have more health.
Here's how to do this:
- Visit this specific room where you are supposed to use the drone (it's near Lobby West)
- Ride the platform and shoot the robot once, then ride it back and shoot it once again (make sure the robot is in full view, if it's out of view it limits how far it gets pushed back)
- Repeat the last step again (you need to shoot the Zorlon Shot exactly four times)
- Jump on the enemy's head (its hitbox is smaller than you think, it may take a few tries)
- Wall jump up to the loading zone
Here's a video below showing this off:
In this video I briefly show the back jump (infinite jump glitch) where you can theoretically wall jump an infinite amount of times, getting infinite height. This is extremely difficult, since it's near frame perfect, but it is theoretically possible. Here's how to do it:
- Be next to a wall and face towards it
- Jump and tap left (or right depending on which wall you are facing), and very quickly press jump. (If you slow down the footage you can actually see that Emi's wall animation lingers for a frame or two before she faces left. You need to hit that frame window)
Now you've back jumped! You can combine that with a normal jump, or chain it with more back jumps to get infinite height, although the more back jumps you do, the harder the timing will be. To make the back jump a bit easier, there is a sound cue of Emi's shoes slipping when you tap left/right on a nearby wall while airborne. When you start to hear this sound, press jump immediately. It definitely helped me get the feel of this better, but it is still difficult.
I think the back jump might be crucial to get to places that you otherwise wouldn't be able to, further pushing the boundaries of the speedrun (although atm i don't know where you would apply this technique)
So I just found a glitch that allows Emi to be invulnerable to all damage (lasers, enemies, hack mini-game damage, BOSSES, and even hitstun). The only thing that kills Emi in this state are death-pits/instant-death related actions (pistons).
By doing some pause menu shenanigans, you can make Emi invulnerable to nearly all damage. This is incredibly powerful since it can be performed pretty much anywhere, including the very start of the game (you can even sequence brake the game by bypassing the first robot you encounter lol), allowing you to pretty much just walk by or phase-through enemies. Enemies also don't detect your presence at all, except for the guards, but they don't damage you at all so it's not a problem. It's just kinda funny.
Here are the steps to perform it:
- Stand in front of an enemy/something that can damage you repeatedly
- Pause the game (System Menu, not going to the inventory)
- Click on "Options"
- Back out of Options
- Stay on the pause screen for a certain amount of time, (average 10-15 secs), basically wait until you "die" (the game is still technically live in this state)
- Resume play
Boom! Now you are invulnerable to pretty much all damage in the entire game.
Some things to note when you are in this state:
You can't pick up health or Trion ammo. So once you're out, you're out. You are technically dead, so it makes sense that you cannot pick up anything; but other than that, you can use every movement augment just fine.
There is a chance where you can get soft locked. If you go against Black Widow while this is active and you run out of Trion ammo, well... you're completely soft locked since you can't actually die.
Here's a video showing it off:
This might be too broken, and may need to be shoved into a different category entirely.
This is actually something I discovered a while ago but was too lazy to record it at the time (and totally forgot about it later), but I remembered it today and wanted to document it here.
By exploiting the Cloaking.exe biohack, you can become nearly invincible to all types of damage in hacking mini-games. You can move, or shoot, or even fire the cannon whilst being always invincible. The only things that can kill you are explosions, that's it.
(FYI, for multi-stage hacks, you must re-apply it for every stage. It doesn't persist across them)
It's really easy to perform, so here are the steps to do it:
- Use the Cloaking.exe biohack
- Enter a mini-game
- Stay idle for a brief moment in order to be invincible
- When you are invincible, abort the mini-game
- Remove the Cloaking.exe biohack
- Re-enter the mini-game
Boom! You're done! Now you're pretty much invincible to all damage! Hope it's helpful somewhere.
