Wilds Submissions are now OPEN!

Both Fullgame and IL leaderboards have been updated to include the new rules, restrictions, and verifications methods. All the rules have been compiled in the MHSR Monster Hunter Wilds Leaderboard Rulesets & Submission Guidelines document (click the link to view). This will be a one-stop document for the MHSR Wilds Leaderboards. As changes are made, they'll be updated here!

For now, here's a little summary on the leaderboards and categories!

Fullgame Categories! • Any% - New Game to Zoh Shia! • HR Arkveld - New Game to HR40 Arkveld (in testing)

IL Rulesets! • Freestyle - aka FS, unrestricted speedrunning • Restricted Rules - aka RR, our version of TAwiki rules, Hunter vs Monster while allowing new mechanics and tools! (Huge thank you to TalonLumini for drafting these!)

All the rules are included on the leaderboards too! Just click "Show Rules" to view all rules applicable to the category you're viewing!

Make sure to review all the rules before submitting runs! Thank you all again for your patience and understanding during this time! I'm looking forward to seeing what you all achieve in this game! You can ask any questions on this thread or in the MHSR Discord server (link at top of webpage).

We do have some items in progress as well! Please take a look!

  • IL Gauntlets - Series of ILs done in succession in a RTA-style completion

For full game support hunter rule what about the missions that automatically include Olivia?(Uth Duna, Ajarakan, Jihn Dahaad)

We had this conversation last night! Those quests you're allowed to have the support hunter. I'll be updating the rules for Fullgame to start "Calling Support Hunters is prohibited." We'll clarify that section of the rules.

Restricted Rules - No mention of Armor/Power Charms, based on statements, those are allowed?

Also, under the freestyle rules where it says "Use of Training Room Skill Activation Bug (example here) is prohibited," I assume the "example here" is supposed to be a hyperlink? Because, it is not.

Yes its supposed to be, I forgot to include it lol. I'll add it when I have the chance. But if you don't know what it is, then trust me you won't accidentally do it lol

I kinda figured, lol. Thought I should mention it anyway.

Question about runs. Currently as of me pressing send; there is no submission for investigation quests, i.e monsters we saved to fight for later (some of the hardest content) currently submissions are for high rank/low rank/ event quests but nothing for the monsters we have saved. Is there or will there be a submission area for said monster or are all speedrun submissions the in game quests?

Chicago, IL, USA

Given the random nature of Investigations, they will not be tracked on the leaderboard. Investigations ate too variable to moderate in any fashion that could be comparable between individual runners.

Right now, Optional and Event quests are listed on the leaderboard. Arena and Challenge quests will be added when released in TU1. To view the other quest lists, click the drop down menu that begins with "Event Quests."

Due to the nature of investigation quests being so random and unpredictable, we're not planning to have submissions for these quests. There are too many variables to make a clean leaderboard system for them. We'll be focusing on quests where the variables are the same, such as Optional and Event Quests.

MHSR Leaderboard Ruleset Change

  • The rule regarding Piping-Hot Meal has been updated to the following: Activation of the Food Skill Piping-Hot Meal is prohibited. The submission is valid if the Food Skill Piping-Hot Meal does not activate during the quest.

New changes are highlighted yellow in the text of the rules. Changes are captured in the Changelog at the bottom of the document.

Additionally, the IL Quest Names are being updated to include the name of the Target Monster for each quest to assist in identification when viewing and submitting speedruns. Thank you to Kibo for this recommendation! IL Quest Names will now read as the following:

  • A Futile Fight (Chatacabra)

That's cool that you've got full game categories etc. I can see you folks put a lot of thought and hard work into getting that online.

I think the major issue is that this board doesn't represent the majority of the speedrunning activities the community is interested in.

Single monster fights (ie via investigations) are the easiest entry point for someone who wants to get into running Wilds.

It's also easier to review submissions for the moderators. The game time at the end is all you need.

It's where the community is at - if you look at all speedrun videos on YouTube that's what people do and want to do. This board should reflect that.

I've been there as a major game moderator on speedrun - I know it seems impossible. But I emplore you to find a middleground ruleset for single fights. Investigations should be an entry point part of the speedrunning challenge will be to practice it against any difficulty and then execute against a low difficulty investigation with your limited tries. It becomes up to the player to determine best spawn point by camp. The question mark on environmental use - make a call.

I would put up a draft ruleset for single mon on a MH Speedrunning Discord and have the community discuss, many brains are better than one. It's how we did it with Hades.

Haven't seen a speedrun discord for MHWilds though - maybe a central place for the community needs to exist. Unless I missed it.

I quite agree @Jerds

I totally see the value in what you have set up here (and honestly, it is where I will post my own as I am quite bad at the game myself right now so practicing with optional and event quests is how I plan to start), but it does need to include investigations as that is what most of the community seems to be engaged in.

Perhaps to start with just adding the monster, whether they are tempered or not, and their threat level (the purple stars, not the quest stars) under RR and FS would be a great start and maybe down the line also include categories for the region and maybe even the area (in case some crazy tech gets discovered at a specific location with a weak ledge or something).

I know there are too many variables that are difficult to control, but I think instituting new rules as problems arise wouldn’t be a bad option (as the community will surely be ready to cry foul at the drop of a hat, making it easy to identify pain points rather than predict preemptively).

Regardless, I love this game and I hope this place becomes the go to hub for speedruns! Props to y’all banger start imho!

Hey @Jerds we do have a monster hunter speedrunning discord, you can find the link at the top of the page, right of the game image, or the Discord Link Here.

Also, while we believe Investigations to have too many differences to really compare top times, we do have ILs on the boards, you can find them under the Levels tab on SRC. You can then search for each IL based off their difficulty level and/or if it is an Event Quest.

My question is a simple one. How often you guys updating the speedruns? Like for events. As of this post mitzu is out zoa Shia, new event quests too. How long do we have to wait to speedrun those on this plateform?

Chicago, IL, USA

We usually try to uodate it within a day or two. The new quests should be uo today at some point.
