Wondering what the main differences there is doing a LA run using LADX route/strats?

Is rooster skip much harder?

Villa skip?

What new strats should i look to doing?

Hi all,

As you're all aware it isn't possible to do a 3-heart run in LADX due to needing to collect the Heart piece for the doors to open :(

But!

I've made a few changes to the LADX 1.0 & 1.2 USA ROM which allow us to go through the doors without the need to collect the hearts!

Things to note!

¤The Spin doors look like White/Grey Nightmare Doors

¤Let the heart land on the floor before you pass through the spin doors!

¤D2 - There's a push block to the left as you walk in. Kill the boss BEFORE you push the block.

¤D8 - There's a Switch on the floor which will open the doors. Kill Hot Head first and avoid the heart then go and press the switch.

With the 1.2 ROM you can't do long Super Jumps like you can in 1.0. You're also unable to Bomb Trigger and the D7 handle tap doesn't stop the blocks.

You can collect the hearts as normal nothing magical will happen other than you gaining +1 Heart piece but the rom allows you to try the game at a "harder" difficulty.

Any bugs please let me know and i'll try fix them!

But yeah kill the bosses as you usually would and let the heart piece drop before you go through the doors!

Yes, Misc category who really cares if it's an emu only run, just specify it in the rules.

Could make ROM hack it so the bosses are in the reverse order with correct items in dungeons to kill them OpieOP

Some additions - Pretty much useless...

-Will initiate dialogue with the Fisherman side quest.

-Will initiate dialogue with the Woman who wants the Yoshi Doll. (Will trade the Yoshi Doll for the Ribbon without you collecting the Yoshi Doll!

-Kanalet Castle - Will trigger the Switch text about the door without standing on it. (Door doesn't open until switch is stood on)

He's listed changes and there's also other discussions regarding how the route differs from the old one and Zorlax has already covered what else you can do in the mean time :)

So when you fall down don't move just mash the text and charge the sword. When the blob reaches the top of his jump and starts to come down release the sword and walk up and charge sword again. It'll take a few goes to get but you'll get it eventually. :)

edit: You can always collect the Mushroom from the Forest and use that in the Blob fight and it'll kill him straight away... but obviously that'll waste sooo much time :D

Personally I've always used the method Leon used in his video.

It can be pain in the ass to get sometimes but you will get it.

Would have been awesome if it was a finished game then we could of had co-op races :D

Also read some rumours that Links Awakening was meant to be a co-op game anyway :O

Correct me if i'm wrong but isn't Any% ACE hard to achieve on BGB?

I'm pretty sure most of the Any% ACE Runners are using Bizhawk/Gambatte to achieve this?

Personally if ACE is EMU only then I believe it should be added as a MISC category with a write up in the rules saying which EMUs and ROMs this is possible on. It's a fun category and people do like running it.

The Super Jumps are shorter than usual though?

It upsets me that you say he "doesn't know how to highlight" as you can clearly see he's highlighted in the past and not only a week ago made one..

I'm still interested to know how the credits screen managed to stretch the emulator and also zoom in slightly on the credits? Also once the credits had finished for the remaining frames we are sent back to the room with Link and the Chest... With the game at it's previous size?

Ok after looking through Lunk4Lyfes Any% [WR] run I believe there are some issues which need to be addressed. I believe this run is spliced and a shitty one at that... Here are some reasons and pictures. Please please correct me if I'm wrong.

1, Chest didn't open, Can't be seen on frame advance (Chest opens in GTs run and can hear it open) 2, Game screen increases in Size upon the white screen (GT's doesn't) 3, The last few frames of his video is reverts back to the Chest room where he softlocked in? 4, Credits don't play out.. 5, Sound levels are bad quality. 6, Sound cuts out on Sword being collected. 7, Played on VBA? 8, Best Actor of 2015 goes too....... 9, The game quality is different when he opens the chest. See the pictures below :) 10, Screen captured from Twitch Past boardcast (Broadcast now deleted) 11, Why didn't he just highlight this broadcast? (Because he had to splice it duh)

His screen size changes right after he "opens" the chest (The chest never opened)

Also if you watch the Video in 0.25 speed on YouTube at the end of the credits it goes back to the room which Link is left in and changes size again....

Yeah I believe Pokemon runs are RNG heavy from what i've seen at least the earlier Pokemon games.

LADX is a fun run to be fair there isn't too many RNG elements which will annoy you too much which is nice.

I've just realised that you're after a Save and Quit route. The video I linked you too is a No S+Q route. You'll still learn the game from that tutorial but you might be best off watching a S+Q run from 1 Year ago to see which route they're taking. Anything Newer than "1Year Ago" on the Leaderboards may have the new glitches in them. So you can still get a pretty good S+Q time even with the old route :)
