This thread will collect all of the changes to categories that might happen in the future.
There is one potential category change that might happen if no interest in it is shown before the end of the year. If the 50 Infinite Levels have no runs submitted to it by the end of the year, I believe the right call to make would be to remove the category due to lack of interest.
There is a Windows accessibility option that allows you to turn your numpad into a mouse, letting you hit 5 and + to account for clicking the left and right mouse buttons.
Would this be allowed in Normal speedruns?
Thanks in advance!
I'd like to apologize for the long time in between when runs are submitted and when they get approved or rejected. I'm very busy at this point in time and the other moderator is inactive at this point in time.
I'll try to get to the runs submitted in as timely a manner as possible, but please note that this might take a while. Please be patient with me and I'll get to your runs as soon as I can.
To help with this, a new moderator has been added, Hyperdron. Welcome to the moderation team!
I'd like to appeal to the community at large if they have any ideas for any new categories that could be added to the leaderboards. Please note that I'm more looking for runs that would fall under the Miscellaneous run or runs that have odd or interesting goals.
The moderators will go through and decide which ones will be added.
Thanks again and we are looking forward to see what ideas you guys come up with!
Moderation change:
After talking privately with Monsterracer , it was mutually decided that he would be stepping down as a moderato as of today due to not playing the game any longer.
Please give him a big round of applause for all the work he's done for the DemonCrawl speedrunning community over the past half a year or so!
Please also join me in welcoming Pinballwiz45b to our moderation team!
If you would like to participate in discussions about future rule changes and category changes, please join the DemonCrawl Discord here: https://discord.gg/2EF8HzQ .
Then, go to the #speedrunning channel to talk about changes.
Both rule changes and category changes will still be posted in the Rule and Category Changes thread on this forum as well!
Any changes in the rules from now on will go in this thread. Please make sure to look at this thread for more information about rule changes in the future!
Now that I've figured out how to do it, every mine density finally has it's own subcategory, so when you submit the run, you will have to select the type of run you did as well as the mine density.
Cheers!
This thread will be where all of the rule changes for this game will be posted.
As of 4/10/20, having a timer shown on screen in no longer required.
Ok, I've been mulling over this for a while, and I think it would be a very interesting idea to add a category called either Maxout or Max Points, or 999,999 points. Again, this would have to be separated into NTSC and PAL, but I think that there would be more than enough interest in category that it could become a very competitive category.
Another category that could be added under Misc. would be Level 19 Start Maxout or the other variations that I provided above.
Maxouts are very prevalent throughout Classic NES history, and I think it would be very interesting and fun to have a category for it, and I believe CTWC has a competition for who can max out on Level 19, though I may be confusing this with their competition for who can score the most points from a Level 19 start.
Anyways, with that being said, I think there would be more than enough interest in these new categories.
I would like other peoples' input on this idea, though. Thanks for reading!
I know the rules say that showing the emulator window + border is strongly recommended, but if I cannot do so, can I still submit?
Thanks :)
Hi there! I was wondering what the moderation team would like to do with runs that currently do not have any video proof for them. There is only one run without video proof currently, and I believe that it is fine for it to be deleted due to having no video proof.
I'd like the input of everyone in the community as to what should be done with these runs.
Thanks!
Because I am the only active moderator of this game, I have added a new rule that requires video proof for every run of this game.
The reason for this change is because it is the standard for almost every other game on this site.
Any runs that did not have any video proof have been removed from the leaderboards as a result of this change.
Would it be possible for you to allow for emulator runs for this game, please? I would very much like to do some runs of this game in multiple categories, but cannot at this moment due to the lack of the ability to allow for emulated runs.
Thanks :)
Please use this thread if you have any feedback on anything regarding how this leaderboard is being run, including, but not limited to:
*Categories *Rules
Thanks and happy hunting!
This thread will detail all of the rule changes that this games' categories undergo from now on.
As of the time of this posting, two changes in the rules have been added:
- On 11/06/19, it was made possible to submit runs of any mine density but low. This applies to every category.
- Sometime in mid November, a major rule change was made that requires in game audio to be able to be heard in every submission. The purpose for this change is to make it harder to splice the runs together.
Let me know what other changes you would like to see! Thanks!
Are there any limits as to which emulators are allowed or if emulated runs are allowed, or if there are any limitations on how fast emulated runs are allowed (basically, if I get a fast time on emulator, would it be rejected vis-a-vi Super Mario Bros. where they only accept emulator runs that are a percentage slower than the current record runs)? Thanks in advance for the help!
Now, I would like to come back to this and say that the original purpose for making these categories does not seem to interest enough of the current or past runners to make it worthwhile to keep them. Not sure if anyone else agrees, but I just don't see the interest there. I would like to see all of the IL boards removed as there is a lack of interest for them.
There has been a total of like 10 runs in the six months since it has been added, which is far too little to support having leaderboards for each level, in my honest opinion.
Congratulations to our newest moderator, NeGAtiv4k!
Hi there all! I would like to ask everyone in this community to help out and write down any and all suggestions that you can come up with to attract new players to run this game.
I feel as though we should try to do something to increase the current number of active players that run this game, and I cannot think of any way to help attract new players to this game at this point in time.
If you can come up with any suggestions, please list them below! Thank you very much in advance!
