Alright, since there was no opposition, I'll soon update the rules and re-time previously submitted runs! Cheers!
Hey, everyone!
Recently, a new runner of the game, ArchieWIZARD, brought up the suggestion that the rules be tweaked for ILs. Instead of timing from elevator black frame to elevator black frame, we could stop the timer as soon as the "Level Completed!" text is visible, upon hitting the Boss. Since there's not a lot of IL runs already, we could retroactively change the times to fit this new rule.
PROS:
- Quicker runs, which could mean more runs;
- Focuses the IL runs on the setup and throw, which is arguably what really matters.
CONS:
- We lose a bit on the maneuvering to get back to the elevator, which is a challenge in and of itself;
- There'd no longer be as much need for being a precise clicker, as the elevator button (in a rush) currently requires.
I'm not against changing it, but I'd also like to give people the opportunity to voice their opinions. If you feel any type of way about this change, please let us know! Feel free to suggest more Pros and Cons if I've missed any as well.
I'll give it, let's say, a week? On the 21st of August, I'll close this thread with a decision! Cheers!
Yep! That's my bad for prematurely verifying!
Haven't seen anyone suggesting it, and it's possibly for Category Extensions, but I believe it might be possible to do a Pacifist Any% run – as in, killing no enemies, stunning allowed when possible. Could be fun! :)
Don't remove Min Caps!! There's tons of interest from viewers (Smallant1's second most watched video is a min caps run, livestreams of it always hit over a thousand viewers), and it's a category that keeps on growing with new routes and tricks (think SMW 0-Exit, which was very similar in that way). It would be a huge shame to lose the entire category. Please reconsider this.
Hi!
I'd like to request to become a mod for Winds of Revenge (/Winds_of_Revenge). There's a single mod, Hallkatla, who hasn't been online for almost a year. The Twitter and Twitch accounts also don't seem to have been used in quite a while.
I've had two pending WR runs for almost a week, and I don't think the mod will be accepting them any time soon.
As a bonus, I'm willing to spend some time creating a cute style for the leaderboard (and adding a game cover, because even that is lacking :c), just like I did for No Touch!
Thanks for taking your time, and keep up the great work!
Hello!
I'd like to apply for the game No Touch (/No_Touch). There's a single mod, PrincessGriff, and they haven't been online since December 9th 2017. Their profile doesn't include any contact information either so I had no way of getting in touch.
I'm active on sr.com, I have the WR on that game (or, would have if it was verified) and would be willing to create a cute themed logo for the page and everything <3
Thanks for taking your time!
I agree with Gelly on this one. I think it'll be easier both for the runner and for the verifiers if the time is counted from start to finish, not by a sum of each individual level.
Just my opinion though ✨
Alright, so the earliest instance of a flash-based geography web game with maps, on the Wayback Machine, is July 25th 2002 (https://web.archive.org/web/20020725104705/http://www.sheppardsoftware.com:80/), with the "States Web Games". It seems to be similar enough to the current games.
I'll make that the "release date" and we can just consider updates and improvements as newer versions of the same game, if that's cool with everyone. I'm open to suggestions, though
I can't find a good source on the release date of this website.
The earliest external resource referencing Sheppard Software is from November 23rd, 2005 ().
However, Google lists the website as being from May 28th, 2005 (). I've set this as the release date.
In case anyone can dig up anything else, please feel free to go ahead and update the information (or request an update).
I am 100% on board with this idea. The runs on this category (which I'll hereby nickname as "pit%" while a better name isn't proposed) are way shorter than the monstrosity 4-hour-long Any% runs (and don't even get me started on 100%), getting around the same time as SM64 120 Star, which is one of if not the most popular category for SM64, proving that that model of runs is something people enjoy both running and watching. It's not too long as to bore everyone but at the same time not too short as to get repetitive quickly. Please, give us a pit% leaderboard <3
