Basically just an idea I've been tossing around. The premise of a "single segment" (SS) run would be to do all of the quizzes in a region all in one sitting. Timing could be something similar to how they do it in Mike Tyson Punch Out where they just add up all the IGT of each of the boxers. For a SS run of this game, one would go through all the quizzes of a region and then add up all of the final times to get the true time for the run. Of course 100% on all quizzes would be needed. Mainly just a thought I've been tossing around in my head. I think it would be a neat idea and would give us something to put in the "Full game" runs if we so choose.
i think it's easily viable, the question is whether people would actually do them.
i know i would, but would there be enough interest to justify it besides me?
Yeah I know it would be viable, I'm just bad at titles. And I'm sure if we had them more people would be interested in doing them.
Before I (or someone else) makes a category for it I just want to hear people's opinions on a specific thing about a SS run. Let's say you're on a run and you get to like Africa bodies of water or something and you misclick and get one wrong. My thought would be you could just add the time of the IGT at the time you failed with the time of your run that actually get's 100%. The only problem with this is that there are some quizzes that just don't ever show the IGT until you complete the entire quiz. All of this is assuming you don't want to reset the run of course. I'm not sure if the person failing on one of these levels would just be forced to play to the end, see the IGT of their failed run and then go back through the quiz in order to get a 100% and add both times or what.
Thoughts?
i'm not the mod, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. i think that your runs should not be an addition of in game times, like a segmented run, but more like how fast you actually go in real time - perhaps with a timer like livesplit or something like that. an autosplitter would be pretty easy to code for something like this as far as I know. instead of bothering with recording and writing down igt, you can just have all 9 (13? 17? i'm not sure what the single segment all includes) tabs open and you move from one game to another in real time. if you fail? just refresh the tab.
again, other opinions on this would be nice.
I agree with Gelly on this one. I think it'll be easier both for the runner and for the verifiers if the time is counted from start to finish, not by a sum of each individual level.
Just my opinion though ✨
