I got a modded GC which everytime I turn it on it loads a Swiss 0.6 interface, Google says it is some kind of emulator inside the GC, is it allowed to run this game?

There is a Level 10 transition, why not a Level10 Category?

Is it ok if I set the game music off and play my own tunes for a run to be valid?

With this I don't mean mute the console/Emu, the game has the option to turn off its music and I was wondering if I can turn if off and just pay some of my favorite tunes during my gameplay.

GG runners!

I have a few runs submitted on the Category Extensions (Minecraft Java) and they have been on queue for over a week now. That is actually not the problem, the problem is that every single day since I submitted my runs I get to see multiple runs being played, submitted and verified on the same day.

I asked a mod why they are allowing other runners skip the verification queue and they replied with "it depends on the category ran", it made sense to me on that moment but after a couple of days I'm still watching multiple runs getting verified the very same day they were submitted.

That left me to believe that they are intentionally verifying only the runs they want while they let new players excluded on the queue. That is unfair.

sr.c should completely lock newer runs until the old runs get the attention; I am not a programmer but maybe just a check like: "if oldest submittion > 2 weeks, lock runs, sort runs oldest to newest"

It's not fair that some runners get to skip queue while others (I'd say new runners) have to wait.

He creado un server para Super Mario World para Latinoamérica (España es 100% bienvenida) aquellos runners de habla hispana únanse para hacer crecer la comunidad en nuestra región.

El server es nuevo pero tengo la esperanza de que juntos lo hagamos crecer.

We would like to remind to all the players that video proof is important. It not only represents your accomplishments but also provides friendly competitiveness as other players may try to learn from others.

Please refrain from deleting the video proof as it may result in leaderboard removal.

I've bought this game years ago and for some reason I thought it would be a good idea to run it, the thing is that there's no way I can record a run that for sure will last for 3 or more hours. I was thinking on maybe use my Lighting to HDMI cable to put the video on a TV and using another camera to record my TV, wound it be allowed?

I'm thinking of this because my iPhone is only 32 GBs and there's no way it can fit a 3+ hour screen record video. The Lightning to HDMI adapter provides no advantage and its purpose is to output my iPhone screen to a TV and I can use another camera (with more storage) to record the run.

I have no interface to output my iPhone screen to my PC (or even to my old Mac) to record the screen either. This idea I had it's my only choice for now unless I find some way to work around this.

I know many prefer the original SNES over the GBA remake, but today is my honor to inform to the loved players of Super Mario World that the GBA remake now has a Category Extensions.

I'm still looking for categories, my plan is to add all the categories from the SNES that can be ran in GBA. Many of the glitches from the SNES no longer work in the GBA remake so those who are interested may need to find new strats and adjust themselves to the GBA's smaller screen.

So far I won't be asking for new mods since the remake is not particularly popular but based on how many runs you guys submit and how many fun categories we can implement I may need in the future some help with mods or verifiers.

At the moment of this post I added World 1; Obroe%; World 2; World 2, No Cape; World 3; World 3, No Cape; 1 Yump; 999 Lives; All Switches and Beat Special World. They are all there for you to run and have fun!

-What is a Category Extension? A: This kind of leaderboard indicates a secondary leaderboard meant to have categories that do not fit within the main game leaderboard.

-What categories will be added? A: I plan to add all the categories from the Super Mario World Extra Categories that CAN BE RUN on the GBA remake of Super Mario World. Categories that rely on glitches like Orb Glitch or ACE cannot be run on the GBA remake and therefore cannot be added.

-How can I request a Category that does not exist in the Super Mario World Extra Categories? A: Send me a private message or post in this thread including a video (from a public site such as YouTube or Twitch) showing me a full run of your category request. Make sure to include the hardware you used and if an Emulator was used please include which one and which version you used in your run. Your request must be done in a clean unaltered ROM of "Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance 2" with a controller that meets the requirements of any RTA speedrun including but not limited to the the ban of Up+Down and/or Left+Right at the same time and/or turbo buttons.

-Can I be a mod/verifier? A: The category extensions leaderboard is brand new (opened in Jan 25, 21) little categories and runs have been submitted so no help is required yet. Keep grinding those categories and make sure more people gets interested so I need help and request more mods.

  • How the verification process is done? A: See the video on the How the Verification Process is done thread.

  • Which is the starting frame of my run and which is the final frame? A1: The starting frame is the easiest to find. All categories begin from an empty file, when you choose a new file the screen fades to back to show the intro cinematic. To find the first frame of your run check frame by frame to see in which frame the screen starts to fade. The run HAS BEGAN at the darker frame therefore that must be counted. A2: The final frame depends of the category. Categories like World 1, World 2, and similar end on the Boss Whistle. Similar to the file selection the screen fades to black when Boss Whistle plays. The last frame will be the frame before the screen fades. In other categories, like Yumps, the last frame is the frame the player lands on the switch as long as the player jumps off of the switch. Categories like Feed the Yoshi have a visual cue in the coin counter to help you determine the last frame. Finally for categories based on finishing the game such as 11 Exits, No Cape; 11 Exit, Pacifist; 121 Exit; 150 Exit and 960 Exit; the final frame is the first frame of seeing Princess Peach OUT of Bowser's Clown Car.

  • What is the framerate of the game/console? The game was originally published for Game Boy Advance. All timing will be done using the GBA's original framerate of 59.727500569606 Hz.

  • I think a player cheated their run, what can I do? A: Cheating claims are not a joke. First of all DO NOT harass the players you think they have cheated on private messages or social networks. If you do it you'll also be punished from the leaderboard. Any player accused of cheating will be asked if they have received messages or other forms of accusations via social networks regardless if they cheated or not so even if your accusation is right you'll be timeout or banned from the leaderboard for harassing others. Harassments, bullying, false accusations, flooding the player's videos or streams with accusation messages, among other things will not be tolerated.

The correct way to deal with a player you think has cheated is reading the rules of the category to backup your claim then on a PRIVATE message tell the mod(s) your claim and which is the run you believe has been cheated. Tell the mod(s) the specific reason you think the run has been cheated. Mod(s) will investigate the case and will take the actions needed to solve the problem.

Any cheated run will be taken down from the leaderboards. 1st cheat offenders will be politely asked to not to that again 2nd cheat offenders will receive a 1 month timeout. 3rd cheat offenders will receive a ban from the this leaderboard.

False accusers will receive the similar punishments. 1st false accusers will be politely asked to not to that again 2nd false accusers will receive a 2 week timeout. 3rd false accusers will receive a 1 month timeout. More than 3 false accusations may result in a ban depending on the severity of the accusations.

Please do not cheat, do not false accuse.

I will update this thread if more questions need to be answered in the future.

Inspired by the Super Mario World Extra Categories the SMA2 now has its own Extensions!

Come here and see the Category Extensions.

As a side note I won't be asking for mods or verifiers since the Category Extension is brand new, but depending on how many runs and categories are open I may be requesting for help in future by opening mod positions.

So I just ran this game and I since it was my first run I did this:

Played the two first minigames (Presto and Adacadabra) until 5 correct answers then I was sent to the game's menu, then I played the rest if the minigames once but since I didn't know how to go to menu when the rabbit appears I soft-reset the game and moved to the next minigame. Is that allowed?

In the next mini games I played them all in order.

First I have to say that Both Quests caught my attention and I decided to try, took a while and I played it safe but now I wonder if I can cut the video to only the Second Quest part and submit it as Second Quest. I'm no saying submitting the same video for both, There will be one full video of Both Quests and other video with only the Second Quest.

Can I do that?

If not, how do I start the game in second quest? I've seen some runs that immediately start on second quest and as far as I know you can only do that by beating the first.

MexicoMingura6663 years ago

I'm about to start this game, although my only experience is the GBA version I will be attempting the NES, my only question is if this game runs on framerules like SMB1.

MexicoMingura6663 years ago

The 8-4 IL caught my attention. I don't really know what is it about. I don't even know what "IL" means. But it seems to me that is about beating 8-4 as fast as possible. I already ran some attempts and got 3 runs but there are a few things that I don't get.

  • What does "IL" mean?
  • Can I use any framerule I want?

I read in the rules that savestates and the practice rom are allowed but it doesn't say anything regardless of which framerule should I use at the start.

Hello I'm a new player.

I have no way to capture my phone screen (besides the Apple's default Screen Record) so I don't know how to stream my attempts. I'd like to capture my screen so I can add LiveSplit timer in the video but as I said it seems pretty tough to do it. Do I need to stream the the game or can I just record my screen and submit runs just like that?

Also I bought this game a year ago and I already unlocked many game modes and stuff, does it matter for submitting run or do I need to delete all my progress?

EDIT: Please excuse my gramar, it's 7:40 AM where I live and I haven't gone to sleep.

Hey I just got a new PB (not the best ever but PB anyway) using an abnormal time delay at the start.

I usually use the ones I found in this SMB Frame Count, normally -5.03 or -4.33 and sometimes -7.12 or -8.52 when running. I use them for no particular reason other that they're the most common delays I've seen but no matter what delay I use somehow I always found an extremely hard (for me) Bros. pattern in 8-3.

I was using -4.33, I made it to 8-3 where the Bros. told me "not today", instead of resetting I kept playing and the next pattern was very easy: down, up, jump all bros.

When I finished the level I got a +12s in my split after dying in 8-4 I reset the run and added 12 seconds to my delay hopping to get that easy pattern. I don't know if my thinking is correct but I was very tired and annoyed of always getting a double kill pattern to I just used a -12.33 time delay at the beginning.

I finished the run with a new PB and a big question.

Are abnormal time delays allowed?

To avoid the demo playing I spammed the Select button until -2.5x when I press Start to begin the run.

I've been trying during these days and I still haven't finished one practice yet. Can someone please tell me if my Koopas are in the right positions?

In the case the Koopas are in the right spots, how do I trigger the wrong warp? Sometimes I don't press anything and when Mario reaches the bottom screen he just stands there. Other times I jump and well it kind of triggers the glitch but immediately crashes the game. Is there any specific inputs that I need to do to trigger the whole thing?

This is my most recent practice from like 40 minutes before this post if you can help me I really appreciate that:

Thanks in advance.
