Horizontal player speed.

The player has a speed variable and a friction one (those aren't their names in the code, just to be clear)
friction=1 most of the time.
Except when on ice, then friction=0.1, and on the first frame at the beggining of each room where it's 0.5.
When holding a direction, the game adds up speed into that direction.

Exemple :
speed=0
Player hold left
speed=-1 *(negative is left)*
speed=-2
The player switch direction, goto right
speed=-1 *(speed increase)*
speed=0
speed=1
speed=2 (speed cap)

What that means, is than when holding left then switching right, there is momentum gathered
It takes 2 frames to get to full speed in a standing position, 4 to get to the opposite of actual full speed (switching from a direction to the other)
 
When holding a direction and switching, we have a 2 frames window to change.

When hitting a wall, the speed is set back to 0 and you need to get all the speed back then.
This doesn't change anything most of the time, since it takes two frames to get back at full speed.

How to Preform 5-9 Laser Skip

**Information:**
The 5-9 Laser Skip, or just simply Laser Skip, is one of, if not, the hardest tricks in the game. It saves roughly ~2 seconds, and is mostly an advanced strategy. **I do not recommend this trick to new speedrunners of the game.** 


**Preforming the trick:**

Immediately preform the level like normal until the last section of the first platform. Normally, you would be forced to stop and wait for a laser to fire, otherwise it would kill you. However, we are not going to do this.

Instead of stopping like normal, continue the level. When you get to the second set of lasers, stop for only a split second. The lasers will fire, which would normally kill you. If you manage to time it just right, though, you can continue going left. Be careful, though, as even being a hair off of timing your movement can still kill you. 
There is a very small visual cue that can help you, though. Look at the lasers above you. When they touch the first platform, move like normal. This is extremely hard to time, but if you did it correctly, then congrats! You just did one of the hardest tricks in the entire game!

How to Unlock Everything

This is a short guide on how to unlock everything in the game, without going through a single level, or even opening the game. This is mainly used for practicing levels without having to go back and beat the entire game over and over again.

1. Go to your local files in %appdata%
2. Find the folder that is named 'You_Have_10_Seconds_2_Steam_Release'
3. Open the only file in the folder. 
4. Change **ALL** of the values from "0.000000" to "1.000000"
5. Open the game and you should now have everything unlocked!

Known Notable Strats (w/ Videos)

These are some of the notable strategies that can be used to save time during a run. Ordered by difficulty.

**Jumping off of platforms**

Jumping off of platforms can save more time than what you think. You gain more momentum when jumping off of platforms instead of falling off of them. This adds up over the course of a run, and is a big timesave for individual level runs.

**Difficulty: 0/10**

**Player Speed**

@KikooDX already made a [detailed guide](https://www.speedrun.com/yh10s2/guide/xagle) over this, so I'll keep it brief. 
When the player runs in a certain direction, you will gain speed in holding that direction. This is by far the easiest way to save time in the game.

**Difficulty: 0/10**

**Extra-5 Gravity Skip**

The EX-5 GS is a very, very easy way to save time. All you have to do is not jump on the arrows and go up like normal. Its that simple 4Head

**Walls**

Touching walls will slow the player down a little. **Try to avoid touching walls whenever you can!**

**Difficulty: 1/10**

**2-8 Platform Skip**

The 2-8 Platform Skip is also a very easy way to save time. Play 2-8 like normal, but instead on getting on the platform to the right, just jump straight up. This has been known to sometimes fail for no reason, though.

**Difficulty: 1/10**

**8-5 Low Jump** 

This trick is super simple to understand and learn. Instead of jumping over the invisible hole in 8-5, go in it for a split second and jump. It saves very little time, but as said before, very simple to learn.

**Difficulty: 2/10**

**Extra-2 Gravity Skip**

This trick is essentially a very precise double jump over a set of gravity arrows. Easy to learn, but tricky to master.

**Difficulty: 3/10**

**Fast 6-2**

This is where you start to get into the hard, but very effective strategies. Instead of waiting for the lasers on 6-2, just do the level like normal. The only thing to remember is to NOT jump on the rightmost platform on the top; just go straight up.

**Laser Skip**

Laser skip is one of, if not, the hardest trick in the game, and it will only save you around ~2 seconds. Do 5-9 like normal, only you wait on the floor at a specific time to skip waiting for a laser on the first platform.
