Hardware note: I did run this with a real US disc on my slim PS2 (model SCPH-79001) with fast disc speed enabled, since that seemed to get me closest to the load times I saw in the emulator runs. Gameplay still runs at the same speed, but it did cause a few audio hiccups with certain sound samples (notably the announcer).
