FPS should be capped at 60 FPS (so no one does have an advantage by having a faster computer, and there will be a common baseline)
-
Timer must be visible (but you should not obscure the game feed too much, so that it can be verified). Failure to do so will mean automatic rejection!
-
No DLC speedruns will have to have DLC disabled (failure to do so will get your run moved to DLC category)
Good job on the run, but please, enable embeds on YouTube, so it can be embedded on here. Thank you.
100%:
You are REQUIRED TO SHOW the following:
- Gettting all 47 Achievements and CLAIM/GET the REWARDS from them
- Getting MC's EGO to 999 for each stat
- Complete the Library (get all Materials, Sounds and Psych Tests)
- Get all profiles and complete them by getting all associated EGO crystals. This REQUIRES you to wish for resurrection of Kakeru Hasegawa after beating the post-game final boss, as you cannot complete all profiles without it!
- Get every single Key Item (you should have 15 at the end of the run)
- Get every single Tutorial
You cannot show the following through the in-game menus, but the run WILL be checked for these afterwards as well:
- Get every single collectible in the overworld (blue collectibles and items in safes, since they do not respawn)
- Check every single note and hint (since they are marked as read when you check them out)
Timing ends when you showcase the completeted save. The save has to be completed 100% for the run to be accepted (meaning you can't show multiple saves with different completion rates), since the game can and does track progress within a single savefile.
Runs that omit ANYTHING listed above will NOT be accepted and be rejected!
True Ending:
- Defeat the final boss. Timing ends when "Task Completed: Vain, Empty Ego" is shown when you load the save (either auto or manual save).
All Achievements:
- Get and collect every single achievement. Timing ends when you show all of the achievements have been collected and you getting/claiming the rewards on a single save (no unclaimed reward is left on a single save)
Resurrection:
- Defeat the post-game final boss and resurrect either Sora Jingu or Kakeru Hasegawa. Timing ends when see the associated cutscene in the infirmary (after you defeat the postgame final boss and load the save)
Individual levels: Please refer to the rules of each individual level, as the timing is outlined within each section. Here is a brief outline:
- Individual Character: Complete the act of a chosen character within your chosen act.
- All Characters: Complete All Character acts within your chosen act
- Act Completion: Complete the act in full. For Act 1 it is the completion of "Recurring Twilight" For Act 2 it is the Chapter Announcement: "Deepest Reaches: The Gate"
PC (Steam): Uncheck the DLCs you have and you are done
PS4, PS5: If you have the digital version:
Delete the game from storage (you can keep your save data and do not have to delete them). Go to your library and select the game. Click on "Download". If you have any DLC, you will be presented with a list of things that have a checkbox next to them. Do NOT SELECT ANYTHING (alternatively, you can click on "Deselect All") and just press "Download" The game will download without any DLC, since they are presented as separate "Add-On" content.
If you have the disc version: Delete the game from storage (you can keep your save data and do not have to delete them). DO NOT DOWNLOAD the "Add-Ons" (DLC) from your Library/PSN! You can update the game by selecting "Check For Update" and the game will update without any DLC.
PS4 and PS5 have mandatory data installations and if you delete the application's data through storage management, all "Add-Ons" (DLC) will be deleted as well (save data will be intact)
The game will not download the DLC automatically, they have to be manually selected for download through the Library/PSN if they are refused initially.
Please show that you have 60 FPS in the PC config setting before you start your run (to prevent "pay to win" for people with faster PCs having faster loading/speed by default and it would be unfair to those who can't hit higher FPS counts). This will even the playing field for everyone.
All Endings speedrun - start from a blank state (delete your save games), save the clear file to a separate (new) save. This is non-negotiable and failure to do so will make your run invalid.
Alternate Ending and Go-Home Club Ending - you do not have to start from a blank state, but loading a save not made in the current run is forbidden, so starting from a blank state is recommended.
No DLC runs - disable any and all DLC before you start the run. Failure to do so won't make your run invalid, but it will be moved into DLC category and renamed as such.
Failure to comply with any of these guidelines will end up in rejecting your run from the leaderboard.
Since this game will have a PC release in a few weeks, I would like to clarify a few things:
If the game will have "adjust FPS" option, then it will be required to have it at 60 FPS. This is to prevent "pay to win", i.e. people having a faster hardware having automatically faster times.
If you'll end up purchasing any DLC, then you will be required to disable it for "no DLC" runs. The game will be released on Steam and Epic Games Store, and both platforms have the option to untoggle DLC aquired, unlike consoles. Failure to do so will result in your run to be moved to the "DLC" variable, since you can prevent the DLC from activating on PC.
If you want to include your splits/timer in the video footage (in the game feed), please do NOT cover important UI elements of the game, particularly the bottom right side of the game. It is making things harder to verify.
A good spot is the lower left portion of the screen, or even the top left, since the game has minimal UI elements there. When you do this, make sure your transparency is 50-60% maximum. You could also make the splits not big or show fewer splits.
To avoid this issue entirely, have the splits beside the game feed as this is the safest way, since splits are mainly for you.
Any runs that do not adhere to this from now on will be rejected.
I am for the split/separation.
This should have been done a long time ago, right or at least when comments like were made:
"This run does not perform the Nyx Skip. So it will become Obsolete when I do one that does." -Darkkefka
To my knowledge, most games when encountering skips like that are separated pretty shortly after the discovery of such a major skip/glitch: Prince of Persia, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, etc.
Even if we compare this within similar leaderboards (SMT for example) the way the runs were not separated made even less sense. You would not want the runs that are like 30 minutes by using a major glitch and runs without it that are like 2 hours on the same leaderboard, would you?
Keeping the runs together reflected badly compared to the rest of the series' leaderboards and by keeping them separated there will be the same level of organization as with the other leaderboards.
