Clear enough - I will add this to the rules of the 100% categories: 1 kill will be missed on Hard on Powerplant
Hello
I'm not an expert on this software but it seems that not all games works correctly with the POPStarter and therefore generally it is not allowed for several other games for speedrunning - therefore I would not allow it for Quake II either.
This seems enough proof that:
- 1 kill will be missed on easy, medium on Security Complex,
- 2 kills will be missed on hard on Security Complex
- and 1 kill will be missed on Research Lab (all three difficulties)
I will these them to the rules
The meaning of these rules is to emulate the real hardware, as close as possible. I want to make sure that real hardware is still an option for the speedrunning and comparable with the emulation runs.
These rules will be in effect on September 4th 2020
When streaming/recording a run you must be able to capture the window to show what emulator is being used. BizHawk is able to display the status bar under window capture, that must be displayed. RetroArch will has specific requirements below. You are able to run without showing the window. You must also state what emulator is being used when submitting your run.
Accepted Emulators: • XEBRA • BizHawk 2.4.1 or newer [Recommended] • mednafen • RetroArch (Beetle/Beetle HW)
BizHawk Setup: Games can only run under the cue format. • PSX > Options • Select either mednafen mode option.
RetroArch Dedicated Rules: You must show settings of the core settings before/after the run. Your settings must match this: • CPU Dynarec: Disabled (Beetle Interpreter) [Default] • Cycles: 128 (Default) • GTE Overclock: Disabled • GPU Overclock: 1x (native) • Skip Bios: Disabled. • Access Method: Synchronous • Loading Speed: 2x (native) • PAL (European) Video Timing Override: OFF Recommended: Keep PGXP Disabled Custom settings are allowed for anything that isn't mentioned such as resolution.
Yes, this is cool :)

Hello
I have been wondering, does game time have a last digit which is not completely shown in the corner of the screen.
For example, my entry for Slalom is 0m 30s 170ms but sometimes it looks like in the corner the time is 0m 30s 175ms.
For me it looks like the last digit is always 5 in the corner of the screen. I suggest we don't put that in for speedrun entries :) Just use the time which is shown in the pop-up window when the run ends.

Hi. Sorry for the delay in answering.
Using PS2 console is not forbidden. I know the loading times can be faster for PS1 games when playing them with PS2 console instead of original PS1.
So you can do a speedrun by playing the game with PS2 console :)
Hello kwasec
Nice to see you posting here on forum also :)
"Using hacked isos, which allow faster look movements of analog stick is forbidden"
I think that is good to add to rules! Thank you for this notice.
In my opinion it is not possible to restrict emulator runs and I don't want it (allthought I never play with emulator). Honestly I haven't never seen that kind of restriction at speedrun.com.
Please inform me if you really want to have the segmented categories.
Of course I can make separate category for the real PS1 mouse with rule to show the mouse in the video clip ;)
Well nowadays it is very problematic to make a category in which you can play only with the real console. The reasons: you cannot verify is the game in question played on the real console or not, and people don't have these games anymore :) But you can see instantly if the game is played with the controller input VS mouse (and keyboard).
You can never win against keyboard and mouse input with the controller in the FPS game. It's true :)
Yeah, I understand that issue with real PS1 mouse compared to emulator. But the real PS1 mouse is quite rare and as you said, it is not so good to play with ;)
But it is good to have the controller category for emulator/real PS1 runs which is played with controller.
Hello.
I think you really should make a run and submit it :)
This video contains some tricks to make a run faster for the runners of this game. Thanks for posting it :)
