Look in the spam (other) boxmail, it should be there ;)
Managed to PB in Xenoblade, finally beating my 9 months old PB with a 6:03:xx! http://www.speedrun.com/run/dy4gj2dy
THe time is actually quite good, despite the few runs I was able to do (exam month I love you). I'll keep on grinding the game whatever ESA cuts are I'm pretty sure: still want to improve and finally get that sub 6 hours. MLSTRM (who is basically going to grind until second cut) and I will do our best to make it before ESA, I'm pretty sure; even if my PB right now is quite lower than his, he can definitly catch up, and eventually get it, before or after me.
We will probably keep the estimate at 6:45 as we stated before, because of the RNG stuff happening at the beggining/endgame.
Oh yeah this one, but it's a given. What I meant is for example on the conveyor belt of Mechonis Field, it's faster to always jump, not just at the end.
Rules as stated on the leaderboard is when you hit New Game, so stick to that ;) GL with runs anyway :)
Well not that much; you just decide when you'll split dependig on what is on screen. the precision is of an order of less than a second and it's fine like it. And if you really care, local record and look at each split frame by frame (even though that's really only done to get final time/untie ppl).
We definitly need money throughout the run yeah; that's basically why we get all close by unexplored area: if you put research probe where unexplored area are, you get a lot of money. So basically all research probe you find put in on unexplored area; you should find about more of these than you have research probe.
Second thing you want from probes is Endurion Lead. It's actually the only material needed to finish the game, you need 3 of these ad you need to get the probe ASAP to not get screwd when you need them... As I still was on my PB, unfortunatly. You could also get some other materials that could be useful for your augments ( I don't really know which these are though, too rusty), but this is the main idea about probes.
THere aren't autosplitters for Minish Cap; desigig an auto splitter requires looking in the game memory so that livesplit can check some values that would change: that would be your splits. But so far, no one has really fgured how to check values on non PC games since, you know, PC don't actually run the game.
Alrighty then! Time to push Xenoblade to sub 6 ad Pandora's Tower to sub 2:20 :P
A small post to sum up my situation regarding my submissions. Since all of my games got in the first cut, I had to make a choice about which game I would practice and which I wouldn't, considering it's a total of ~24hours submissions that got in. I decided not to practice Pandora's Tower, Fire Emblem and X, to only focus on Minish Cap and Xenoblade... And I couldn't do any runs for Xenoblade sadly, so only Minish Cap was actually seen on stream. I do intend to comeback on Xenoblade before the cuts, doing races and beat my PB.
Pandora's Tower: I feel like my PBs are good enough as of now, so I decided to not do runs of this game as improvement wouldn't change much to the what is currently o the leaderboard.
Fire Emblem: My PB was done a log time ago, and with an older route than what is currently used. ven then my PB was pretty good, even if I could still beat it by aroud a minute since I improved; I just did't take the time to grid the game. If you want to see the new route, ad the route I intend to use for the marathon, the WR run will be good enough, as Steve and I are at the same level.
Minish Cap: Since first cut was announced, I worked really hard on this game; I got a few runs going and managed to beat my PB twice, ending with the 4:31 I have right now, more than 30 minutes improvement. I know however I can improve up to 4:25, I just didn't have much time to do runs until recently. I'll probably have to put estimate 10 minutes higher to feel safer, but no need for more.
Xenoblade: MLSTRM put a decent chunk of work on the game, and ow has a PB really close to mine; cosidering we offered the game as a race, it would be a really interesting race to see. We still fully intend to do races before the marathon (just need to wait that MLSTRM comes back from uni, or some other ppl in the community derust and get ready).
X: Out of all my submissions, X is the game I decided to put behind, and is currently the game I submitted that I would rather not see chose. The game has some killing RNG, the route is far from final, and the race potential is dead, while Xenoblade is way better on everything I just explained. If you want to choose a Xenoblade game, choose Chronicles istead of this one.
I also heard that version is going to be a criteria for which game will be chosen, so here is a small word about it: Minish Cap is on the JP version. Fire Emblem is US version. Pandora's Tower is glitched on US version, as you can't go twice into the last dungeon. Doesn't matter for speedrun, but it means that PT is mostly known in Europe, as American people had hard time finishing it. Xenoblade is run on the VC version. Both MLSTRM and me ru it on PAL Wii U. A few days ago, only the PAL VC version was released, so PAL version would have been played. US VC came out this week, so our fellow american can also now run on NTSC/US Wii U.
I have also a few ideas for incentive for all those submissions, if it's also going to be a criteria.
Non-recorded runs are ok as long as it isn't a good time considering the leaderboard. If you have a ru good enough you need some sort of recording to prove your words :)
I can defiitly send you an ivite for the discord channel, just give me a way to send you MPs and we are good.
Oh god all my games got in D: I wasn't expecting all of them to get in, damn, because now I still don't really know what to put aside... Guess I'll focus on my weaker games then :P
Mmh, I see. Well the problem here is to get in this room you have a white load, which basically take out OG status. Most places when you load them there is like just a screen transition, so it doesn't change Link status, but white load completly reload a normal Link. So unless we find a way to bypass this or get OG differently well, that could be interesting :)
Flipper skip huh? That's interesting. Could be cool if you could send the savefile to see how you got this :)
If you use the Ocarina again, it cancels the effect of Ocarina glitch, but you will keep your height; you need either a stair like the DHC one or the Water temple one to change your height to normal or a ledge there is no other way you can go back at the height you want otherwise AFAIK. So sadly I don't think your problem can be solved no :(
Yeah I did this: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1GdRotNDI2ziDzfK6E4pXYFrP3BkO9NpA50o7lOZ-ag4/edit#
It's not really that good though, I need to rework on it at some point though (the route being quite straightforward I earned that by heart as I was routing/running it)
Well there is this spreadsheet that will show you where to find everything: it's pretty accurate, and everything is easy to find with that. You really shouldn't have any collectibles with this https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1g0YR4M8RAHiRhCbAvV4tjXXHLEhRMrARzZMYAUGmyZ4/htmlview?sle=true#
Also there are other stuff than collectibles in this so feel free to get informed ;)
Collectibles aren't really RNG, they are all in different places, you just need to know where they are. And with a skell it really shouldn't be ard to have one of each if we try to.
About fighting you really just need to understand how overdrive actually works. It's the most broken thing ever, and you can easily destroy anything with it, as log as you can hit them. You can do tremendous damage, while having really good defense and resource management thanks to it. And if you have good enough equipment, it can go even faster.
