10 goals categories in games like Ice Hockey and Blades of Steel open the games up to more players. If the categories in those games weren't "10 Goals" but were "10 Goals and Finish the Game" they wouldn't be as popular. As a more casual speedrunner, I wouldn't be interested in doing that type of run, and I don't have interest in doing the TSB Points% category -- I think it takes the fun part of certain sports speedruns (X Points) and combines it with, as HowDoUPlay said, the worst part (run the clock out).
I hope it's still worth considering an X Points category. I would hate for there to be a consensus of "it's too late because a similar category exists."
Thanks for the quick response! Looking forward to the video!
If Non-Perfect is Any%, is it necessary for there to be a rule that the player must miss a house every day? Would it make more sense for the rule to be that at least one house must be missed for the entire week? Or is Non-Perfect meant to be an additional category if it retains the rule of missing at least one house each day? I think it's a fun category, but with the additional stipulation it just seems to take away from the spirit of simply beating the game/getting through the week.
Truly not trying to sound antagonistic or argumentative, just thinking about how a more standardized Any% would open the game up for more players.
Hello,
-
In the house manipulation thread the OP deleted their account so the info is gone. Can anyone describe it so it's documented?
-
Just a general thought, but why is there no Any% category? Perfect Delivery and Non-Perfect Delivery seem like additional categories to the main goal of just beating the game.
Rules updated for Arcade. Designated time start and end, and clarified no auto-fire/turbo. Added a variable to select the version being played (Japan (Old Version), World (Old Version) or World (New Version)).
Looking for a consensus on Arcade rules.
- Should there be a specific version, or should the versions be broken out into separate categories (e.g. Japan, old version; World, old version and World, new version)?
- Should there be a difficulty rule (the default?)?
- I assume there should be a rule on not allowing turbo/autofire.
@starsmiley Enabled now, sorry about that.
Hello, I'd like to request moderation for https://www.speedrun.com/newai I have a pending run, but the game doesn't have any moderators.
Thank you.
