Well, 5 months later, it is possible. The word “impossible” should not even be in a speedrunner’s dictionary! ;D
Congrats! IL’s might seem like small tasks, but it requires a high level of patience and optimization skills. Also, this is the final level, so it has a symbolic significance as well. :D
A historic run. About 5 seconds ahead of everyone else is crazy at this stage of optimization. Maybe the 2:25 barrier will be shattered someday. It’s possible, “impossible” shouldn’t even be part of your dictionary as speedrunners!
Oh well, then you did optimize very well already! I didn’t actually look at that…
But I’m sure there are some big strategies left to discover. Good luck!
Challenge: Do you manage to break the 2 hour barrier in Any%? The first one to do so will get a follow from my behalf and your community will receive a community post on my YouTube channel.
Good luck! And tell me when you managed to pull it off (you are really close already).
This run is not even a speed-run, to be honest. It’s just the footage I have used to open this game on this website. I will attempt some actual, serious runs occasionally.
I did not expect this at all. As someone who has been following this community through Maximum’s videos, I am very happy for you achieving this. Congrats!
Where are the millisecs?
EDIT: It‘s 3:59.000 precisely, but why are millisecs missing in the submission?
I’d like to tell you that this game has a fully valid speed-run edition: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1009183690
I’ve officially beaten your time. Still great work at finding the setup, thanks!
What, you did that trick!? I knew it was theoretically possible, but I never got it quite right! This is AMAZING!!!
What was your setup for this?
-
With enough practise, it should be doable. Take a closer look at my ILTs (individual level times)! Level 3 is actually just about the right timing which you can get a feeling for. And level 5… That’s a story on its own! It isn’t even close to optimal yet so your best chances of improving that time are now.
-
Actually, the speed-run edition is identical to the original regarding physics. I even tested it.
-
Yes, level 7 is definitely the hardest! And level 8 is hard too after already getting though the rest of the game. Only practise and a closer look at previous runs can help here.
Mind attempting full-game runs? I’m quite lonely in the full-game leaderboard…
